  1. Or what about the other classic " we drink beer, we drink wine, we're the Scottish borderline, na na na na na na na na na"
  2. The wee no. 8 looks class. Who is he? By the way, Dobbs released by Bolton today. Time for him to come home as player/coach.
  3. My original post wasnt really about whether it was appropriate or not for Millar to have a go at Thomson for his error. I used the incident to highlight the fact that Millar cared enough about our team to have a go at the keeper for conceding a soft goal. This, to me, is completely at odds to the criticism that is often thrown at Millar that he has an attitude problem (ie, doesnt give a f**k)
  4. You mean the run in he had with Thomson at Morton when the goalie made an arse of it? I thought that actually showed that Millar cares and was passionate about not losing the game. Funny how a lot of other supporters viewed this as some sort of confirmation of a poor attitude. It's all about opinions I guess. He's a talented footballer and we dont have enough talent in the squad, so I'm glad he is staying.
  5. Queens played well yesterday and,for the first 75 minutes I thought we controlled large parts of the game. Best for us were Beany (especially 1st half). I also thought Hutton & Miller played well in the midfield and the much-praised Hibs midfield didnt do much at all. Kidd was also good at full back. I thought we were weakened when the young subs came on and we were certainly hanging on a bit by the end. I know the young lads need game time to bring them on, I just wish Fowler wouldnt do it against Hibs & Rangers (especially away from home) where experience is essential.
  6. I dont think I'm imagining this, but I'm sure the last time stadium reconstruction was on the cards the club spoke about moving the pitch further towards the Portland Road end, allowing the replacement for the old main stand to run pretty much the full length of the new pitch and also allowing a bit more room for development at Terregles street. I'm sure it also involved lopping off the last section of the new stand and sticking it on the other end?
  7. Judging by the recent reaction when our results and form dipped, Fowler doesn't seem to carry a lot of goodwill among a sizeable section of our fans, despite having been pretty successful up to that point. On that basis I would say its unlikely that he will still be here next season. He seems to have decent managerial qualities though, and could go on to be successful elsewhere.
  8. Fowler's league record so far this season, discounting the big 2 of Rangers & Hibs (who have massive budgets compared to everyone else and shouldn't really be in the division - and wont be for much longer) is: Played 10 Won 5 Drawn 2 Lost 3 Points 17 Goals for - 12 Goals against - 11 All of this done while dealing with a hefty injury list and having lost 7 top players from last season. Not too bad. Certainly not bad enough for the sack IMO.
  9. I thought Hutton was outstanding yesterday and could be a great player for us if he maintains that level of form. Hooper and Lyle played well too. Unfortunately young Smith up front didn't look ready for this level yet. It was also good to see Gav Reilly in with the 200 Queens fans.
  10. yesterday was my first look at our new boys this season. Thomson didnt have too much to do, so difficult to say too much about him. He is part of a defence that looked jittery and generally unconvincing yesterday. How much the keeper contributes to this is difficult to say. 6/10 Brownlie - I actually quite like the look of him. Seemed pretty comfortable on the ball. Maybe would be better in the centre back role of a back four. Was his error for the 2nd goal and still obviously quite young and inexperienced. 6/10 Marshall - I had heard a lot about this boy, so my expectations were raised. Was a bit dissapointed to be honest and thought the game passed him by a bit. Some decent crosses in the 2nd half, but I didnt see a budding Holty or Bob Harris based on yesterday I'm afraid. Maybe just an off day for the boy? 5/10 Jacobs - He won a lot of headers and worked hard enough. His passing, especially in the 1st half, was fecking awful tho and put the team in trouble a few times. Generally looked ok as a defensive midfielder. 5/10 Conroy - Was busy yesterday and didnt hide, always looking to get on the ball. His legendary dead-ball skills were not to the fore yesterday, but I was generally quite impressed by his contibution. 7/10 Harris - Looks like he is lacking a bit of confidence and not sure he was too comfortable in his role just behind the 2 strikers. Did show some nice touches tho and could be a good player for us. Think he will need a run of games to gain his touch & confidence. 6/10 Oliver - Mm. Not sure what to make of him. Didnt hold the ball up too well and his passing to bring other players into the game was poor. Didnt show any real understanding with Lyle either and fluffed a good chance with a header. On the plus side, he worked hard and had a couple of good runs with the ball at his feet. 5/10 Thot Miller made a difference when he came on and he would start in my team every week. We also missed Russell's running. The defence was worryingly shaky. Dowie & Higgins were great last year, but seem to have been unsettled by all the changes around them.
  11. you guys are going to love it this season under Magic Johnston and Sandy. They had a brilliant season with QoS where we just blew the rest of the division away, with the team scoring for fun. Shaping up to be a similar season for you lot this year. If they had stayed at Queens I reckon we might have been in the SPL by now.
  12. If we did sign Harris & Hutton I think we would be starting to look stronger. It would give us something like this: Thomson Kidd Dowie Higgins Brownlie/Rutherford Harris Millar Hutton/Jacobs Conroy/Russell Lyle New Striker Subs from: Atkinson, Brownlie/Rutherford, Hutton/Jacobs, Tapping, Conroy/Russell, Hilson
  13. Now Harris that would be a bit more like it in terms of quality - a decent replacement for wee Danny Would also like to see us sign Kyle Hutton.
  14. I'll try and hold on to that thought MT as I take my seat in the away sections at the likes of Ibrox & Easter Rd this season!
  15. The quality we've lost is pretty staggering really when you see all those names grouped together. I'm trying very hard not to be a doom merchant for the season ahead.......but failing miserably so far!
  16. So, team so far shaping up as: Thomson Kidd Dowie Higgins Rutherford New RM Millar New CM Russell/Conroy Lyle Higgins Subs from Atkinson, Hooper, Brownlie, Burns, Skelton, Conroy/Russell, Smith Have I missed anyone? Higgins & Rutherford both very young, so not sure if Fowler will put them straight in the team. Still some important gaps to be filled.
  17. The signings of Thomson & Conroy and the re-signing of Burns & Hooper have really only sorted one position in the first team IMO, since Conroy would appear to play same position as Russell. Burns is now primarily in the coach/back-up category. Our bench looks a bit stronger tho! So team so far then would probs be: Thomson Kidd Dowie Higgins New LB New RM Millar New CM Russell/Conroy Lyle New CF Subs: Atkinson, Hooper, Burns, Conroy/Russell, Smith So,still lots of very important positions to fill and a tough job for young Fowler.
  18. Team so far: New keeper Kidd Dowie Higgins New left back new right mid Millar new centre mid Russell new striker Lyle subs: Atkinson, Hooper, Aiden Smith, .............. f**k!
  19. Have to say I'm not as relaxed as most about the anticipated exodus. Its going to leave our squad needing a lot of replacements and this will be a massive test for Fowler in terms of his player judgement.
  20. lets hope the team dont bottle it the same way that some of our fans clearly have
  21. Cheers Top Cat - That was really funny. Loved the bit about Queens goal average!
  22. Killie pages saying that Johnston has now been punted and Gary Locke in charge for saturday
  23. How much is Dobbs on at Fleetwood? Time to bring the messiah back to his spiritual home for our promotion push.
