  1. The junior legends return after a three year break when they contest the Alex Gourlay Cup at New Tinto Park on Saturday July 2nd. The event will be played as a 7-a-side format across the pitch with events kicking off at 1pm.

All teams involved are mainly made up of ex players from the sides they are representing and promises to be a great day once again, we are waiting on one team to confirm but at present the following sides will be represented,

Benburb, Port Glasgow, Greenock, Kilbirnie Ladeside, Larkhall Thistle, St Roch's, Petershill, Tantallon Victoria, Arthurlie, Cumnock, Auchinleck Talbot, Largs Thistle, PG & Dac's All Stars, Clydebank, Beith, Neilston, and Ashfield.

The action kicks off at 1pm and entry is £5 for adults with OAP's and children free.

Hopefully there will be a good turnout for what is always a great day.

Thank you very much, Arthurlie1981 and Satori. , very thankful.

Hi, sorry for the late arrival but.... David Fulton, Digger, is also the record appearance maker for Junior Scotland which as things are will never be beaten.

  3. My last comment on this will be this, everything through time will come out in the wash. I have seen documents, know several people who have been to every meeting etc.  I am not saying for one second that everything we have posted is 100% factual, I will say that everything we have posted to our knowledge is factual.

Bottom line as clubs we all have to make our own decisions that are best for each of us. For anyone willing to throw dirt at any club irrespective of their stance, think again or better still if you have a voice get involved with your local club and make that voice heard.

I would hope it would be, however probably not😕

Can I just say that Arthur McGettigan has given many years to Arthurlie FC not just in his position, various positions, he has always done what he thought was right for the club. Right or wrong I have the upmost respect for him because apart from his shirt and tie events he is down at Dunterlie Park fixing divots, doing this that the other, the things that punters don't see but moan if its not done.

All the best Arthur and after speaking to a few people today I can confirm that if not all then most of the original statement seems to be true.

No point in replying he said she said.... lets let it run its course and see where we are.

Final point, for all those having an opinion and getting angry, join the committee and you will have a say.

To everyone from anywhere keep your family close, sty safe and stay healthy.

  5. Due to the current situation regarding CV, Pulse Radio has advised that no guests will be permitted into the station from this week only. Therefor Nugent4nil will be hanging up its microphones until things change.

We will be back but in the meantime we would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year, good helth to you and your families.

Sorry for singling you out, it wasn't a personal thing more to make a point. I have been transparent on here from day one basically because I host a radio show and my name is Robert Burns. I love junior football, I love the way we always come together etc. I also realise that times are definitely changing, and adapt or die is probably true at the moment.

I kinda like to think that this year will be the 12th Legends event I have arranged and I am also coming up for nine years on the radio promoting junior football clubs that I am entitled to an opinion.

I have been wrong on many occasions, at other times I might have said something you or others didn't agree with but... I have given guests a platform to speak and while I maybe didn't agree with them I gave them air space because... life is all about opinions as is football.

I would honestly like to think that although you don't agree with my thoughts, if you listened a few weeks ago, I did state all go or nobody goes don't leave any clubs behind, now that seems the way Talbot are going and I applaud them.

I have spoken to Burnie Man on a few occasions and in years gone past he helped me regards the Arthurlie programme, I don't agree with lots of things he says but I have the upmost respect for his views because I know who he is and what he has done for his club and juniors as a whole.

Yourself though are sat behind a user name and trawling my twitter account from last year?

I just have to ask one question...... why?

Anyway all the best to all the present junior clubs, and all of the football community getting through this virus.

    Take good care folks

Last Wednesday, Jimmy McQuade was the 1st inductee into the Arthurlie hall of fame. A night was held in his honour in the Arthurlie Inns .   A large crowd attended what turned out to be a fantastic night.

The Scottish Cup was brought along as he was Arthurlie manager when we lifted the trophy in 98.  Some lovely memories from guest speakers who spoke in glowing terms about Jimmy.  A well deserved honour .

I have noted a strange lack of information of this night on any of the Arthurlie media outlets.  Any other club would have pictures  plastered all over the place. Our committee are indeed a strange bunch, only 3 deemed the night worthy of their attendance. I was also told that past Presidents/ Vice Presidents didn't attend because they have no time for the present incumbents, neither of whom turned up anyway. The petty rivalries couldn't even be put aside for an Arthurlie legend.

Congratulations to Robert on a well organised night .  It was a privilege to be there and pay homage to Mr. McQuade.

It wasnt advertised on any forum as it was a secret for Jimmy. I was soley responsible for organising the night and tried my best to get as many along as I could.

It willl happen again next year regards the hall of fame and it will be made public.

  8. Last comment tonight, maybe for a while. So many have had a go at me for my personal opinions but most on here know me or at least know my name, I have never hid that. Robert Burns Arthurlie supporter.... just does my nut in that all the ones having a pop are behind user names.

I am NOT for a second saying any of your view points are wrong or indeed right but FFS at least have the courage of your convictions and name yourselves.

We are all in this because we love juniors fitbaw times ARE changing and we all have different ideas how we go forward so be open be honest and also if any of you fancy coming on the radio your more than welcome.

Nugent, have you done any research into the pyramid and what it would entail for your club? But the sounds of your post I get the impression you have not.

There are no increased costs, no emergency services costs (this is a new one) and no further travel than your club has now.

To get to tier 5, clubs will have to work towards it in terms of their off the field investment.

Your club would still be the same club, they dont have to change anything, there is no 'special feeling to the grade', its 11 players trying to play football against another 11 players, trying to score more goals than each other.

I have and to go forward things would change, if you can give me the benefits of moving I will happily look over them. My one and only worry and personal thought is that if ones team goes we all go I don't want teams left behind that end up closing shop all to join a league where if you get promotion two years running your playing against a ten year old team with no park and zero support apart from family.

everything you say is simply wrong I respect you for your opinion and all the things you have done to promote the juniors but the first problem you will find their won't be many teams left to form an association junior football as we know it will end you may not like it but it will. The only thing that will change is the name no more junior and club's like arthurlie will continue as normal over the next 10 years teams at the top will change as they progress as long as the upgrade their ground to meet the sfa licence other than that nothing changes. Junior grounds everywhere are decaying fast like dunterlie and if they can't find money from somewhere then it will get even worse and widen the gap between yourselves and those who are lucky enough to do improvements albeit a junior team of a senior team.

I absolutely get what youve said and I do agree with most, what I dont get is the hunger for clubs to become senior as the likes of Pollok for example have bigger crowds than the bottom two senior leagues. Senior football in Scotland imo has too many clubs, many junior supporters follow clubs because they are junior clubs, lots of them have a favorite 'big' team so the likes of Arthurlie moving up would mean they lose support to St Mirren and the old firm

With the current weather conditions Arthurlie have arranged a provisionally friendly for tomorrow.  Its Arthurlie v Ashfield @ The Cowan Park Astro Barrhead with an 11am kick off.
Obviously this depends on both sides games being called off which will be notified tomorrow morning.

I may pop along, will you be there ?

    Nope im in hibernation mode

To be honest, I think a slebbering mess and dinosaur comment is not needed but I do believe that your posted arguments above are just ,... nothing to write home about.

What's it got to do with playing against a team who are new, absolutely nothing. Every team , including the team you follow, and I follow started new at one time or another so everyone should be and is given the chance to start and should not suffer.

Clubs like Clydebank and Kilwinning and not leaving because they want in the Scottish cup, they are leaving because they want to progress and better themsefls, what's wrong with that.
I guarantee there are clubs who do not want to leave but will consider leaving because they are fearful what will happen if certain other teams leave.

You say all the clubs going to the pyramid will and I quote "and will mean you have to have floodlights, emergency services, raise your prices, etc." but that will only happen to teams who win the WOS League or EOS league or SOS league, NOT ONE SINGLE TEAM BELOW TEIR 5 needs to change anything right now and many will NEVER need to change as they will stay where they are at the level that is right for them.

I made my comments about the podcast and now do I feel the podcast is objective ?, NO IT IS NOT.  When the chairman stated that they would have to pay tons of money to join the pyramid, why wasn't he corrected there when most know that to be untrue .

If I was for the pyramid, which I am or for the juniors I would look at both points negative and positive and try and come up with an objective view knowing that being objective, I would find the best solution for my club that either staying or joining.

Thanks you so much, a reasonable and qualified opinion which I may agree or not with but the fact youve actually taken time is appreciated.

Regards the show, anyone is welcome along they have free reign to talk so opinions vary,if you fancy coming along one Thursday night to Barrhead you willbe more than welcome.

    Robert,

Nobody is forcing any team to join the pyramid as it stands.

Teams can stay junior if they want, or sign up for the new WosFL.

Each to their own, and no club should be criticised for their decision, as long as their office bearers have made a proper investigation into the facts.

Correct Peter, my worry is we go or stay but some will be left behind and iMO id love the West Juniors to either go enmass or stay.

Jexit will obviously happen, as in the Juniors leaving the current set up but for what?
A chance to be promoted into the Lowland League that has clubs younger than your match day mascots who have a zero fan base, more traveling, more costs in traveling,  less 'local' derby's.
YES there is that carrot of the 'BIG' Scottish Cup and the chance of entering the bottom tier of the SPFL which is dying on its arse and will mean you have to have floodlights, emergency services, raise your prices, etc.
I follow Junior football because I love it, name another grade where your team can win a cup but you know you will hold it that night?
Name a grade where you know every player by first and nicknames and can share a bear with them after.
The list is endless, my huge worry is that some will go and others will be left behind hence IMO if one goes we all go if not we stay as we are and look at the possibilities.
I love junior football and must state that while many make comments about this and that that member clubs vote in the West committee and clubs vote in their representative's so if your a member and not happy do something rather than sit on here and moan.

The bit about knowing a players name and nickname, absolutely embarrassing. Can't believe the Linlithgow fans don't know their players names now.....

I get you, sorry, I mean if they go up to the SPLF
