  1. Like many others 2013 was up and down in terms of running. Took a long time to get started in the new year after illness and never really got going until training for the Dundee HM. Managed to run quite a bit on a family holiday in Florida at the end of June and so when the HM came round in much cooler conditions it felt really enjoyable and I achieved a PB of 1:51. I then injured my foot which wiped about 6 weeks out of prep for the Glasgow HM. I went from aiming for around a 1:45 to just being pleased to get round! It was the hardest run I've ever done. The first 12/13km I was at 1:40 pace but lack of training then hit and I slogged out the rest for a 1:53. Was pretty pissed off and this gave me major incentive to push on towards the end of the year. Had upped my distance to over 30km a week and did a PB 10km of 0:46 before a nightmare flu/cold wiped out most of Nov/Dec. Back on it again now running every other day but have lost a lot of pace/stamina. For 2014 I'm going to do my first marathon - ideally Loch Ness. In the lead up I want to do the Edinburgh, Dundee and Glasgow HMs and a few 10kms. Hope that whatever your targets are for 2014 you stay injury free and achieve them!
  2. First couple of drams from the 2013 festival edition (no. 64 of 312) Deanston this evening. A much more rounded single malt than the standard Deanston. Recommended.
  3. Jura superstition for £23 is something of a bargain. Where was that? I'm not a fan of the 10 yr Jura but the much peatier superstition hits the spot with burnt wood and licorice tones. I like it - although it does tend to divide opinion.
  4. Had this crappy cold/flu thing for a month and finally felt well enough to run a couple of times this weekend. Does it ever feel good to felt the road under your feet again... Lost a lot of fitness though. 10k took 55 mins whereas a month ago I was doing a low 47. Anyone else starting to plan runs for next year? Have my eye on the Edinburgh and Dundee halves and the Ness full marathon.
  5. Having been trawling the ugly club photos thread for weeks hoping for someone I know to pop up but with no joy and now this! This happy couple are friends of friends. By all accounts Blairs a sound bloke and their life isn't as dull as this article would make out... possibly. Great thread btw
  6. Sent Turnbull Hutton a message of encouragement a couple of days ago. Got a nice individual reply very late last night. The man is a legend. Very impressed indeed given the amount of email he must be getting right now. If his attitude is anything to go by this fight is NOT over yet. This IS a once in a lifetime opportunity to make positive change in our national sport. We must continue to encourage the boards and chairman that represent our clubs that long term health of the beautiful game in Scotland MUST take precident over any small short term indivual gain. M PS That presentation
  7. Turning into a farce? I think that milestone was reached quite some time ago.
  8. Amazing. John Brown really is the perfect representative for this mob. A quality speech. Perhaps he got his inspiration from this: San Dimas High School Football Rules
  9. It's been a while since we've had a statement from the Charlie Green circus. I'd expect one today given the situation with the non-transferring players and rumours of payroll not being met. The Goram/Brown stuff is a sideshow, amusing as it is. Despite everything that's happened in the past few days the master plan is still not clear. I'd expect this will have changed by the end of the week. My expectation is that Green is another that does walking away. Very proud of our BoD right now. Turnbull's latest statement shows that even diddy teams like the rovers can, and will, stand up to bully boy tactics. Sally how stupid do you feel right now? Bet you wish you'd kept your mouth shut now don't ya? Regardless of what plans may, or may not, have been made by Murray, Whyte and Green it remains our task as fans of Scottish football to see this through to the end. Already we've seen that the fans voice has power when it's focused and together. At the very least we need to keep working to spread the news and ensure justice is done and at best Sevco have to start life in the third.
  10. Looks like the fan survey is open for all. Fill your boots... Pars fan survey
  11. I assume the SFL clubs would have a vote on this, in the highly unlikely event the shower of cockfumbles that run the Scottish game can get this organised? In the (extremely hypothetical) event this does occur and the rovers vote yes I will never step foot in Starks Park again. Vote GTF to Newco.
  12. You think this story is near to an end? Think again. You thought last weeks events were incredible? You ain't seen nothing yet. As I said back then the floodgates have opened. There's going to be some surprises. RTC is on the ball. Stay tuned!
  13. What a day! I'm still glowing with joy, but as I said on an earlier post this is just the beginning of the end. I fully expect things to unravel further from here. I am totally convinced that now HMRC have shown their hand the whole stack of cards is going to come down. If Green knows what's good for him he'll save whatever face he has and get the hell out before he wastes even more money, time and *cough* reputation on this farce. That Sun front cover needs to be framed and placed in the boardroom of every professional football club in the country. A reminder that if you try and cheat your way to success it will eventually catch up with you. I only hope that the powers that be have the courage of their current convictions to follow this up with the full investigation it requires. As a UK tax payer I'm livid that SDM and Whyte and characters of that ilk continue to walk away from these types of tax dodges as if nothing wrong has occured. In these tough times we as a society need to bring these cancerous characters to account for their deeds. Looking back on yesterdays response by fans of the football club that used to exist called Glasgow Rangers I am bemused that they still haven't got the slightest clue that HMRC aren't to blame. The blame lies solely at the door of the current and previous governance of the company. It appears to me that their support consists of 70% uneductated, bigoted, dimwits (I include Green in this group) and 30% cowards. The majority just lap up the pish spouted by which ever figurehead is in rolled in front of the camera on any given day whilst the remaining 'decent' supporters deep down know what's going on but don't have the courage to speak out against it, let alone take any action. Just goes to show how blinded by success this group of glory hunting bast*rds have been. Finally it has also struck me again how disconnected most of "the ppl" are from the reality of diddy opinion. They genuinely seemed shocked that almost to a man, woman and child fans of the smaller teams want a Scottish football system without their poisonous, corrupt and arrogant club. My first contact with "them" was as a 12 year old kid following my local team. A cup visit to Starks' was widely unremarkable in my memory apart from Butcher/Roberts et al playing keep ball for the final 20 minutes to avoid a cup upset and earn a credible draw against our diddy team of part timers from Fife. The return at Ibrox was quite different. At this point I had only one experience of attending big football matches - a pretty mental Chelsea v West Ham game at the height of the football hooligan problem. Its a local derby, tensions were running high. As a kid I did kind of get the connection between the context and the Beruit like scenes post match. I never felt threatened or intimidated even when the mentals were kicking seven shades out of each other just across the street. The mentals fought themselves and generally the sane supporters didn't get caught up in the trouble. The experience at Ibrox was totally different. Going into the ground getting spat at, verbally abused, threathend with violence and generally intimidated by grown men as a timid 12 year old kid going to the football with my dad and younger brother. Why? Because I had the gall to support a diddy team that clearly threatened the status of the mightly Glasgow Rangers. We got hammered 5-1 I think. Didn't stop the continual goading throughout the match, sectarian singing, various forms of body fluids being discharged from the top of the Broomloan road stand in our direction along with coins and who knows what else and so on. Compared to the friendly, good natured banter and experience over the years at virtually all other Scottish grounds (including Scumferline) the Ibrox experience is one I doubt I'll ever miss. This was just my first taste of the Rangers experience. There are plenty more both as a kid and adult. My brother who got a job selling match day programmes at home games as a teenager had such a bad experience getting bullied by grown men in the Rangers support he ditched the job and even to this day rarely goes back to Stark's. These are not isolated incidents. Having spoken with many friends of diddy teams over the years this is a common experience. Add systematic cheating over a period of many years and continued arrogance and threatening behaviour in the face of an insurmountable weight of evidence against your club is it any wonder you are the most hated football club in Scotland? Sorry I should say WERE the most hated football club in Scotland. The fact that in a few hours you will cease to be brings great joy, not just to me, but hundreds of thousands of football supporters across Scotland. That you can't understand the reason why we are delighting in every single piece of negative news in this epic farce is beyond belief. I genuinely hope that the footballing authorises take this opportunity to send you the way of Third Lanark. Scottish football and Scotland as a country will be a better place without you. M
  14. The floodgates have opened... More suckerpunches on the way for "the ppl" in the next couple of days. Despite what's being said in public by Green and the deadly duo there is a very strong chance that Rangers are in danger of ceasing to exist in any recognisable form. It's beyond my wildest dreams. In years to come it will be like the first moon landing, the death of JFK and 911. I'll tell my grandkids I was there on P+B when the end came for the mighty Rangers. The end of the beginning of the end is here. Let's rejoice fellow diddies!
