Well, I thought we worked really hard, bossed the early encounters and were the better team in the 1st half. Cowden scoring against the run of play; aided by naive defending on our left flank. 2nd half, they very capably took every opportunity to disrupt play and stop the game; and we weren't good enough to protect and use the ball when we had it. All symptomatic of a struggling club with players low on confidence. Losing Brown was a big loss too. O'Kane's straight red was at worst a yellow, and now he's suspended. Strong hearts and minds needed now, with talk of knee-jerk managerial changes to be ignored IMHO. This group are good enough, if we get behind them. Big positive support and 3 points against QP on Tuesday will help; get along, or we'll have the club we deserve.

So that one unregistered player, in the less than 90 minutes he played, may have had the singular impact of Albion winning by a 3 goal margin as opposed to the actual 1-0 loss . That's not reasonable in any sense. You tit.Berwick have done nothing wrong, which is why Berwick haven't been punished in any way. Albion Rovers were wronged by their opponents playing an unregistered player against them, and they have been awarded a win as a result of that. Albion Rovers beat Stirling Albion today - who's to say they couldn't also have beaten Clyde had Clyde only fielded the players they were allowed to.
If Berwick Rangers get relegated this season, it will be because they are an awful team who have won four league games all season.2 -
With our long standing close relationship with The Bully Wee, one can only hope that you make similar oversight over the entire squad on 20th April, giving Berwick 3 points and 3 goals per player, and Berwick winning promotion, edging you in the play-off final. It's what friends are for.

I get why Clyde should be punished, but don't see why Albion should benefit and certainly don't see why Berwick should suffer.
Surely Berwick should be launching a formal complaint, sueing Clyde, and generally having a tantrum.
Mass tantrum planned in the ducket this afternoon. Reuters.1 -
I get sanction against Clyde, but not betterment to QP and Albion.

So not previously sufficiently incentivised? Poor show. We always want to serially scud you.Real incentive for us to scud you (again) now.0 -
First step is to really (really really) closely check the opposition team-sheet. I'd wager close inspection will reveal some Cowden players are only registered on their home planet. So, from being 7 points ahead with a 1 goal better goal difference, we now find ourselves only 4 points ahead with a 3 worse goal difference.
Obviously, it’s in our hands and play like we did on Tuesday we should be fine, but the scenario where we finish on level points with Albion and less than 4 goals worse off is very real. I wonder how the club would react in this situation.
Assuming what Clyde are saying is true.1 -
IMHO Barr has been MoM for last 2 games, spot on. Equally IMHO, I thought Brown was yertific on his deeper playmaker role last night, Cook was solid and dangerous on his odd foray upfield and Blues looked good also going forward. Overall, it's an improving trend; and yes, there have been some very low ebbs!

Factual though. Ok you're maybe not all that obsessed...Reported for targeted abuse.0 -
Please take this to another thread guys. I do think we have enough of our own issues to consider here. Why - given Cowdenbeath were a club that supported the pyramid being created? Thus Cowden helped give these teams the opportunity and incentive to get into the SPFL and the juniors standing aloof and not joining the pyramid was unwelcome - only belatedly are they coming on board with Kelty leading the way. I think there are still a few more arguments to be settled than just where the remaining East teams will fit.0 -
I really hope it works. Classy player with good ability on the air and on the deck. Undoubtedly a higher level than he's played recently, but if he's fit and healthy, no reason he can't be a great asset.Hence the hmmm....0 -
OK, should have defined 'massive'...[emoji23]Spoiler Pat Scullion

I do think that there are typical dynamics for even a moderately successful team.
Budget appropriate to your ambition; leaving this polarizing topic right there.
Sufficient player quality appropriate to your ambition. It's equally polarizing; if that's survival in 9th or league champions. Achievable goal....
Unity of players and manager: yep, the general view on that is, well, etc etc...
Leader on the field, a great pro dyed in the wool, supporting the manager, driving the players to meet the clubs ambition. Just not seen for some time, and the single most important missing link.
The first 2 are linked, and are, as far as I can see, in hand. But are long term success criteria and need some patience.
The last just has to happen soon, or we are in soapy bubble. A leader on the field is required and will be massive.1 -
Your sentiment is well meaning and, in the majority, I think that's the case.I think it should be made clear that absolutely no one on here will have anything personal against Harvey, when you come into the SPFL the level of scrutiny is much higher than the East of Scotland league and fans are more engaged and vocal. He hasn’t helped himself with post match comments but, certainly in my experience, he is the manager of a rival club so I want him to fail. I’m sure he knows this and expects stick himself. If he wants to succeed he will have to overcome this.
Football is a very fickle game.
However, when some wee jakey sh!tebag records a confidential conversation, held in good faith, and shares it, one has to wonder.
Football can be utterly unscrupulous as well as fickle. Despicable behaviour; I hope some punitive measures can be taken.1 -
More fake news and shallow trolling from The Kingdom. You still here?HArvey is so far out his depth. For guys to say he is brave to come out and do an interview after games is nonsense as well it would have looked a lot worse if he didn’t actually come out and do 1 today. He is completely responsible for that today. He quite clearly doesn’t have any respect from the players. And I seen a video today of a few guys in a pub prank calling him pretending to be representatives of newtongrange star and negotiating deals for players. Totally embarrising our club and so far out his depth. It would not be crazy to show him the door now and get somebody in who will gain respect of the players and who the players will actually work for!!!0 -
OK. JH actually comes across as a decent bloke. However I feel he needs to improve results extremely quickly....
More uniquely insightful analysis from The Kingdom. Yahoorsir.0 -
Well done for expanding the definition of being a dick. Inventive. Carry on [emoji106]Past0 -
No change, but a time for backbone and unity. Not a time for knee-jerking or capitulation. Hasty, ill-considered change and chucking in the towel would be typical but wrong IMHO.So....
Now what?1 -
Yahoorsir, you still here?I think we got a better picture this weekend!!!!!
But sure it is all down to to budgets!!!

The arbiter of sense is fi Cowden; I think not...is your supervised weekend license no up in about an hour? Best get posting.Let's face it Johnny Harvey is only good for spouting shite in club interviews and you sad deluded Berwick fuckwits lap it up. His record is worse than the manager you sacked. Only one speaking sense amongst you is Fergie.0 -
Ok so if you take the top three out the equation (even though I don’t actually agree on the money situation I think you just need to look at the 2 teams who were promoted last year, I would imagine they had significantly less budgets than the same three teams last year) , in the current managers reign we have been beaten twice of cowden, and absolutely battered of Annan and Stirling.
And unfortunately time isn’t something that’s on our hands at the moment because unlike us Albion seem to have improved quite a bit under new manager and are only 7 points behind us with a game in hand and we still play each other twice.
Just touching on the immediate impact I think when you look at it, Berwick Stirling and Albion all changed managers around a similar time and in a similar league position, Stirling now pushing for a play off spot and Albion joe breathing down our necks.
Now, so the top 3 are 11 and 16 points ahead of the nearest challenger due to better managers and harder working players? Please, the financial model is the major factor.
And The Bino's being 7 points behind, even with a game in hand is hardly breathing down our necks; or are we breathing down QP's necks for 8th? Not being complacent; but really Private Frazer!? [emoji6][emoji4]
May I ask, if Johnny's positivity and his plans (to develop, get players back: fit and perhaps add a few more) are not good enough for you, can you lay-out your plan that would be better? I'm all ears; the size of Jodrell Bank dishes.0 -
I take your points; I'm not accepting our position, and clearly neither is the manager nor, I suspect, the boards. Another point we agree on is money comes into it; which is why anything from matches v Peterheid, Clyde or Edinburgh is tough, given respective budgets. This season, unfortunately isn't about what we take from these teams; it's more, as you know, about what we take from the teams in our third.Again the cash comes into it. So as a fan of Berwick do we just sit and accept the fact we are getting humped every week because we don’t have any money. Players are still getting paid to play football some of who I would imagine are in the region of £200 a week to play football and the manager knows what he is coming into when taking over the job and that should be his job find a team to compete regardless of budgets. This manager has now brought in 6/7 players and as previously mentioned has a worse record than the previous manager. Sorry that I can’t find any hope or optimism.
I think we will consolidate, by taking points off teams in our third, and with development of what we have (as I think the 6/7 New players deserve time - reference Johnny's interviews..) praying we don't get any more injuries and a few new faces, next season will bring a higher target.
You seem to want immediate improvement, I think this is where we fundamentally differ, I DO accept immediate improvement (to a team that can compete with the top third) is not a reasonable goal right now, where improvement v our third is; surely you can see that?0 -
"Equally, we've just played arguably the best 2 teams in the league, with demonstrably more cash than we do, so why not remind folks like you of that fact"Yeah because scoring 2 in the last 6 and conceding 18 is really improving, and the fact we have a worse goal scored and conceded average than the previous manager is also an improvement! Your spot on mate sorry. And before you hype on about we are playing a better style of football garbage, football is an objective sport and the objective is to score more goals than your opponents not play nicer football or have more possession.
Was the above too complex for you? And thanks for putting words in my mouth; why would I say anything (or indeed use a large stringed instument) about a better style of fitba.
I agree about it being about winning games (obviously) I just trust Johnny's rhetoric about getting to a place where we will; where you appear to be irreversibly imprinted with Corporal Fraser genes.0 -
Touching on the gaffer... it’s about time he stops with the bulls*** in the interviews!
We are playing teams in the same league as us, granted they may have a bit extra quality in certain areas of the field but that doesn’t stop us from actually competing!!
The message I'm hearing is an honest assessment that we're improving, and continuing to ask for patience, as it'll take
time.
Equally, we've just played arguably the best 2 teams in the league, with demonstrably more cash than we do, so why not remind folks like you of that fact.
That honesty, passion and optimism is not everyone's cup of tea, I happen to applaud it.
And how can you say the players are not competing; I hope you mean in terms of player quality in some areas; but not in effort.
I see fantastic effort all over the pitch and, with the manager galvanizing belief in the dressing room, returning players and perhaps one or two new faces, I believe we'll move up a place or two in the weeks to come.

Fair question; good enough to keep us in the league. That's all that the club and supporters should be focussing on right now.
All Berwick fans have aspirations beyond the horrible place we are now; me included, but I think criticising everyone from the manager to the programme seller is counter productive at this stage.
I'm not sure why I'm given any credence to your drivvle anyway with your gimmicky Airdrie clobber. Up The Diamonds indeed.
