Seriously? For those not old enough to remember, Thatcher's first term in office was an absolute fucking disaster: not quite up to the clusterfuck standards of the current government, but a lot worse than anything from then till 2019. Totally crashed the economy, and it was only the same level of foreign policy ineptitude getting us into an unnecessary conflict with Argentina over the Falklands that got her re-elected.

I was there and I don't disagree with any of that.  What's probably happened here is that a group of bright young things in the Labour policy laboratory have hit on this zinger in the hope that it tickles the fancy of your average Daily Express reader.  I'm surprised a model Spitfire hasn't been thrown in.

When there are no shortage of valid criticisms to be made of Yousaf on policy and competence, it's genuinely baffling that people are attempting to make this non-story an issue.

It's no different from Douglas Ross saying he wants to "get rid of the SNP" and "kick the nationalists out" or Anas Sarwar saying he wants to "boot the Tories out". Those are all actual quotes: just because they didn't clarify "that means their MPs and MSPs" at the end doesn't mean they're actually going to round up everyone who doesn't vote how they like and deport them.

This is entirely normal political rhetoric which every party in Holyrood has used and everyone knows this, including the people claiming to be bothered by it here. It's hardly a parallel with calling for someone to be shot, which may explain why the Tories are so desperate for this to become a story when that sort of extreme statement has actually happened.

Everyone claiming this bothers them should grow up, frankly.

Indeed.  I'm more bothered about that nice Mr Wishart trying to protect precious Perthshire sensibilities.  The dry boak springs to mind.

If you want a really good laugh, I note that Broomhill are at 'home' on Sunday. Two games in 24 hours after a week where it's due to rain at least once. Good luck, lads.

It will not be much of a laugh if Stenny roll up the following Saturday to lift the title accompanied by more members of the media than normal.

3 pts is all we are asking for 😁

You just look after your own game, because we are becoming the great unpredictables.  Whilst Bonnyrigg have never beaten us in a league game this slide of theirs can't go on forever.  But if we perform we can win this.  So aye, we'll do you a favour 😉

I'm writing my dissertation on whether Scottish football media should be allowed to be biased or not and would appreciate it if you could take five minutes to fill out this survey.

I'm trying to get as wide a range of fans from different clubs and I'd love to hear your thoughts on the subject, cheers.

CLICK HERE to take the survey.

It's an academic question because it already IS biased.  For example, in an interesting take on how two wrongs don't make a right The Herald newspaper boasts a 'Rangers Reporter' and a 'Celtic Reporter', and the rest of us can lump it.

Your dissertation should carry a central theme on how with very few exceptions all contemporary media prioritises reader views and clicks, listener numbers and ensuing advertising-driven revenues over providing balanced, informative content.  With Radio Clyde in a league of its own.

Its a labour party in name only, they are beholden to business leaders and academics who obsess over things that people struggling to keep the lights on dont care about. Labour has shifted economically to the right and become irrelevant in many other areas.

I've said for years that for a sizeable and politically lazy percentage of the electorate, and especially the Scottish one, that simple word 'Labour' translates into voting levels unwarranted by the contemporary party's policies.

Simply not being the Tories doesn't cut it.

Whilst the goalkeeper is catastrophic for the fifth, look at the desire from Mikey Ruth to run from deep inside his own half to put the keeper under a bit of pressure. He's done that all season and just watched the ball get booted back over his head. So I'm glad he got a reward. The guy's work ethic is different class.

Likewise Finlay Gray doing the sort of things that got us all so excited last year for the sixth. Duracell Bunny pace to surge forward, then playing a terrific pass at the right moment. Again that just kind of sums up how we played yesterday. The players all worked their arses off for the full 90 minutes.

James Graham, based on early showings, reminds me a bit of Calum Gallagher in his first season or so with us. Ungainly and a bit awkward looking. But rapid and direct. That finish was very Calum Gallagher too.

Re James Graham, I recently compared him to Brian Gallagher, aka 'Galaxy' of the late 1970's.  He had pace to burn too, and you never knew exactly what he was going to do - out of ten chances he'd convert two or three and at least one of the remainder would go out for a shy.  And his partnership with Raymond Blair was easily our fastest strike force in living memory.

I should've said earlier (and I say it every time we play them) but what a lovely club Spartans are. Every single person associated with them who I've ever encountered has been a genuinely class act and a credit to their club.

Right from when you go in, the guys on the gate, the officials hanging about, the coaches (I assume) of the kids teams. The kids themselves. Even up to the first team players all look to have bought into Dougie Samuel's ethos.

It's daft wee things, but I was stood outside the changing rooms for post-match and every single Spartans player made a wee comment as they left. Just a 'see you later' 'all the best' that kind of stuff. But really decent, especially when you've been stuffed in a game and probably just want to get up the road. Most players don't do that in my experience.

They were gracious when they beat us in October. And equally as gracious this afternoon.

If I A) Had a kid and B) Lived in Edinburgh then I'd be really keen to get him involved with the club.

I say it over and over again. I want to hate them as B team appeasers, but I just can't. I hope all the kids there today continue to follow them and either (in the Jamie Dishington style) make it to the first team, or at least continue supporting the club from the sidelines.

In stark contrast, I've just read about an episode at New Dungheap Park in which Clyde's Scullion was spat on by someone in the home support and (understandably but very foolishly) decided to respond in kind.

So if you prefer your fitba loutish or skinny latte, League Two has something for you folks.

Obviously a great result  but it doesnt change anything or mean anything unless there is consistency and not this constant bottling it in crunch games.

I dont want to pour cold water on what is a great result and a rare chance for us to celebrate a big win but anything other than promotion would mean a total flop of a season especially given the players we have signed.

    Christ, that water's freezing......

  10. Cheap jibes at other clubs isn't going to win many friends.  And some of it is way off the mark.  I know people connected with Spartans and they do tremendous work in the Pilton area of Edinburgh, very much a genuine community club in contrast to Dumbarton where the prevailing culture is one of a hugely struggling private members club owned by shyster speculators.  And for the record, our ground, pitch and the surrounds are indeed an insult to the location at the Rock.  That is down to us.

As for the Bankies, we've always had good relations and long may that continue.  The current direction of travel of both clubs is polar opposite and that should hugely concern Sons fans.  In terms of club ownership and management Clydebank FC appear to be everything we are not.  But there's nothing to be gained by taking out our frustrations on here when our problems lie elsewhere.
