  1. Aye, that's another possibility. What did you think of the wee guy that played there against the Colts? He looked extremely young, and was tiny, but I thought he wasn't bad. Wouldn't be averse to seeing him get some gametime against Motherwell if he's still looking for a club.

Still no idea who he was though!

I thought he looked out of his depth even at that level; too slow, too weak and lacked the basics of defending.

Also thought Gibbons looked completely uncomfortable every time he was called into action. I understand he isn't a defender, but seemed to panic every time he was passed the ball.

If we are running with a small squad we'll have to be ruthless. These two guys, and Kasubandi, just don't look up to the required level. In fact, they look almost exactly like their career history personified.

  2. Anyone know what's wrong with Darren Barr? I'm assuming he's injured, just a bit concerning given his record and how thin our squad is.

At the game on Tuesday he looked in a bad way, could barely walk.

If it's long-term we'll have to bring in another defender. Wouldn't mind that being Stranraer's trialist number 4 (Ross Barbour).

Would also be concerning in midfield if Tatar was going to be signed and his injury is a bad one.

  3. McArthur and Fletcher both play for decent premier league teams every week; Gauld plays in the second tier of Portuguese football.

Hopefully Gauld becomes the player we all want him to be, but to suggest he replaces solid premier league players at the moment is just cringeworthy.

Can see the argument for having him in the squad and even trying him out in friendlies. Could be a massive year for him and he may very well play himself into the team.

  4. In my opinion I don't think any of the trialists from

Last night are worth signing although it is hard to judge on that game

I think Tatar, Kassarate and Clark are worth seeing again.

Kassarate was good when he was involved, just wasn't involved nearly enough.

  5. Be interesting to see how we line up tonight, if we start with a strong Xi or give the trialists another shot again.

Stranraer are a good team, so I'd far rather see the 1st Xi start and then maybe replace them on 50 or 60 minutes. Anyone else heading along?

Edit: I'd imagine the players who played 90 last night won't feature, so that would be Brown, Trialist RB, Pettigrew, Buchanan, Gibbons and Romanian Rab, though the latter never broke sweat so he might feature I guess.

Would also bring back in the guys who weren't there, Barr, Sparky and Fleming I'm guessing in place of Pettigrew, Gibbons and Peters/Kassarate/Kasubandi

Third edit: Assuming no one who plays the 90 starts, literally no idea who goes at RB, as Pettigrew looked to have picked up a knock early on yesterday but played on. Perhaps Gallagher, with Romanian Rab slotting into midfield if he's up to it. The game last night was played a hugely slow intensity, so he might be alright.

Not expect Garry to start tonight?

Wouldn't be too surprised to see Buchanan and Pettigrew feature tonight, they had little to do last night.

  6. I'm not wholly in favour of loaning Donald out. If we don't want him in the squad we dhouldnt have signed him.

Loans usually end your career at sons.

Help needed has anyone who went on loan actually made a success when loan finished . I can't think of anyone .

  7. Andy Graham, have a missed something? That the guy just left Ayr?

    That's the guy!

Jack Ross has worked with him before, with Andy being the captain as well.

Was brilliant for us in the Championship, not the quickest, but his positioning makes up for it for the most part.

Guaranteed to roulette a striker or two during the season.

He got injured during pre-season last year and couldn't get in the team after that.

With a good pre-season in him, he'd be a very solid signing, he's also a great guy.

  8. Taggart is a smashing signing and will be the best right back in that league - very disappointed we let him go.

He's an attacking full back, with a decent delivery and good feet, also good defender.

Played at centre back and defensive mid for us a few times, but not very well; play him at right back and he'll be a huge asset at both ends of the pitch.

  9. Better player, or better player for us?

Lithgow was the better player for us, but Miller was the better player in my opinion...if that makes sense. I can see Miller playing at this level for a wee while, I can't see Lithgow doing that.

I don't see Miller getting another club at this level, but he's still very young.

If it had not been for his actions off the pitch, Lithgow would be playing at at least this level.

  10. To be honest a centre-half with any pace is something I'd forgotten existed! I think he was a better player than Flash, and probably every bit as good as Barry. But I remember him being tipped as the next Phil Jagielka and then being hugely disappointed that he wasn't the best defender to ever play for us.

Nobody is as good as Ching. 40 years old and still scoring for Clyde

Findlay was clearly far, far too good for us (or anyone else at this level) and was the best ball playing defender I can remember us having. Scarily good with his feet.

All about opinions... But I just can't understand how anyone, basing purely on footballing ability, can say Miller was a better player for us than Lithgow.
