  1. Exactly.
Now, this was real pressure. Only 6 short seasons ago.
Astonishing turn around in fortunes for us (and Montrose tbf). I remember this time whenever I’m feeling a  little disappointed in a result or performance (e.g. drawing with Partick Thistle) and reflect on just how close we were to the abyss.
ETA amazingly we had 3 starters yesterday that we’re playing for us in that horrific season - Linn, Gold and Little.

Took 10 points fro East Stirlingshire that season which was the difference. Little, Linn, Gold all in the squad that season.
  2. Don’t think that’s the case at all. We just cannot keep a hold of the ball for any length of time, like a hot tattie. Been like that since Hamilton at home in midweek. Glad there is a 7 day break for them now.
Yeah I don't think that was the plan but we were definitely making sure we were tough to breakdown. Lacking a wee bit of a spark but I though young Hammy had a great game today. Jack put in a shift up front but were didn't play to his strengths today.
A great result to grind out. Hopefully Low will be fit and we can really go for it the last 8 games. Nothing to lose.
  3. Yes, I corrected todays money for the decreased purchasing capacity of the same sums over nearly two and a half years with 5% inflation. In short, you would rather have £100 today than £100 in two and a half years. The concept of Time Value of Money calculates the delta and shows what a stream of payments is equivalent to in todays money. That’s how they pay lottery winners less than the jackpot if they select cash value option. They give them the cash amount it would take to purchase an annuity contract that paid the jackpot over 20 years or so.
The tax implications are exactly 5%. He would be paying 40% income tax until £150,000, and then pays 45% above that. So the marginal change is 5%…he would always pay at least 40% income tax on the money.
Remember though that every tax year you get a tax free allowance then so much income taxed at starter rate 19% then basic rate 20% then intermediate rate 21% then higher rate 41%. If you get all the money in the same tax year you will be paying a lot more at higher rate and only the benefit of 1 years personal allowance. That's way more than 5% if that's your only income stream.
  4. I know Hilsons form isn't good but he played well last season, in behind Jack Hamilton, leave McKenna in centre mid with Hendo, wee Hammy at RB, Stewart wide right, but we will have disagree on Hendo's abilities
Undoubtedly Hilson is best when he's playing just behind the striker but he's miles off it. I'd rather play Swankie if his ban is over. I would probably go with Mckenna further forward and bring Gold into midfield. He was the best player on the pitch for us against QOTS and always reliable.
  5. Playing with some basic assumptions: 130 week contract, 125 weeks left at £1,200 per, equals a nice round £150,000. With inflation running in the 5% range, we can set the time value of that at about £133,000 paid today. The net marginal tax rate impact is in the 5% range, so around £137,000 is a “fair” buyout figure from those assumptions.
He is likely in a pretty dark place mentally, seeing very little future going forward, so he’d certainly seem likely to be looking to maximize his income. I suspect DG will be leaving Scotland (and the UK) a soon as his contract is up.
I think you need to rethink this one. You have deducted money for inflation and the tax implications are far bigger than 5%
  6. The league is so tight now. Everyone is fairly close in terms of ability top to bottom. Good signs are we're still picking up points in games we have been fairly poor in. If we can go on a wee run it might just be enough to seal the league. A great season no matter what happens now but we're still in with a great shout and the players are up for it.

  7. Chelsea will be kicking themselves. Missed 3 sitters and a dubious offside decision against Lukaku. The quicker they get those kind of offsides out of the game the better. Good game to watch though and had to laugh at Kepa ballooning over. Destiny

  8. He didn't display much of that yesterday, I've said already fair play if he was playing out of position. But he was hopeless at left wing.
He is more suited to the defensive side of the game rather than offense. He definitely didn't deserve a booking for the foul on the keeper. He was going to take a strike at goal and the goalie makes a good interception. Its a foul but nothing more.
  9. Completely pointless. Suspect it's mainly seen as a nice holiday to Hawaii for most of the people involved.

Players aren't going to go hell for leather and risk getting injured in a meaningless game.
It was in Vegas this year. Hasn't been Hawaii since 2016. I think the Aloha stadium has been condemned.

It is a pointless game though.
