  1. As has been pointed out on many occasions, joining the league is by application. No-one has applied - that doesn't mean it's closed. There are contingency plans for when the league exceeds 20 members.
  2. What is your issue with this? The possibility of grant funding from various sources due to being SFA members versus the certainty of no or little funding in the juniors? For teams wanting to improve their facilities it's a no brainer.
  3. Remind me again how it's taken nearly ten months to play 22 league fixtures in the West?
  4. Having to play four times a week at the end of the season, due to an inability to play matches in the evening earlier in the season isn't something to boast about. Have you read any of the West fixtures threads?
  5. Primary school response, mate. You need to try harder.
  6. For someone who prides themselves on the wind up, you don't take it very well yourself, do you. Poor soul.
  7. Remind me again of how many baubles you've won? One of your old arguments against joining a pyramid was you wouldn't win as many trophies because you'd have some competition...
  8. Technically it was the Lochaber Welfare League, yet another historical grade of Scottish football...
  9. Circumstances change. Sometimes you need to embrace that change. I think Burnie Man has done that - others... not so sure.
  10. It's going to be particularly difficult for any team to move up if they don't have a licence - until then it doesn't matter how many promotion places there are. I'm sure once there's a core of licenced teams in EoSFL (and obviously WoSFL) then the promotion / relegation slots will change.
  11. You can say this until the cows come home, it ain't going to happen. Dry your eyes, get on board with a WoSFL at Level 6 and get licenced. Once there is a critical mass of licenced clubs in the Lowland area, then three Level 5 leagues could be considered.
  12. No, you are wrong. The grace period was five years ago. That ship has sailed.
  13. No, Level 5 feeds directly into the SPFL. They certainly have a say - they will not want their member clubs potentially being relegated to a league full of unlicenced clubs. As has been said before - the time to discuss a three region Level 5 is once there are enough licenced clubs to form it. The grace period was five years ago. Level 6 is the entry point now for unlicensed clubs. There is nothing stopping any West clubs finding a groundshare, should they wish. A licence isn't all about the ground though. I'd be interested to know how many West clubs actually own their grounds as opposed to renting them from the local council. To me, there is no difference between renting a council ground and renting a ground from another club. If it suits the clubs and they have secure leases, why not? Yes, there is a balance between the clubs' historic location and how far away is reasonable - and I agree some clubs have pushed this quite far...
  14. There is not a need now to split at level 5. In the future, perhaps. Level 5 needs to be fully licenced now. Id say get in at Level 6, get your licence, then talk. There's not enough licenced teams in the Lowland area yet - the chance to get in at Level 5 was when the Lowland League was set up and a grace period was given. That grace period passed years ago.
  15. If a Colonsay side wanted to enter a side in the juniors they'd be in the West? Dunno? What's your point?
  16. It was more the observation that it may have been easier to integrate any interested Tayside clubs into a new setup as well as Highland clubs. It's all academic, anyway. I don't even know if there were any interested clubs outwith the HFL. Probably not.
  17. I don't think they will now, but I can help thinking it may have been the way forward all those years ago when it as first proposed. Hindsight, eh?
