  1. Funny game football. Seen to recall folks saying last season that Telfer was rank and should be punted. Now wanting him signed up. Same with Paul Paton the season before who then turned out to be one of the best players in the squad.  Now it's Hall's head that is being called for.

    Funny game football

As Kiddy said, Jesus wept. Not this again. There's a very good reason we can't play this formation - we don't have the players for it.  Its like saying "The Mona Lisa? Its just a painting of some Italian lassie. I can paint too".

I got tired of watching our embarrassing attempts at this years ago; not last season v Peterhead or Dumbarton or Clyde (AT HOME!), East Fife away, not the season before that, or the season before that; we tried this shit even back when John Baird was stuck up front on his own, back to goal,  dealing with hoofballs coming towards him at chest height.  That ain't the way Man City or Chelsea play it!  We need width, pace, and forward movement from midfield, and, y'know, players running into space, turning defenders on their heels, give-and-go, and similar "old-fashioned " notions of supportive teamwork.. all issues where we've been found desperately wanting in that dept for several years.   As it stands I've no idea if Keena will score 5, 10 or 20 goals for us next season, he's hardly had a fair chance yet.  Give him a partner up front, FFS!!

What is your understanding of the role played by the three in behind the single centre forward and what is expected from the centre forward.  And indeed how they work together as a homologous unit? Would you expect the three to be part of a five man midfield when defending and a four man front row when in possession?  Is the modern role of a full back not to provide width?

Also, the Mona Lisa was Florentine, not Italian.

I play 4-2-3-1 at amateur level. Absolutely nothing wrong with it. It purely comes down to application.

Man City won the premiership and Chelsea won the champions league both playing 4-2-3-1.  England started with this formation last night.  No reason a Falkirk team could not play this formation.

  5. I think a new broom means a clean slate.  If Sneddon is under contract, then he has to be given a chance to prove himself.  Perhaps give him pre-season and then send him out on loan till Christmas.  He hardly kicked a ball last season so needs game time.

Rumour has it we are still after McCann from Airdrie. They've signed Rico Quitongo today so might be preparing to lose him. Having McCann and Dixon would give plenty of depth at left back.

Do you mean Liam Dick? I'd imagine it'll be one of either Dick or Mccann which is maybe why if rumours are true we've mucked Liam Dick about as maybe Mccann is our preferred option. Mckay and Nesbitt are the other two pre contracts if the daily record is to be believed. Then there's the hibee who's mentioned Kane O'connor and a slight hint of Declan Mcmanus. Nesbitt's all right footed so he'll have to play on the right with hopefully Morrison on the left.

    Mutch

    Williamson Mckay Dixon New

    New Hetherington

    Nesbitt Telfer Morrison

    New

No. Liam Brown from Edinburgh City

  7. I do see Miller featuring regularly. If the gaffer does favour the 4-2-3-1 formation that his becoming the norm this weather, it would seem reasonable that Miller and Hetherington sit in front of the two centre backs.

He did mention pre-contracts in the plural. If Williamson was one, who are the others? Suspect not Hetherington after Alloa did state that he decided to leave despite being offered a new contract.  With two more expected this week, are we thinking MacKay and Nesbitt? What about Liam Brown and Leon McCann?

Got a funny feeling that the backup keeper will also be the goalkeeping coach. Would therefore be looking at a veteran with a year or two left in them who can help Mutch  improve and work with the academy too. Makes more sense than another Cantley signing.

  8. Experience from the last few seasons suggests we will be battling it out with Dumbarton and Clyde to avoid the drop.

Our first competitive game is in 50 days. As it stands, we have no head coach and just 5 players signed up. A number of of rivals are already signing players for next season.

i can quite easily see us spending the next three or four seasons in this league.

Frankly I would prefer Brian Rice over a lot of the other names names being discussed.

Brian Rice and his entire backroom staff signed rolling one year contracts in March so would be expensive.  Why bother with that when there are cheaper options

Orr's off to Stenny with his old BSC boss. Not seen any of Aitken but I'd rather see us sign someone on the up who's out to prove themselves than a championship haddy who's looking for his last full time gig.

Matthew Aitken is 23 years old and never played in the championship. He has been previously with forfar and Elgin after being released by St Johnstone as a kid. 12 goals in 22 games last season

don't know where the championship haddie comes from. I'd say he was someone who is on the up with something to prove

The fact 9 of our players have already been released shows to me they know that and are hopefully actively trying to fix that this summer. Hopefully more to be announced as released as well from that squad of diddies.

Nesbitt has made a difference since he came on and Jacobs looked good before he went off injured.  We need to sign the right type of players this summer so our recruitment needs to be much better which again I feel the club are aware of or they wouldn't have brought in a director of football.

Still gagging on a fan presence at boardroom level so hopefully that is getting sorted this summer as well as it's not just the squad that needs changed.

I don't think they have put out offers to fans on refunds for last season which they are obviously keeping a hold of until some good news story is announced as everything is very much negative to do with us at the moment.

Hopefully a fairly good managerial appointment is made then a few signings announced to bring on some promise for next season.

I'd pass on Nesbitt. Plays wide right and only used his left leg for standing on. Pass accuracy is poor.  Unless we are selling Morrison, there are more pressing needs

  12. We must remember that we are looking for a Head Coach and not a Manager.  The remit of a Head Coach is a lot less than that of a Manager.  Therefore, unless they are desperate for a gig, anyone who was previously a Manager is unlikely to be willing to take a backwards step in their career and take a Head Coaches role. It's more likely that someone who was a hands on assistant manager previously would be a better fit.

Equally, with Dunfermline now looking for a Manager, they will likely be a more attractive proposition than we are purely based on their higher league status and increased television exposure.

  13. I suspect that we are still trying to sign the players who are out of contract but not on the released list. This would be on vastly reduced terms.  Those already released were just not wanted. Those yet to be released may be seen as offering depth to the squad. Afterall, the fifth best club in the third tier is hardly a selling point for any targets we might have.I

Durnan  would have been offered a deal and either refused it or has interest elsewhere
