Wanted St Mirren and Spartans away...feck

Ach, we’ll get to Ainslie Park twice anyway. Not a great group for aways. Killie is something different and we’ve no played at Dumbarton for over a decade.

On a different topic, does anyone know what the pricing is going to be for next season. My hope is that it’ll drop to previous League Two levels. £14 was too much for League One, never mind League Two.

I doubt there will be many who will agree with me, but in my view anything better than 8th place next year would represent a decent "base-camp" first season back in this league.

We should be looking to build a competitive squad, which sees us comfortably clear of the trap door. However, the sound of knives being gleefully sharpened will be deafening if there’s no promotion push. As I’ve said before, next season is a win-win for those who even spent a successful period of promotion and staying up sniping at the manager.

Sorry I thought he was previous player of the year . We were poor at the back last year and a good keeper would have saved us enough points to stay up .

We were losing horrific goals when he was playing, we were losing horrific goals when White played . He’s a better keeper than White, but Gianluigi Buffon couldn’t have kept us up given the way we defended all season.

As for Muir if he had played last year for the full season we would still be in league one .

There’s absolutely no basis for this. He’s a good keeper, not some sort of miracle worker. The fact that he was in goal when we conceded five at home to the worst team in the league points to this.

Yeah there is always two sides to a story but you don’t just stop playing the best keeper in the league for no reason we all know gus throws his toys out the pram!! Anyway if he did come back would be great and get us back up again!!

Also worth saying that no player is entitled to a place in the side and that any toy throwing didn’t come from the manager. If someone wants to be a Queen’s Park player, it can’t be on their terms only. If he’d wanted to remain a Queen’s Park player, he would have remained one. As has been said, I hope a line is drawn under whatever may or may not have happened.

If Gus and him patch up there differences would gladly have him back, don't blame him leaving, although shouldn't have been allowed to go during the season. Scandalous decision to let him go , no comparison between him and White.

Muir wanted to go. There are two stories, neither of which involve him being chased out of the club.

Heard from a decent source that we won't be getting new kit next season, just using the current stuff.  Hoops of course back as "home" strip.  The dark blue as "away".  Red will also be used if required

Big fan of the red strip, but it must be up there with the longest running in world fitba’. We were wearing it during *that* season and that seems an age ago.

'Tis indeed. More than disappointing. An enforced spell on the bench early in the season seemed to cool the fire that was his engine. Skilful, great shot, space maker, worked hard off the ball. He was the best chance we had to build a replacement for McKernon but as with many others his non-compliance was a bigger issue rather than letting him flourish. Hope he gets his desire for the game back at Kilby.

It's a credit to EK that they can attract players of Brady's quality when they haven't a coach in place yet.

Brian Kerr is their new manager. Paul Woods has signed for them as well. Looks like they are loosening the purse strings and having another serious tilt at it. It’s only going to get more difficult as some of the juniors come in.

  9. Inevitable. He has offers from teams who’ll be pushing at the top end of League One. From a football perspective, it’d have made no sense for him to drop down a level with a team that could possibly struggle.

An absolute pleasure to watch and a top man as well. Clearly a guy that just loves the game. No Queen’s Park fan, or indeed Clyde fan, will ever forget *that* goal. I wish him all the success in the world and hope to see him back at Hampden in some capacity in the future. The rebuilding job just got even harder.

I'd say the keeper walking out was a major factor, not sure If we tried to get an experienced keeper in or not but that may have been the difference - even getting Stewart back on loan - who's hardly kicked a ball for St Mirren.

Anyway who want to be the manager now ? Any suggestions ?

From the outside, Jim Chapman seems an obvious choice. Reasonable record before his Broadwood disaster, for which I thank him. Contacts within the game at this level will be pretty strong. I know he’s a bit of a marmite character, so not sure of how he’s rated by Rovers fans.

  11. I think it’d be fair to say that we signed a quite ludicrous deal when Hampden was rebuilt. Complete short-termism and done with a naivety that thought that a gentleman’s agreement was a good way to conduct multi-million pound business. Absolutely mind boggling when you think about it.

Whilst we’re in no way blameless for the situation we find ourselves in, we’re undoubtedly being absolutely done over by a shower of unscrupulous b*****ds who know the consequences of us not agreeing to a deal.

Nobody would expect market value in this situation, but I think most would expect something approaching a fair settlement. There is no real reason why Queen’s Park shouldn’t retain Lesser Hampden as part of any deal, for example. It’s a mutually beneficial deal, where Queen’s Park have a home and the SFA have complete control over the national stadium. What does the SFA lose if we’re at Lesser? Very little. What do we lose if we’re not playing in the Southside? Our club. To actually f**k us over and potentially leave us homeless is worse than the derisory offer that we’re going to have to take.

Not just from a TV point of view. Atmosphere would be better if everyone isn't spread out and is closer to the pitch

Murrayfield is miles away from the pitch behind the goals as well. We’re also even less likely to fill it than Hampden. There’s also the likliehood of rugby fans and their posh ways to tag along. Nothing good can come of this.

I can see good reasons for supporting both options, but knowing how much it would annoy the good people of  the West End of Edinburgh tips it in favour of Murrayfield for me.

That’d the only positive for me. My whole basis for internationals staying at Hampden is that I can be tanning cans on the couch and be at my seat in the stadium within 10 minutes of standing up from said couch. I’d quite happily do a power point presentation for the SFA board.

  14. Obviously, I have a vested interest in this debate. However, on the Murrayfield front, the main worry would be that it’d encourage rugby types to come to the football. Anything that encourages more Tories at football matches should be actively discouraged. We must be careful what we wish for.
