That would be hilarious and would explain his odd reaction to the whistle.

Surely not though?  That would be a catastrophic error and would surely have emerged as such by now.  It's a lovely thought though.

Had a similar, but reverse, experience at Bolton Wanderers in the Anglo Scottish Cup back in the day. I’d been chucked out the ground earlier (long story) and as it was a Tuesday evening I watched “Its a Knockout” in a pub across from the ground then sneaked back in the home end when they opened the gates with 15 to go.

At the end of 90 we’d lost 2-0 (Sam Allardyce double) and as we’d won the home game 4-2 and I was on my tod in the home end, I thought we were out on away goals and headed for the exit.

Soon realised no-one else was leaving. Turned out away goals only counted after extra time (odd rule). The rest is history. Jimmy Bone scores. We won the game and later the cup itself. Finally got to leave the ground for the third time, for good, in triumph. They knocked it down and moved to the Reebok a few years later, but I’ve no been back.

He’s been my favourite player since the end of last season, shame he took until January to get going this season though. emoji2.png

Pish game but that’ll do for us. I thought Hladky, Gary Mac and Paul McGinn all had very good games. Would have liked to have seen Mullen on earlier though. I don’t think Kearney is a fan of him really.

I think the fact that he's just become a dad makes a difference -  he wouldn't be 100% on it. Better saving him until Sunday. Cooke gave us that luxury by scoring a hat trick last Sunday - had to start after that. Is Jackson back for Sunday?

  3. Just to add to that, the one person I would have really liked to manage us if JR had gone earlier (say to Dundee or Barnsley) is Stevie Clarke. That's not going to happen now, but of the current list of available managers, Robbie Neilson stands out a mile, in my view.

I want JR to stay, of course, but there is a part of me saying if JR is going to go, then it might be best for him to go now whilst Robbie Neilson is available.

  4. I would have thought a major consideration would be continuity. We've had a particular style of play over the last 18 months that has served us well and has led to us recruiting particular types of players (and losing others). If JR goes (and takes Fowler with him), surely we want a manager that continues with that, perhaps only looking to strengthen us a little with a bit more physical presence throughout the spine of the team.

I'm sure Gordon Scott knows this and so the people he will be looking at are people that could fill the bill.  To my mind, that would rule out the likes of Hopkin (regardless of how well he has done this season - and he has) and Aitken and all the old codgers who get trotted out every time there is a vacancy. However, it may well include Goodwin (who is using some of JRs past and present players) and Neilson who JR  "interacted very closely with" (according to JR himself) at Hearts.

I'd love to know how the fixtures are worked out. We played Falkirk on the opening day and in mid-October, then weren't scheduled to play them again until early March - and then we finish the season against them. Weird.

I reckon the gap might come down a bit this weekend. Livvy have drawn their last three so are due a win, although they're unbeaten in about 10 so they're due a defeat. However, they're playing Dumbarton and there's more chance of intelligent life being found in Greenock than of Livvy losing to them.

We've won four league games in a row for the third time this season. The previous two times we did that we've then dropped points (draw with Morton, loss to Livvy) and we haven't won five in a row since the title winning season in 2005/06 (and more than five on the spin since the Millennium Champions season). Of course, that doesn't automatically mean we won't win, just highlighting previous stats, law of averages and similar gibberish.

However, not all doom and gloom. The Morton and Livvy games were promptly followed up by us winning four in a row, which would be more than enough to see us home. So maybe our biggest threat is Jack winning manager of the month...

No sweat. If we draw our remaining seven games we are guaranteed to win the league.

And Shull and other oddballs not a million miles away which was why I chucked it years ago.

They've all gone years ago, Jimmy. Honest.

Go back, Jimmy, Go back. It is feels like Elysium there now.

..........................or at least it did, until the Barnsley and Livingston debacles and then only "winning" against Brechin.

Overall - financial, status, progression, shop window for further progression, bigger club, bigger games, the list goes on.

Even if it was just financial, only in football would people expect someone to easily turn that down.

And far too much significance is being given to a potential Scottish Championship win on his CV, which he would still claim anyway even if he left today.

Quite. Presumably if he was a player he’d already have enough appearances for a medal should we go on and win it.

I don’t think this is the move he will make but it will come soon enough. All a bit unsettling but a win on Saturday would help a lot.

Car drivers, inevitably elderly, who stop about 5 feet away from the Give Way/Stop line, then move forward and stop again right on the line (as they should have done first time around).

Only question I got wrong in my US drivers licence theory test many years ago  (in Seattle, by co-incidence), was what to do approaching a "Yield" sign on a slip road onto a freeway. The answer is speed up, apparently. Cars already on the freeway in the inside lane will be expecting you to do this and let you in. Had no end of trouble with this when I came back to the UK.

When you put it that way, I realise that we definitely didn't pump you that day.

It was a slightly unusual game, though. By no means a pumping but at half time it was 1-1 and most thought we were very lucky to be level. Straight after the restart we gave away another penalty and had Baird sent off, so game over and there is no way of knowing what might have been. For the first half, though, when it was 11 v 11, Morton were the better team by some distance.
