  1. Right folks, get your money on a Daily Record exclusive interview on monday about the heroic 'bomber' brown and his plans to save rangers. Was going for lunch today in Glasgow and who should be sitting having a very cosy chat in Cafe Gandolfi? None other than Mr James Traynor and john 'bomber' brown. Typical, while Jim spence is phoning chairman and speaking to fans, Traynor is spoon feeding the latest rangers stooge some cherry cheesecake and the party line.
  2. Well argued. Potentially Rangers are therefore The Undertaker - Won everything but is purported to be dead. Does that make the Newco, Kane? Related but in a damaged, much less credible way. The Red, White and Blue Machine?
  3. If you mean do I expect a personal response, then that's certainly not what I expect. To be honest, I'm not even convinced anyone, let alone the chairmen will read the whole tome. BUT, the act of actively putting something out there that says 'gonnae no do THAT' and having that register with them is enough for me, if only so I sleep at night knowing I did my bit. If you mean more generally, if they vote Rangers back in, it's hopefully quite clear in my letter that with a very heavy heart I say I won't be going back to their or any other clubs grounds. It's a comparison that's been made before but if they give the nod then we are in WWE territory and Rangers are John Cena, really unpopular, dull to watch but brings in the money because morons buy his merchandise and no mark messages. I'm now trying to figure out which WWE wrestlers other clubs would be, which is showing up my embarassing knowledge of pro-wrestling. Celtic - Seamus, obviously Aberdeen - Maybe The Undertaker, once a legendary performer now creaking at the seams and only really performing once in a blue moon Hibs - The Big Show, should be good but too bloated and self indulgent to actually achieve anything I think I'm going to go now.
  4. When I first started watching Saints, Andy Rhodes was my hero. I've never been a particularly good judge of a goalie
  5. Aye, noticed that. All fine on Word on lap-top and on emails that have been sent so not sure what's happened there. I've seen enough semi-literate rambling on the various forums since this thing kicked off (Hiya RM, Hiya Pals) to figure a few missed spaces won't bother anyone too much. Hopefully.
  6. To be clear, I'm suggesting you write your own, I'm just sharing mine. Would find it very odd for other folk to be emailing their chairman citing my first born as a reason for their feelings!
  7. Hello, long time listener, first time calle...No that's not right. Long time reader and can I just say credit to those of you out there with the knowledge, humour and stamina to keep this thread going. I thought I would chip in with my own meagre thoughts on the subject and these are that if you are posting on this thread and feel genuinely passionate about the right thing happening over the coming weeks, then email, call or write to your club. I work in a role whereby I help people lobby, pressure and consult with those in power and nothing changes minds more than informed and credible information and evidence being presented to the decision makers. As such, I am emailing all SPL clubs the text below, it is my own half thought out rants and feelings about the situation, I would urge you all to do something similar ASAP. All of you on here are doing a fine job but pressure groups fail when they talk to themselves and themselves alone, please make sure your arguments are heard beyond this website. ___________________________________ To the respective Chairmen of the SPL Clubs, I write to express my own personal view regarding theongoing situation regarding Rangers Football Club. I would state however that Iam confident that this is a view held by the majority of fans of the remainingclubs in the SPL and the SFL. To get straight to the point, I believe you as custodians ofyour respective clubs have a duty in the coming weeks to ensure that when ScottishFootball, that most beloved yet beleaguered institution, kicks off again nextseason that it does so as a sporting tournament with its integrity intact. You and you alone will make the final choice: sportingintegrity or financial stability. However, when you make that final decision rememberthat you are the representatives of clubs whose histories extend across threecenturies and that your decision should set the course for another twocenturies of proud tradition. Please remember that the chairmen combined arethe representatives of Scottish Football, a sport with a modest yet proudhistory which has, over the past 10-15 years deliberately or inadvertently doneall it can to repress competition and passion in favour of profit, selfpreservation and regulations. Please remember that the status quo that so many statecan only be preserved by retaining a Rangers Football Club is one whereby hope, that most vital ingredient for publicly consumed sport, is waiting to see ifone half of the Old Firm get knocked out of the Cup because then you might, just might have a chance. Please try and think about those glorious scenes whenKilmarnock Football Club won the League Cup this year, think about Hampdenbedecked in Maroon and Green during this seasons Scottish Cup Final and knowthat it is only with more moments like this can Scottish Football survive: knowthat only with the right decisions made over the next few weeks can this beachieved. I strongly believe that the only reason that one footballclub should be dependent upon another is for them to provide sportingcompetition within the overall structure of a viable, competitive and trulysporting league format. I strongly believe that if the loss of a RangersFootball Club from the top flight means severe cost cutting or even part-timefootball for some clubs that your fans will follow if they know that the mutualinterchange of rivalries and competition is a fair and structured one. To bemore succinct, as a Saint Johnstone fan I will follow any team that wears theblue strip and plays in Perth and I do not care if the team is made up ofeleven lads from Letham as long as I know that my team is competing in a fairfight. There is an emotional dimension to this situation and again,I beseech you to take this into account. Following Saint Johnstone FootballClub up and down the divisions and across the great and the grotty ground ofScotland has been a hobby, a passion and a bonding experience for me, my fatherand the friends we meet at these games. Over the past 10 years, the period wherethe main misdemeanours of Rangers are alleged to have taken place, my Fatherand I will have spent upwards of £5000 following our club. We have roared asMartin Hardie scored a vital goal at Broadwood on a famous yet unheard ofnight, we cried as the now defunct Gretna bought a league title from us in thelast minute of the last game of the season, and we delighted in watching thelikes of Enckelman, Morris, Duberry and Sandaza grace the pitch at McDiarmid. To know that all the time, money and emotion invested in these matches was anillusion hurts and it angers. To know that the Cup defeats to Rangers wereactually rigged in favour of one club takes away a family memory and replacesit with something sour. What also tastes sour is the knowledge that if a RangersFootball Club walk back into the top level of Scottish Football then I will notbe back at McDiarmid Park. What tastes sour is that my soon to arrivefirst-born will not attend their first game with me. Will not stand side byside with me during the great and the grotty games, will not have the chance toturn to me and give me the type of hug that my father did with me when SaintJohnstone won the solitary cup competition of their long and rather quiet history. I will not travel with the small butvibrant group of away fans to Rugby Park, St Mirren Park or Tynecastle. I willnot revel in the last minute winners and I will not mourn the last minutemissed sitters. I will not be back because if it is accepted that my team andScottish Football as a whole is merely a platform dependent upon and built tosupport a Rangers Football Club then I will know that precious pounds cannot bespent upon such a sham. There is however an additional emotional dimension that hasbeen pushed to the surface by some but should be ignored. That is thesuggestion that any discussions about a Rangers Football Club starting againfrom the bottom are driven by any petty lust for revenge for all of Rangers sportingsuccesses. There will always be ‘big’ teams and ‘small’ teams and it has alwaysbeen a pained pleasure of mine to support one of the smaller teams. Thissupport has however been based upon the misplaced belief that my team was competingin a fair and just sporting competition. Being beaten by a ‘big’ team I canaccept; those defeats being enshrined within a structure set up to support the ‘big’teams, I cannot and nor should you. In addition, I could quite eloquently write a small novelstating my personal reasons for disliking both side of the Old Firm. These reasonsrange from a dislike of their links (willing or otherwise) to the nationwideproblem of sectarianism and the fact that their duopoly has led Scottishfootball to become a laughing stock across the football world. My reasons couldextend to having suffered the unpleasant and aggressive atmosphere at Ibrox andCeltic Park, through to the fact that I have been physically attacked for myalleged religious affiliations on three separate occasions: something thatstill mystifies this avowed atheist. My reasons have in the past few months havealso extended to a strong distaste for the threatening, bullying, untruthfuland arrogant statements that have poured from representatives of RangersFootball Club (some paid representatives and some more loosely aligned in our ratherreluctant to investigate sports media) over the past few months. From thesemouthpieces I have yet to hear a single apology or more importantly, a logical argumentthat states that Rangers should continue at the top level because they could playa positive role in helping Scottish football. I again state however that my personalirritation is put well aside when I state my plea to the custodians of our onceproud football clubs to do what is right in the coming weeks. In summary, you are Chairmen of businesses which currentlyface an uncertain future. You have a choice to make in the coming weeks whichis not easy. What I would ask of you, on behalf of all Scottish Football fanswho want to return to the game next season with renewed passion, is to take thehard route: choose integrity over finance. You may feel you need Rangers but truthbe told, you need us, the fans more. We will follow you wherever you go, if youmake the right decision. Regards,
