  1. U go for it buddy. Rather than just stating the obvious flaws in the team tho its sometimes more interesting to me how me might try & fix it and thats all i was trying to do in my original post. The obvious response to that i suppose is to suggest sacking the manager, but i dont think that will happen any time soon
  2. What, u mean AJ wont implement my ideas immediately? Well thats crap. Anyway, just get a bit fed up of the relentless negativity. I remember the Willie Harkness days, so I can exercise a bit of perspective at times like these. Dont think Morton are anything to worry about, based on the league cup game, so quite optimistic of taking something at the weekend.
  3. How do u know Nortey cant play as one of 3 centre backs in a 3-5-2? Worth a try i would say. Gibson certainly looks fit enough to do the right wing back role. This would give us 3 players in centre midfield to try and plug the gap that the opposition seem to be flooding through at the moment. 2 up front would take the heavy lifting away from Dobbs. Alternatively , we could do nothing and just moan about how shite we are....
  4. I think 3-5-2 would be worth trying, with Nortey, Obileye & Buchanan as the back 3 and Gibson & Maxwell as wing backs. Would mean we could get East or Shields up top with Dobbie.
  5. I think it would also be interesting to know how many people are streaming our home games, but that info doesn’t seem to be available/get publicised, unless I’ve missed it?
  6. Only a month til the january transfer window opens. Maybe use a bit of the Dykes money for 2/3 players? How many loans deals do we have left?
  7. Thot the young lads played well tonight. Kept the ball really well. Maxwell, Pybus, mckee & Fitzpatrick were all good. Top of the league! Got to take the positives where u can this season!
  8. Even on a reduced league programme of 27 games, the manager should get at least the first round of 9 fixtures before his future is considered. Next 5 games will include Hearts, Dundee and ICT, so the Alloa & Morton games become essential for picking up points.
  9. Dont know who he is but he looks decent. Quite comfortable on the ball and likes to get forward.
  10. 4 left-footed defenders could be a disaster
  11. Goalies: Marshall/Gordon/McLaughlin Defenders: Robertson/Tierney/McKenna/Cooper/Gallagher/McTominay/Palmer Midfield: McGinn/Armstrong/Fraser/Forrest/Fleck/McGregor/Jack Strikers: Dykes/Burke/Griffiths/Christie/Naismith Would leave Kenny Mclean and Calum Paterson out and bring in Ryan Fraser , Steven Naismith & Lee Griffiths (if fit). Would also bring Craig Gordon back into the fold.
  12. 1. Mclaughlin 2. Tierney 5. Mctominay 6. Cooper 3. Robbo 7. Forrest 8. Armstrong 4. Mcgregor 10. Mcginn 11. Christie 9. Dykes 4-5-1 formation. All premier league back four.
  13. Does this matter? It still means we are well behind most of our division in terms of building a squad. Probably more worrying is the amount of new championship-standard players that we have to try & find and persuade to sign on our small budget. Also, the more new faces we bring in, the bigger the challenge it is to gel them into any sort of team for the start of the season. The 3 teams we are realistically hopeful of finishing above (Alloa/Arbroath/Raith) all seem to have much more settled squads compared to us. A huge task lying ahead for AJ to keep us in the division this year I would say.
  14. Good moves for Mercer and Murray I would say. I imagine they will be on better money than they were on at Queens. Maybe a case of other managers rating some our players from last season more highly than our fans?
  15. I thought he was over-rated, so not bothered about losing out on him. Would be good to sign someone/anyone soon though, just for something to talk about!
  16. Interesting to hear about the fan ownership model proposed for Morton. The Rae family writing off the £2M debt and they have 500 members signed up. Was looking at the stats and their crowds averaged around 1600 last season, in comparison to our 1400. Is this a model that could work at Palmerston somewhere down the line?
  17. Im assuming our manager can still pick up a phone and have a chat with potential signings even while furloughed. Or maybe he’s scared the furlough police will catch him...
  18. I would like to see the likes of Murray, Mercer, Semple, Kilday and Lyons come back into the squad once we are re-signing players. I think having some sort of core of 8-10 players who have played together (albeit fairly poorly in the latter part of the season) is preferable to having to bring in around 12-15 new players and trying to gel a whole new squad (again). I just wonder if our decision not to extend their furlough wages will put some of them off from re-signing for the club?
  19. If we could afford to sign 2 of the following 4 out of contract ex-players, who would you go for? Joe Thomson Gav Reilly Jamie McDonald Ian McShane Probably Thomson & Reilly for me.
  20. Think they have released all 17 out of contract players
