Jeez our defending remains bloody awful and the keeper doesn't cover himself in glory either. Dreadful stuff.

Give the Keeper a game from Peterhead Ferguson just goes through the motions our crap defence starts with him .

Great for Rangers us giving young boys experience but both our young  defenders struggle .

Maxwell good going forward but always out of position Breen one day might make it but look at Andy Graham that is the  type of defender we need not boys

I don't think it's a particular contradiction. I imagine McCabe is referring to light fitness work on their own and Johnston means joining in with the group working with a ball. Either way I'm not particularly expecting to see McKee and Dobbie on Friday. Shields remains to be seen how bad that ankle is.

McCabe talks a good game just wish he could play as good.

Shields ankle is badly swollen would be amazed if he plays again this month .

McKee (calf)  and Dobbie(groin) are at least 2 weeks away .

Time for another boy to sign on loan

If Shields is out for any length of time Faissal El Bakhtaoui is now a free agent. Just thought Id put it out there.

If El Bak is available we must try and sign him that would be the signing to keep us up .

Shields ankle is badly swollen even at best he will be out weeks we will need a replacement probable end up getting another boy on loan .

Very much a game of two halves. Thought we dominated the first half, or at least the first half hour and probably should have been more than one up. Shields and Fitzpatrick should both do better with clear chances at 1-0.

Good to get another chance to see the equaliser. Wondered at the time if it might have been a foul on Shields or a head knock but I dont actually see much wrong with it. Graham is knocked into Shields by Obileye and he goes over him quite badly but if it was a head knock then it wasnt immediately obvious and I dont blame the ref for playing on. Looks like Maxwell at the near side is probably just playing Graham onside too. We have to do a better job of recognising quicker that with Shields out of the game, Graham is all alone. Still, the whole thing is unfortunate. Its completely against the run of play at the time, its a freak injury to Shields and the ball deflected to an unmarked Graham as a result.

I'd have liked to see the foul that ended Shields game again too. It looked a bad one. Alloa were pretty 'robust' first half. We werent remotely as effective once Shields departed. Mebude has some good things to offer but he's not a direct replacement for Shields and the formation didnt really work once he came on. Pybus was less effective deeper too.

No complaints 2nd half. Better side won, we were poor. Only the header from Obileye well saved by Parry and the late shot for Jones he should at least have hit target with to show for the half. The winner is horrible. Cawley gets a pretty much free header and we are static when it rebounds back to him. The Cameron chip and the Buchanan pull back acriss the face of goal were both better chances to add to the margin than anything we offered.

Disappointing day. Opportunity missed to go joint 5th. Instead we are back in 9th. Its so tight in the middle but we have a tough 3 weeks now with Hearts, Inverness, Dundee and Dunfermline to come.

Disappointing day I would go further and say a disaster simply not good enough .

We need to sign men not boys Alloa experience won them the game we have a clueless manager who has no plan B.

What is Goss going to do in the 90th min

If we had a decent defence, the game today would have finished 1-0, even after Shields went off.
The defence is absolute garbage and would be on schedule to concede 82 goals in a normal season. That awful Brechin team that was out of its depth conceded 90.
What we have is an all the eggs in one basket policy of relying on Shields to outscore the opposition, either by himself or by creating for others.  Very difficult to do when you pretty much need to score a minimum of 3 to win nearly every game.

You always build a team from the back not the other way round .

No point saying this not going to happen  but I would sack Alan Johnston for today's result it was that bad .

The man is clueless fine when Sheilds is on top form winning games but when things go wrong he does not have a clue how to change things or how to use his subs .

Any other manager goes 2 -1 down you react change things not just hope things will be okay .

Goss on 90 min go 3 at the back really go for it in the last min .

When we went 2 up against Arbroath Dick Campbell changed it straight away we did nothing almost lost the game

Frustrating half for us. We started really well and got into decent positions after the goal. The stop starting seems to have effected our flow. Annoyingly Alloa don't look any better attacking wise than they did at Palmerston but they are very much in this game. Need to make some of these half chances/positions count.

At this point I'll be happy to avoid any more injuries. Can't recall Alloa being such hatchet men but it's certainly on show today, either that or QoS players are falling at the slightest thing, which hasn't been the case all season tbh.

Losing Shields is a huge blow our main goal threat worried about this 2nd half

Looks like Pybus dropping deeper to play beside McCabe with one of Fitzpatrick, East or Jones playing off Shields.

Hopefully, whoever it is can press the ball like Pybus. Thas been a big part of our recent run of form.

I would not have changed a winning team hopefully Pybus still plays off Shields surely AJ would not change that maybe East to play beside McCabe .Fitzpatrick and Jones wide

There is a lot of truth in that though with the caveat that if you had a smallish squad to begin with then adding depth without necessarily improving your first 11 can make for a good window.

    Based on above I'd say:

Alloa - Marginal improvement in that Cameron gives them another option up front but he hardly impressed at Ayr, Wright is neither here nor there, he's not starting anyway.
Arbroath - Good window. None of the players they lost were starting whilst Hamilton has hit the ground running and Williamson has impressed already too. Davidson and Moore don't need to offer much to be upgrades too.
Ayr United - Good window. Cameron and Anderson had done the square root of hee haw largely. Wright doesn't need to do much to be an upgrade whilst it's clear already that Ndaba improves them at the back. McGavin addresses a problem for them too but it remains to be seen how good he actually is.
Dundee - On paper a good window but there is a concern that kids from Tottenham will underwhelm in an alien environment and that Cummings has been trading on his Hibs reputation for years. He did the square root of not very much at Rangers, Forest and Shrewsbury. McMullan is what McMullan is. He's a flying machine winger, at times unplayable, at times anonymous. He's probably an upgrade on McDaid though.
Dunfermline - As you say, not actually that much doing, mostly forward planning with the centre half, Wighton and MacDonald.. Banks will probably add something but the team was probably the 2nd best in the division already and still is.
Hearts - No idea. Not seen Mackay-Steven for a couple of years and the other three new signings are complete mysteries, though Gnanduillet did score twice on his debut. The losses were not part of their existing team so no big deal.
Inverness CT - Unquestionably bad. Lost what on the face of it was their best player. Added nothing.
Morton - Not great. Squad is weaker in numbers. McPake at least had been very effective. Still don't have any cover at goalkeeper and added only a mystery striker from Tottenham who might be a revelation. Or might not.
Raith Rovers - Decent window. Kennedy is a great signing. Gullan will certainly add something. Jury very much out on Abraham as to whether he's better than Duku. King's done nothing in years. Ethan Ross is certainly a loss but Kennedy is better.

And QOS - Can't really be objective but I'd say good window. Lost a winger who has been injured almost the whole season and traded him for two flyinig forward players / wingers in Mebude and Jones. Jones yet to actually be seen since our game was off last weekend but Mebude already showed enough in his brief cameo v Morton to suggest he adds something. We desperately needed more defensive cover and got it in Breen. His debut was encouraging and presumably he'll likely keep his place for now.

Queens window was more not to lose players  like we did last Jan

The new signing are all young a bit of a gamble none have played at this level before hopefully all can make the step up fine having flying forwards but it is how you use that pace that matters

Yes, it is good. Although I suspect quite a lot of it will be down to the club having a substantially reduced wage bill, and having minimal other costs between about the 20th of March and 31st May. If the season had played out to a finish, the income from walk-ups for the 4 games probably wouldn’t have been that much but the full wage bill would have had to be paid. It is also possible we could have finished last, which would have reduced the prize money.
So, although the profit is welcome, you’d need to see how much of it was due to the pandemic.

    I thought I was negative

.The club makes a profit last season and going to make a very good profit this season as well

The Dykes and Scots Gov. money will help us but surely that is all that matters

It's good but its still a little positive for his jollyness.

Skyline you are right a good 1st attempt I would have said more about us getting relegated and that we are a young team with no experience and that all the good work over the last month will be wasted if we lose this.

Good competition for East and Fitzpatrick. East gives us someone to aim for out wide but apart from that I haven't been convinced with him out there. Hopefully he ups his game with two wide players coming in.

Is that 6 wide players we have now .

Surprised we signed another thought we would have signed a centre midfielder still a bit weak in there for me .

Is that us for loans now allowed 6 plus emergency loan for a keeper .

Well it clearly is. Another 1st choice keeper isn't what we need, which I presume is your point. We could do with someone to cover the bench until either Leighfield or Cowie is fit though. I wouldn't want to run with one keeper for a month or so though, especially given Ferguson was far from fully fit yesterday. Dan's season is over before it began unfortunately so that option is gone. We need to find another keeper before next weekend.

Morton have had just the 1 keeper all season

Do we not just keep signing Gary Manley on emergency weekly loan deals till we get another keeper fit .

On the subject of loans have we just 1 more to use loan window closes end of February ?

Yep, seeing the highlights and replay now the Morton defence just opens up for Fitzpatrick, that said it was impressive pace that took him clear in the first place but you'd have thought that one of those defenders would have blocked his path.

As for the big miss at the end, well if that had been a Queens player and we'd have been a goal down with hardly any time left I'd have been fair howlin' at that miss too.  It's so easy for a talentless armchair expert like me to be critical, but to be fair to the lad the ball had taken a high bounce and he had to hit in on the rise as well so probably not actually the easiest ball to keep down.

Oh and don't want to criticise Shields as he's been magic of late, but his late one-on-one ...... if only he'd seen wee Mebude to his left .... as I said, us armchair experts .... 😏

Shields must have seen Mebude they went through together had to be a simple pass to Mebude

As you say hard to criticise Sheilds and  he did get a good shot at goal away good save .

He had a bad ankle injury which kept him out two months before Xmas and has a minor groin issue now. He is back at Motherwell for treatment until he is fit again. He is still on loan to us.

How many more loans can we make .

Robinson can we cancel the loan would that give us another loan to use he has done nothing even when he was fit .

Well deserved point for Arbroath. Dundee should have been 2 or even 3 up by HT. Thought Dundee were terrible 2nd half. Some great touches by Adam but too many ‘Hollywood’ passes when just keeping the ball was what was required IMHO. This from someone who wanted a Dundee win for obvious reasons in the relegation zone.

Arbroath had a very good chance in the 1st half as well it was not all Dundee .

2nd half  Arbroath deserved at least a point could even have won it

Arbroath gave everything some Dundee players did not .

Good example at the end Dundee forward with a bit more effort should score but the Arbroath defender wanted it more gets the ball away

  16. It is really strange that Skyline stopped his constant posting right after the Galloway fiasco was he involved in it all nobody will ever find out .

Back to more important things not looking like we are getting the 2 new signing AJ wants this week but what would be the point signing someone just  to sit on the bench .

As you said above DD.  Bit of a reality check for us today.

Our defence and centre midfield is weak any time a team has a go at us we look like we will concede every time they go forward .

How often has a simple corner to the back post result in a free header no excuse for that.

I can guarantee Arbroath would not chuck away a 2 goal lead as easily as we did .
