  1. So, I'm giving this fitness malarkey a bash...

I'm 5ft 10", 29 years old, since I started at my work six years ago, met the wife and got married, the weight has pilled on us both. I was 16/16.5 stone back then, so I was still overweight but got away with it.

I've tried various things in the past, gyms, personal training, Herbalife... but always struggled to stick to it. Became a manager about a year and a half ago and got into a vicious circle of constantly working, heavily drinking at the weekend, on and on. I felt constantly switched on about work and didn't make any time for anything other than a good swally and the football.

I've started at the David Lloyd a few weeks ago. I was 20 stone 12lbs, and today I'm down to 20 stone 2lbs. I'm really enjoying the DL club, expensive, but there's plenty of space so I don't feel uncomfortable next to anyone like I have done in the budget gyms in the past. They also have an outdoor and indoor swimming pool. I prefer the outdoor, as the indoor feels quite enclosed.

I've been using the MyFitnessPal app to monitor what I eat. It is brilliant, not just for monitoring calories, but it's really enlightening for things like saturated fat etc, it's made me a lot more conscious of what I'm eating.

I've walked home twice, which is six miles and I burn just over 1000 calories doing that. The first time was brutal, but second time was much easier. I'm going to try and do this twice a week whilst the weather is nice.

I've been doing Gym/Swimming, generally 3/4 times a week, but it varies what days I do it on. This week I'm trying to plan it in more as opposed to just going.

Gym wise I'm doing 40 minutes of cardio between bike and cross trainer. I hate running with a passion. I want to get using the rowing machine but it's a bit difficult with my weight at the moment, and is really sore on my back, I'm sure I'll build back up to that. I loved the rowing machine when I was a regular at the gym in my teenage years. There's a boxing bag as well I fancy hitting.

I've done some weights a few times but only when I've had a free day to do gym and swimming, generally at the weekends. Trying to just focus on cardio at the minute - unless I should be making sure I factor in some weights? Just really doing it to mix it up a bit so I don't get bored.

Swimming I'm up at 30 lengths, I'm just trying to increase this each time. Generally takes me about half an hour to do that, so if I get up to about 60, and an hour I'll be happy.

Sorry for the long winded post, but seems like an ideal place to keep note of my progress, and hopefully keep me motivated. Feel free to give me a kick up the arse when required, and any tips are welcome.

It's the football season starting again that I'm dreading it going tits up!

  2. I purchased my car from Arnold Clark branch, Dunfermline in 2015, with the car I purchased a service plan and had the car serviced at Arnold Clark Sighthill in 2016.
In March of this year I checked my cars MOT history on the DVLA website as I was looking to sell the car, the millage was recorded as 61,846 instead of 6,501. This was a shock and we therefor called on the 27th of April to speak to the servicing dept at Sighthill and spoke to ---- she looked into our record and could see that this was your job number that had been entered instead of my mileage. She then said she would sort it out at her end.
---- called back and said it couldn’t be sorted out by Arnold Clark that I would have to speak to DVLA, I then called them and they said they required evidence, I then called O---- back who said she’d send it straight away (the job sheets etc), she was helpful and apologetic.
Having received nothing that day, I called back on the Monday, she had forgotten to send the information and then proceeded to do that.
I called the DVLA on Monday the 30th of April and they informed me that the process could take up to 3 months before they would consider the evidence.
I called Arnold Clark Sighthill on the 30th of April several times and managed to talk to J---- the General Manager, he said he’d look into it and call me back straight away, he sounded shocked. He asked me to send the email to him with the evidence that came from the service.
I called Arnold Clark Sighthill on the 31st of April as J---- hadn’t returned my call.  I left my name.
I called Arnold Clark Sighthill on the 1st of May as J----- hadn’t returned my call. I left my name.
I called Arnold Clark Sighthill on the 2nd of May as J----- hadn’t returned my call. I left my name.
I called Arnold Clark Sighthill on the 3rd of May as J----- hadn’t returned my call. I left my name.
I called Arnold Clark Sighthill on the 4th of May as J------ hadn’t returned my call, I got through to him and the phone immediately was hung up on me.
I called Arnold Clark Complaints Department immediately after at Glasgow, my complaint was recorded and I was told that Jason would call me the beginning of the following week to discuss what could be done to compensate for the loss and issues with Customer Service.
I then received a message on the 8th of May on my phone (I was with a customer at the time so couldn’t answer) which stated as they had tried to contact me they were sending a letter.
I received a letter a few days later dated the 8th of May stating all the information I already knew plus this paragraph “The matter will be resolve and the error shouldn’t contribute to the depreciation in value of the vehicle” in addition to a scant apology.
This is the reason that apology is far from acceptable.
On the 26th of May I went into the Arnold Clark website to start the process of selling the car looking for an indication of value, it came up as £5,278.00 at 7,653 (genuine mileage) today the 15th of May we went into the same website the car is showing as £4,775 based on the same mileage, so due to the delay of 3 weeks it has lost £500.00, so in 3 months there will be a substantial loss.
Every step of the way regarding this matter, your letter is insulting, this issue has been mishandled.
The lack of response from your General Manager.
The lack of real interest in a matter that has been caused by you (ok human error is forgivable but not the following Customer Service).
I have done nothing other than buy a car from you and a service plan, I have another car that I purchased from you the same year. I am disgusted at the lack of interest and effort to sort this situation out and for that reason I want my complaint to be accelerated up the management system.
Apparently there is no acceleration of complaints unless you go to a lawyer and they couldn't see what was wrong, it was just a mistake and they don't compensate for mistakes they make!!!!!!!!

    Ceoemails.com is your friend.

Most large companies will have a complaints department dedicated for dealing with complaints raised at Executive level. They are generally prioritised and taken far more seriously.
  3. I'm in Highgrove Court in Renfrew in one of these flats. Just moved in a few weeks ago, but stayed in a different block with my folks when I was younger. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-59183188.html

Bus stop is right outside on the high street, 15 minute bus on the motorway into Glasgow. £12 in a taxi.

You're a ten minute walk from Xscape/Braehead which has everything you need. Ten minutes bus into Paisley as well.

I prefer this build to the Ferry Village ones as the rooms are bigger and has a separate kitchen where as the Ferry Village seems to be lounge/kitchen open plan.

  4. Today showed what I like about Ross, he's not afraid to make changes when he's got something wrong.

He's now realised that he can't play Reilly up by himself, neither can he play Sutton. He changed it to a 4-4-2 today and we looked comfortable and could have scored more. If we have the ball in the oppositions half, then we can't concede.

I'd be happy going into the season with a 4-4-2, with Stewart replacing a tiring Sutton. We'd only then realistically need a right back, right winger and a centre half to be pretty comfortable with the squad depth.

Airdrie didn't offer much, I felt sorry for their right back as Morgan was just ripping him apart.

Need to be quicker on the ball next week but as we won't get the same respect given to us today.

  5. I'd do this on Saturday unless we sign an amazing match-ready striker before then.
    -----------Samson
    Irvine-Baird-McK-Stelios
    ----McGinn-McShane
    O'Keefe - Smith - Morgan
    ----------Reilly (maybe even Sutton)

I wonder if O'Keefe is why we've not bothered signing a wide player so far.

Exactly what I would go for with Morgan and O'Keefe switching sides throughout.
  6. I've been with my current place for about 4 years and I'm 26. I pay 3% into my scheme and they contribute 17% of my salary into a credit account. They also top it up a few percent every year for inflation etc. They'll also match up to another 3% into an investment account and I'll probably do this when I reach 30.

I think anything else I will do will be investing over the long term, so that there is some element of access in the short term, but ensures it's not tied away when I reach retirement.

  7. Is there anywhere free I can watch Season 5 online or am I going to have to fork out for it on Amazon. Need something with subtitles.

Doesn't appear to be on any of the different countries on Netflix.

  8. We recently got two kittens, brother and sister, and we named them Haggis & Thistle. They must be about 6 months now.

Thistle is the dark one and is very relaxed. She likes to just chill out most of the time and spends hours staring out the window. She only really goes bonkers when she's running about with Haggis.

Haggis is a nut job. He gets involved in everything and is generally just bonkers. He enjoys drinking water out the toilet and celebrates when someone scores a goal on MOTD.

I'm only holiday just now so can't take a picture so I've just uploaded some I had kicking about on my phone.
