For those who cba/are too busy with actual lives to listen, there’s an interesting bit about Paul McPherson, the new director who briefly introduced himself on here. Apparently Jan reached out to him and he agreed to an interview, only to cancel the day before and hasn’t been heard from since. Why am I not surprised?

That was a really good listen, and if Jan ever gives up journalism then a career in the diplomatic service surely beckons.

If they get their wishes (they won’t) they’ll think of a new reason to boycott Stormont until a non Catholic FM is in power. Their new phrase is “Nationalist  Supremacy” is what’s holding the country back.

Like the Bourbons and the Boers their future will be consigned to the history books.

Or maybe it's 'like father like son' and he likes a bit of back door action.

HERES THE PROBLEM. I DIDNT MISMANAGE THE CLUB OR THE CHOICE OF MANAGER AFTER DL. I DIDNT  WASTE ALL THAT MONEY ON MANAGER AFTER MANAGER.WASTE ALL THAT MONEY ON SUBSTANDART PLAYERS AND I DIDNT PUT THE TEAM AT THE BOTTOM OF LEAGUE 2. I DIDNT DIDNT MAKE STATEMENTS ABOUT MOVING TO A NEW STADIUM. THE PROBLEM IS GORDON THOMSON AND THE SOONER HE IS AWAY FROM THE CLUB THE SOONER IT WILL IMPROVE. IS THERE ANY PART OF THIS YOU DONT UNDERSTAND.

Nope, I think that's just capital.

These auld junior team fans really are something else.

Aye, the sooner this cold weather passes and we get folk back out and about the better.  Some serious barrel-scraping going on here.

How has Bevan been doing in the Lowland League for Rovers? I know he had a wee burst of form in League 2 last season but I’ve barely seen his name mentioned since they were relegated!

Hi did score a worldy against Stirling Uni in the Cup.  And he's now in a different Rovers team from the one with Charlie Reilly and Blair Malcolm 😉

I'm old enough to remember Kenny Dalglish looking ordinary in some awful Scotland teams - just saying.

Wasn’t he the guy who looked great for Edinburgh City against us in the one of the playoffs?

Indeed he was, and he was also excellent for Queen's Park.  Somewhere along the line he seemed to have lost his way, and with Kelly also being offloaded to us, EK seem to be preparing for life in the big league.

MacLean seemingly taking a break from football. Just never really saw it consistently from him and fair enough if he wants to put work first I'd say.

I was told he's currently working in Thurso, so that's a bit awkward from a practical point of view.

Buchanan was offered a 2 year deal plus the captaincy with us.

Dumbarton have slightly higher crowds than us but with our ability to hire the pitch out, that at least cancels that out.

We have an 18 man squad at present and may look to bring in a 19th. Dumbarton have a 25 man squad and outwith Vata and the reserve keeper are all senior pros commanding a decent wage.

The key point here may be the Boardrooms.  How many working Directors do Stenny have and do they include 'football people' ?

That may be a slightly rhetorical question because last season your club took a decision to replace your Manager with an experienced guy and you are now seeing the effect of that.  We've chosen the opposite path of extending the Manager's contract and we are also seeing the effect of that.  Different Boards, different decisions and very different outcomes.

As to the squad sizes, well Stenny have had great good fortune with injuries but that's hardly your fault.  What you maybe didn't do was sign players with a history of injuries and also carry over players with a history of injuries.  We've also had the misfortune of two long-term injuries to important players in the earlier part of this season, and all of this combined has left us struggling.  Such is fate, but decisions have a key bearing too.

  10. Well, I actually enjoyed that today.  In my eyes I was watching a contest totally lacking in football finesse but full of action and interest, whilst in my mind I was watching a game on the Baseball Ground in December 1971.  And it's a while since I've been in a ground where the standing area conditions match the pitch.

Now that the pressure of winning the league has been removed, it was a fairly relaxed occasion to the extent that Faz came up with a starting eleven that even AI would have baulked at.  Despite that we should have won, although any visiting neutrals would probably consider that a draw was a fair result.

And the really good news is that we will almost certainly be back at New Dundas Park next season when the Rosey Posey can have yet another crack at trying to beat us on league business.

Excellent news. I’m at Stamford Bridge for the early kick off today, so that will follow it up nicely.

I can hardly think of a starker contrast than the Monument To Modern Football Hubris and New Dundas Park, a monument to old-school football in the community integrity.

Baller. Smashing player. Never got the minutes that he probably should have. Loss to ek imo.

In our current doldrums that's very heartening to read, and I hope he can literally hit the ground running.  I'm guessing that Mick Kennedy perhaps feels that Robert Thomson will be a better fit for EK's formation/playing style.  And echoing Jan's comments I wish him well too.

  13. I'm certainly not going to criticise an attempt to live the attacking options, and this lad comes with a decent record.  The EK website lists him as a midfielder and if he's scored 43 goals in two seasons then that has to be worth a punt.  We wish him well, and if he's any good maybe we'll rename ourselves MK Sons.....

They generally follow it up with drivel about everything from Steptoe and Son, to Dad's Army, to On the Buses, and all the way through to Only Fools and Horses by way of Open All Hours and Porridge.
    Mainly shite.

Hancock's Half Hour will often get lobbed in, and while  can see it's well written and performed, it doesn't mean I can't pretend it's not aged. It's not the fault of the programmes themselves sometimes; they've been copied, parodied, reworked so many times in media since that the gags are basically telegraphed from a mile off to modern eyes. It's a bit like 50s rock n' roll. I get that it was new and exciting at the time, but f**k me it's trite and route-one by today's expectations.

All that said, we don't always move onwards an upwards. There will always be enough actual simpletons in the world that Mrs Brown's Boys will have a large audience.

Good post.  The only obvious exception I would cite is 'Fawlty Towers' which was on a different plane of comedy.  It's just a pity that John Cleese evolved into a perma-raging right-wing bellend.

I struggle to envisage 18,000 souls packed into Bogheed. 3,500 felt busy.

Circa 16000 against Celtic in October (?) 1972 was the biggest crowd I was in, and aye, it was quite cosy. The scoreline wasn't though.
