  1. It's clear that unless something spectacular happens we will be nowhere near getting promotion this season. The whole club is in denial right now and objectives need to be realistic. We're a mid level championship club. We don't have the resources, facilities, fanbase to challenge at the top of this league at this moment in time. Lets just enjoy getting the occasional win over Morton at home and our wee away days at Palmerston and not fret about being successful. We're Partick Thistle we score w..he.....n .....w..e
  2. Doolan is easily the most important player of the last 10 years for this club. Last year he and Erskine both took a substantial pay decrease to continue to play for Thistle. They could have jumped ship and signed for premiership club wages elsewhere but they didn't. Doolan has also had clubs come in for him in previous seasons as well. I believe Hearts made him an offer around the time of our promotion season but he turned it down to continue to play for thistle. You just don't see that kind of loyalty in football these days... For what it's worth, I don't think Doolan played that badly this season. Ok, his goal tally wasn't as much as we'd expect from a striker of his calibre but i still think there's a lot left in the tank. He's certainly not done at this level by any means... I find it extremely sad that the Thistle board and management think this is an acceptable way to to treat club legends... Pretty shocking actually.
  3. So how do we know Ally Roy was the leak? Don't actually see why the message is such a big deal tbh, it's the leak that's mire of an issue for me...
  4. Am I the only person that thinks this is a joke of a signing? Has there ever been a scenario where a veteran striker has come out of retirement after the best part of a year (to play at a decent level*) and actually done well? This is a worrying signing for me...
  5. Embdy else hate the Smuggo McSmuggersons that seem to revel in the fact that they know suhin you don’t! Dont care anyway. Just guanae eat biscuits til whatever the f**k Quitongo has done becomes public... Custard Creams!
  6. That’s us signed yer Andréa Mbuyi-Mutombo. I think I might know the answer to this but... Is he any use?
  7. Well I for one am looking forward to the playoff against Morton. I feel this is Archie’s masterplan. Let’s fill Firhill and party like it’s 2013! edited to add: #wegotthis
  8. Difficult debut for Sammon and Storey but did well. Using The Sellick as some kind of yardstick for the season ahead I think we've a lot to be positive about. They will be taking 3 or 4 goals off of bottom 6 teams every league match no doubt. 0-1 is a decent result against what is probably the strongest bunch of **** we've ever seen! That said, there's a lot we need to work on offensively... Apart frae Elliot! MOM. Christie Elliot. *edited to say t i m s
  9. I can't see how anyone can find this strip anything other than pure fucking BOWFIN! It's our worst since that mingin jester effort about 12 years ago. For what it's worth, I think the black away strip is shite an aw... The best strips are alway the simple ones... This gradient/blurry stripes thing on the home and the graphicy paint stripes on the away top just look cheap and tacky. I actually quite liked last seasons rednyella Ajax strip. Simple lines and had a kind of classic look to it. This however is just a complete fucking mess of a strip and I for one will not be purchasing it.
  10. This thread cracks me up. We have no idea what the final price was for Lyndsay was and we have even less of an idea of what we paid for Keown. When does the fitba start!?
  11. I know but f**k it, we could have bought Christian Benteke or somethin with that money...!
  12. Surely even Thistle cannot f**k this up now!? Surely not!?!!!!
  13. That assist for Doolans equaliser in the Challenge Cup final though. Class!
  14. If Ross Forbes could run, he'd be playing for Chelsea. Amazing ability but possibly the slowest, laziest footballer I've seen at Firhill in a while.
  15. I think it worked out fine. He was never going to be here long term and was always just an expensive cover until Muzzy and Elliot were fit again... I don't get some of the negativity towards Ziggy. I thought he was pretty good for us, he's got a great attitude and decent ability. Good luck to him...
  16. He was my player of the year until he fell over and accidentally sooked up all that ching!
  17. Scully Ziggy Barton Lyndsey Booth Osman Welsh Amoo Edwards Erskine Doolan Devine really hasn't been up to it so far this season so I'd drop him and give Barton a go at CB. For what it's worth this will probably not going to happen and Devine will probably start. Dropping him would be a huge statement however. With Lawless probably out, I'd like to see Welsh start with Osman breaking up the play and using Welsh to feed the ball to the attacking players. Elliot is always there as a plan B. Doolan is due a goal! I hate Ross County.
  18. I was brought up in the sticks in 80's Ayrshire where everyone in my primary school was a Rangers fan. My cousin would take me to Ibrox when I was 7-8 and buy me all the gear. Bed spread, shirts posters etc. I had a bigot of an uncle who used to teach me all the 'party songs' that I used to sing because I had no understanding of what it was I was singing about. This got me in trouble a couple of times and I feel utterly ashamed and embarrassed for this now even though I had no idea what I was doing at the time. By the time I went to the 'big school' my cousin had left the country and I kind of lost interest in club football for a while until I moved to Glasgow. Thats really when it hit home what the f**k was going on with the Old Firm and what those songs meant and everything that went with it. I'd seen and heard these things before but living amongst it and understanding was an eye opener. I moved to near Great Western Rd just a few minutes walk from Firhill and one match day I saw a bunch of Jags fans walk by my window going to the game. I went along on a whim and really enjoyed the experience of being in that crowd that day. It was completely different to the bile and hatred I'd witnessed at ibrox years before That was about 20years ago and I've been proud supporter of Thistle ever since.
