  1. how many of the protesters will get lifted at their demo, we should open a book.

i had a look at the sun this morning( i know, i know. i made sure i washed my hands afterwards) and after reading what that clown Andy Goram was saying, fat Sally's comments and just the general feel of what the fans are thinking about boycotts etc. it can now be confirmed that this shower believe they have a sense of entitlement. most of the shite that they come out with is not really about saving their club, it is an attempt by them to ensure that any sanction is light enough that they can get back quickly to dominate football here, a very large section of their support only follow Rangers for the glory. the SFA with these sanctions have taken the prospects of glory away for a few years at least. so what will an Ayrshire/Lanarkshire/Aberdeenshire/highland/Borders etc etc Rangers fan do when their lives become empty and "ra people" become just people.

rangers fans, unable to take the rough with the smooth

  2. I think once all this has died down there should be a root and branch review by the BBC Sportsound of its contributors. Too many have vested interests it seems to have any kind if objective view. The whole set up seems to have completely turned a blind eye to SDM "legacy". I reckon we have not been well served by our public service broadcaster on this occasion.

the BBC are notoriously bad for bias, im sure they have been reported to ofcom on various occasions in regards to other matters, outwith football of course. but i agree with what you are saying about the review, they need to undertake a mass cull and start again, they have shown no impartiality throughout this whole saga. chick young should be the first shot out of a big canon over the clyde.

  3. Rangers Media have got yet another quality thread on the go.....

    http://forum.rangers...pic=217272&st=0

Yeah, lets give tickets to a club in administration to sell and wait expectantly for the money

Christ, every time i follow a link on here to rangers media i am astounded, these clowns actually believe that Scottish football owes them something. i can't wait to see what they propose when rangers are liquidated. lets hope half of them are so upset they decide to boycott life itself

  4. For Rangers of course...Scottish football will obviously survive without Rangers

Not every club has 5000 travelling every 2nd week and of course i don't think means they should be given special treatment. Seems we are getting special treatment though

i don't know if rangers are getting special treatment, i suspect that most people would say they were getting exactly what they are due, i say this with absolutely no malice. there are hundreds of companies that go to the wall every year and are not afforded the luxury of reforming under a near identical name, with the same staff and the same premises that the previous company had. what make rangers so special.

what about the debt that is owed to a trail of clubs that spans the continent, who do you think should service that? the newco or should it be written off?

  5. I , like every Rangers i have spoken to, will not support any financial penalties,Transfer embargoes or European bans( put through by spl/sfa). If the Newco was to go along with these ridiculous suggestions the game would well and truly be over. They can have my season ticket back and after reading other forums i think that is pretty well the opinion of all Rangers supporters. I put thousands of pounds a year into the Scottish game and Scottish Economy by travelling to see my team.. We have the largets travelling support in Scotland and the other clubs can kiss goodbye to that money..This utter nonsense that teams would thrive with something to play for is simply not true..What was the crowd for St Johnstone v Motherwell when they were 3rd and 4th? I believe it was under 4000

The SPL have changed rules mid season before to help stricken clubs and keep them in the league...They have even turned a blind eye at others going into Administration but this is the first time the league has put forward rule changes to try and handicap an already stricken club. I think it is best we leave now and will see you all in a 3 or 4 years. Maybe when we get back into the SPL your clubs can go full time again :P

so you believe that a newco should not be hit with sanctions of a financial nature. you say that if transfer embargoes etc were implemented the game would be over, do you mean for you or scottish football?

in the bit about you putting thousands in to the scottish game, and the economy each year. so do most people who follow football full time, but that does not mean that the team they support should be given special treatment because someone volunteers to spend their money on a hobby, does it?

  6. Things are getting serious over on Follow Follow!

After they kill Rangers the apathetic Protestants in Scotland will not be safe.

Laugh if you will, but this isn't a sporting matter far less a laughing one.

Today's announcements have been planned and timed for maximum effect.

The point of this planning is strategic and it is aimed directly at Rangers Football Club in order to destroy it.

This is a huge step in a cultural war.

Not an opening shot, this is a fusillade aimed at the very heart of the Protestant Community.

Sure there are useful fools that will fall into line with the enemy and they will be cited as the reason that this should not be interpreted as part of a sectarian war, but these puppets merely mask and disguise the string pullers in this conflict.

Regan the Roman Catholic from England with no outstanding credentials to run Scottish football was placed in his position by manoeuvres engineered by men like Reid, Liewell and Desmond.

Other moves were then made to ensure that the puppet master Liewell would remain in arms length of Regan in order to make sure his obvious lack of nerve and intellect were not left exposed and that when leaning was required it would be at hand.

The SFA has fallen and so has the SPL.

Everything has clicked into place for our enemies and they are not going to let the chance to destroy us slip by.

Where Whyte stands in all of this I have no real idea, but I cannot believe he was just mere coincidence.

His appearance from nowhere and his subsequent elevation into the ownership of Rangers stinks.

We were told at the beginning he was a front for other people.

Now I am beginning to wonder.

However, when Rangers are gone, the last crumbling bastion of Scotland's Protestant resistance will go with them.

The rest will be a simple matter of tidying up any pockets of resistance and rounding up the odd rabble rousers.

The new legislation in law is already in place to deal with them.

Wake up ffsake before it is too late; this is a war against you and your own and it will not stop when your football club has gone.

this is genuinely scary, i bet that thousands of them hoover shit like this up, society will pay a heavy price if rangers go under.

    a war??? FFS

  7. i'd be interested to hear if Rangers fans believe that these proposals are adequate, would you support a New club straight off the bat, would you feel embarrassed that the new club bypassed all the other clubs in the 2nd,3rd and 4th tier of Scottish football for a place in the top league? or do you believe that a b*****dized Rangers in what ever form deserves and is due a place at the top?

  8. While agreeing with most of that I think you are being unfair on Celtic, Rangers are in this position, not Celtic, so that question does not arise, it may do for other SPL clubs in the future. But this is Rangers that is being discussed...lumping us both together in this instance dilutes the argument imo

yeah, sorry your right. with my point on the OF i was looking to say that i think if it were also Celtic in this position then i think the SPL would bend over backwards to accommodate them too. but your right it is unfair to lump Celtic into this argument.

  9. i haven't bothered looking through this but i presume most of us are talking about the proposals that the SPL are looking to introduce regarding clubs that go under. so here is my two bob's worth

these new proposals are designed in an attempt to be as lenient as possible on any newco rangers, if any other club outwith the OF were in this mess these new rules wouldn't even be proposed, we would simply be told " liquidation is it? don't let the door hit your arse on the way under" this league is a sham, if these proposals are voted in the league is sending a message to every other member that they can get into a tonne of debt and when they can't or won't pay, can wrap up the football club and come straight back as a newco with same squad, same stadium and same status.

we keep getting told by the weegie media that to lose rangers will destroy our game, i think a newco rangers being let straight into the top tier will signal the death of our game in a way that pumping them out could never.

and i also wonder why we would all continue to watch football in this country knowing full well that the league is there only to protect the interests of the OF

  10. not sure if it classifies as a "gig" but i'm taking the wife to Cirque du Soleil- Algeria at the SECC next Sunday. anyone been to Cirque du Soleil before, i'm told that it is amazing. it best be at £50 a ticket

  11. Do the experts not say you should put in a couple of ice cubes or a drop of water to release all the flavours and appreciate it properly?

I used to drink my malt news but one night the host kept forgetting and putting ice in mine as well as everyone else's, wound up preferring it.

i think that it is down to preference to be honest, the experts are probably right but i don't like ice or water in whisky.

  12. Me too. Malts are a different drink, it's daft to compare them. And after 3 or 4 large ones you could be drinking after shave anyway, you probably wouldn't notice the difference... blink.gif

quite right everyone will have different pallets too so that will impact on taste

someone mention Ardbeg, you can buy a 4 and a half litre of the 10 yo iv'e put a picture of this goliath here, size of it!!!!

  13. What about these weird malts that distilleries are putting out now, like the ones that use claret barrels that make the whisky go dark red. Any good or just shite for tourists?

i think alot of distilleries are going through a stage where they are trying to appeal to a broader market, i think that is alright so long as they don't tinker to much with it. i mentioned before that i tried the Dalomre Cigar malt, it was something different and i would love a bottle of it and sit there smoking a huge cigar while drinking it. i'd look the partbiggrin.gif

  14. When I first got into whisky, I absolutely hated Laphroaig and avoided it for years. I later found that this was because whenever I'd tried it in a pub, the barman had put a bit of ice in it and even if you take it out straight away, it stills has a massive influence on the taste. Having it neat however, it's one of my favourite drams.

Trying not to be too snobbish, I get the feeling that a lot of folk are just trying the heavilly marketed ones in the pub (Highland Park / Laphraoig / Lagavulin / Glenfiddich / Glenmorangie & Talisker). IMO there's a reason they have to be marketed so much and there's so many better ones to be found. One of the best whisky pubs I know of is luckilly on my doorstep in Aberdeen (The Grill) but it's nothing compared to the Grouse Inn which is a lone bar out in the Cabrach, Moray. The selection is spectacular (and they do a fine meal too :) ).

Laphroaig is alright, i never have my whisky anything other than straight, water and ice take away from the experience imo

i think that the marketed one are just the most accessible, in pubs/supermarkets etc. but your right there are some gems to be found. especially from the independent distilleries, i had a bottle of 12yo Inchmurrin from the loch lomond distillery in the house not that long ago and i would recommend that to anyone.

your lucky that you have one of the best whisky regions on your doorstep, so it would be a travesty if pubs round your way didn't take advantage of that. living in the central belt there is only a couple of pubs that i would say were decent whisky pubs and both those are in Glasgow.

  15. I'm really enjoying Highland park. my favourite shop is Robbie's Drams in Ayr. There's always a good offer or two to be had in there and it's fairly local to me.

I hope this thread keeps going as I'm always open to recommendations on new ones to try.

Robbie's dram in Ayr is a fine shop, been a while since iv'e been in though. Highland Park is a good whisky, have you seen the highland park thor, it is the first of a range of special editions dedicated to norse gods. i don't know what it will taste like, i think its a 16yo but the presentation of the case is fantastic.

    Helloooooo whisky thread!

Living near a handful of distilleries, I like the idea of this thread. I live just over a mile from Dalmore, and I don't know whether is bias or not, but I'm quite fond of a few of theirs.

Most of the regular Dalmore's (8 & 12 etc) are all a good dram, as is "The Black Pearl" (although this is an airport exclusive one) and the Black Isle.

I also like a Jura, or a Highland Park.

But top of the pile at the moment is The Old Pulteney from Wick. Their singles are pretty decent and right now I've just cracked into a birthday present of an Old Pulteney WK499: Isabella Fortuna. Strangely there's no age statement on it, so I've no idea how old it is, but I likes it!

I'm not a big fan of anything too smoky or peaty though.

have you tried the Dalmore Cigar malt, iv'e never tasted a malt quite like it, very different to anything iv'e ever tried. and they do the rivers collection now too, they are meant to be good.

  16. The Glenrothes is a cracking whiskey. My old man got a special bottle of it a few years ago for his fifieth.

My favourite is the 12 year old Glendronach, although I'm slightly biased as my granddad worked there. Balvenie would probably be my other day-to-day first choice. Found 2/3rds full 70cl of Aberlour unexpectely in the cupboard over the weekend too :D

working in a distillery would be a great job, iv'e only tried the 12 year old Glendronach once and it was a couple of years ago so don't remember to much about it TBH

finding unexpected bottles in a cupboard would be nice, nothing like that ever happens to me,

as a day to day, the balvenie is a good choice, it is always quite easy to come across, i think most supermarkets sell it which is handy, nothing worse if your regular bottle is only available through a specialist or online
