  1. 1. Yes it can

    2. Yes they can

    3. Mute point. The fans will insist it does. As far as everyone else is concerned, its irrelevant

    4. Correct. The newco wont be eligible for Europe for 3 years

Point 1, can you elaborate? As far as I understand it, the Newco is a company, not a football club who cannot acquire the share. The share can only go to an existing club. The same person cannot own two qualifying clubs ala Old and Newco even so.

On point 2, the SPFA have confirmed the contracts cannot be transfered, they are up for grabs to any other club. They can sign for who they like but might be thinking twice about signing for Govan FC.

    ...and on point 3: it's moot icon_rolleyes.gif

  2. Paul Clark, of Duff and Phelps[/b] addressing staff at a meeting at Ibrox: ']

"We would like to thank all parties for their efforts in seeking to submit bids which preserve the long history and success of the Club.

"We are delighted to announce that today we have received an unconditional bid for the business and assets of Rangers Football Club plc from Mr Bill Miller which has been accepted in principle and he is now the preferred bidder.

presumably with all the existing - and any future - sanctions to still be applied, if that's the case ???

  3. Notice this on facebook........Who's paying for this full stadium card display then?

Might have paid the wee newsagents they owe or the Ambulance Service but no lets have a massive card display instead ....nice

    Volunteers Needed

Manager Alistair McCoist has asked us to help set out a full stadium card display on Saturday and I will be looking for volunteers on Thursday morning and night and again on Friday and Friday night if required.

  4. Do you think Rangers fans would actually get behind an idea like that though? Would that not then be the team destroyed? (should a new team be created in England and playing in England).

the logistics would render it unsustainable; bear in mind they'd have four or five seasons in regional leagues to begin with and that north of the M62 corridor senior non league teams are pretty few and far between other than a few in the north east., most of whom draw particularly crap crowds and are notoriously parochial and unambitious

the vast majority of their trips would be 200 miles or so to slog about on a muddy field in a shit ground against teams that no more than 200 people give a shiny shit about; there would be no magnificient procession of unremitting glory against plucky non-leaguers all desparate to welcome the mighty rangers to their humble abodes that'd be stuffed to the gunnels with ruddy-faced children all gawping in wonder at the marvellous circus that'd hit town and the local womenfolk done up to the nines and flashing the glad eye at the heroic travelling hordes; it'd be a dour, shitty, tedious slog massively far removed from anything they've experienced before

that and the fact that we don't want the b*****ds down here, anyway....

  5. They also seem to be missing the fact that to get into the conference they would need to spend 3 or 4 seasons(At least, I don't know the full structure) winning various regional leagues before even getting to that step of the FA ladder. The bright lights of the Blue Square premier are a long long way off, never mind playing in the English Premier League.

Up to a decade before they even make the football league. I wonder how many of them would still be follow following after that.

yup - recent examples of new clubs forced to start again at the bottom of the evolutionary scale (Aldershot and Wimbledon) have seen them both resurface five or six steps below the football league - as you say, patience may be wearing a bit thin long before they're looking at even taking part in a nationwide league again

    shame....
