What sort o crowd will Falkirk. Raith and Airdrie bring to Broadwood....
Personally looking forward to the away stand been open for the first time in donks and with the exception of Stirling albion a two sided atmosphere.. [emoji106]
I imagine we’d bring between 250-500 depending on how we’re playing.0 -
Kieran MacDonald has joined Raith Rovers and Scott Stewart has left for Arbroath.

1. Partick Thistle
2. Dundee United
3. Inverness CT
4. Dundee
5. Greenock Morton
6. Dunfermline Athletic
7. Queen of the South
8. Arbroath
9. Ayr United
10. Alloa Athletic1 -
1. Falkirk

8. Dumbarton
9. Montrose
10. Stranraer0 -
Christ. Hutton plus Eckersley, Fordyce & Crighton... All we need now is a right back and we’ll be on track for conceding about 10 goals next season.
Just looked back at our defensive record once Murray was appointed and we conceded an average of almost exactly one goal per game, which is pretty impressive and was the best in the league.0 -
Breaking news Brechin still have only got 1 signed player
Are you lost?3 -

Adam Eckersley confirmed.0 -
I’m seeing in the Dumbarton thread that we’ve apparently signed Calum Gallagher. A quick google tells me he had a similar hit rate to McIntosh last season - a replacement?
If true, we’ll still need to sign a marquee forward as a lack of goals was our downfall last season.

I wish we’d stop announcing these youngsters individually, I keep getting my hopes up

Adam Eckersley will be a huge improvement on Kieran MacDonald if true.

Signing news incoming... let’s hope he’s signed on the dotted line this time!

So with the League Cup draw tomorrow lunchtime apparently.
Who we looking for?
First Seeds:
Motherwell (
Livingston (9)
Hamilton Academical (10)
St Mirren (11)
Second Seeds:
Ayr United (16)
Morton (17)
Partick Thistle (18)
Dunfermline Athletic (19)
South (Unseeded):
Queen of South (21)
Falkirk (22)
Airdrieonians (27)
Dumbarton (28)
Stranraer (30)
Clyde (34)
Edinburgh City (35)
Annan Athletic (36)
Queen's Park (39)
Albion Rovers (41)
Berwick Rangers (42)
East Kilbride (LL)
I'd propose a group of:
Motherwell
Hamilton
Airdrie
Albion Rovers
East Kilbride
I’d be happy with any of the top seeds to be honest. Livi/ Hamilton/ St Mirren are all beatable and it would be good to get a derby with Motherwell.
From the second seeds, you would expect Partick to be much stronger next season so would like to avoid them. Other than that, it would be nice to avoid the long distance games like Stranraer/ QoS/ Annan but not fussed generally.
The new League Cup format has been a breath of fresh air IMO, looking forward to it!3 -

You see I read it a different way again.
I looked at it like the players wanted away (maybe they didn't want to go full-time, or be part-time in a hybrid model where they might not be looked upon as favorably?) but Muzz rated them, and is reluctant to release them.
As highly as I rate Stewart, I'm not sure any club is in a position to chuck any money your way. Unless it's something nominal like £500 - with that deducted from his wages for X weeks or whatever.
Yep, I would doubt any club would pay money for the players on that list. Taking some of them off our hands would be good enough for me.0 -
Perhaps Murray wanted to keep them as squad players but both players want to be in the first team. The compromise there being they can leave if they find a club offering first team football.
Probably the most likely scenario, it would have been good of them to say that though!0 -
A whole gaggle of players leave Falkirk

I was just about to post “wrong thread”, then I remembered.
Falkirk

I read it as them not being in the plans but Airdrie not willing to give them the pay-off their contract will require, therefore they're free to find another club or continue picking up their wages.
I would have come to the same conclusion, had the announcement not stated otherwise:
“Defender Kieran MacDonald and midfielder Scott Stewart, although part of the manager’s plans for next season, have also been listed as available due to the pair entering the final year of their contracts.”
Why would you be transfer listed if you were “part of the manager’s plans”?2 -
Could be wrong, but the way I read it is that they are available for transfer, but unlike the others they are subject to a transfer fee.
All of the players noted are under contract for next season I believe.
Bizarre.0 -
Wonder if the club have even made offers to Stewart and MacDonald to extend their contracts, like normal clubs do with players they want to keep, rather than just list them as available. Maybe they did and the players knocked it back. Of all the names given I'd have preferred Cairns and Stewart to have been kept. The rest are meh at best and at worst fucking atrocious.
I found that part of the announcement very strange. Why would them being in the last year of their contracts (which most players are in League One) have any relevance to being transfer listed?
Surely you’re either wanted by the club and therefore not available for transfer, or not wanted and on the transfer list?1 -
Oh I do love the close season. Folk losing the plot over Chris O’Neil leaving
I suspect he was offered a deal that was reflective of his ability; which is a squad rotation player at best.
If our ambition for next season is to get promoted, we can’t rely on players like Chris O’Neil as starters. While he put in some solid performances in the second half of the season (the game where he was forced to play on the right side of a back three at Raith after Page was hauled off seemed to be a turning point for him), let’s not forget he was at times a liability at RB/ RWB before that point.
If we could get him on the cheap as a squad player, great. Anything beyond that would be bonkers.

What do we think the chances of getting Andy Ryan back are? Slim?

Diamond Oracle Not sure if it's accurate, but I read elsewhere that Crighton and Page from your list are signed for another year. The 12th might then be Scott Thomson who signed an extension before he went out on loan ( https://www.airdriefc.com/scottthomson-120119).
Scott Thomson is signed, but I’m not sure if he’d be included in the 12. He signed a deal at the same time at Robbie Leighton, Grant Brennan, Lewis Gracie, Craig Truesdale and Scott Thomson at the start of last season for the reserve team.

During a quiet afternoon at work, I’ve had a trawl through all the signing announcements posted on the website over the last year or so and the players that have been confirmed as signed on for next season are:
1. Scott Robertson
2. Joao Victoria
3. Dale Carrick
4. Ryan Conroy
5. Kieran MacDonald
6. Scott Stewart
7. Dean Cairns
8. Josh Edwards
9. Cammy Russell
In the article posted above, Stuart Millar states that there are 12 players signed up for next season. This means that three of following players must also be signed up (the rest were expressly announced on one year deals):
Jonathan Page
Sean Crighton
Chris O’Neil
Darryl Duffy
I suspect Page, Crighton & Duffy will be the three signed.
Assuming the above is all correct, I would hope as a minimum we’d be able to get rid of Conroy, Page & Duffy. I wouldn’t be fussed if any of Robertson, Carrick, MacDonald, Stewart, Cairns or Russell left.
