  1. Surely Craig Burley should know that a knuckle dragger and homo neanderthalensis are one and the same. In fact, makes you wonder if he isn't a bit of a homo (neanderthalensis) himself! Homo neanderthalensis Craig Burley
  2. The audio sounded as though it was recorded indoors although they're standing outdoors? Just wondering. But, to be honest, this is pretty tame. I've seen and heard a lot worse when I was a youth at Ibrox. Turned me right off Glasgow football altogether. The obsession with religion and ancient Irish history has no place in Scotland. If any re-formed Rangers turns out to be a new gathering point for sectarian bigots and uber-British BNP types, it's doomed. It'll never have my support, and I'm guessing many others who traditionally followed the Gers will switch off too. There are plenty of proper Scottish teams outside Glasgow - who are pround of the Saltire and who don't get hung up on colour, religion or race.
  3. No orginal source is usually a giveaway. Although it seems plausible enough (apart from the advanced agenda-driven English) it reflects poorly on anyone spouting off about integrity to post disinformation. Does nothing but muddy the waters and quite probably benefits real bigots by allowing them to point out that people are 'spreading lies about us'.
  4. Good post Roker Rover, very relevant too. I agree with you that the worship of the sacred TV cash cow could backfire anytime. The wage structure is crippling clubs as you say. All the worse when you see the type of badge-kissing mercenary they splash the cash on. It's actually becoming an issue, though to a lesser extent, over here in Scandinavia too. Until now, they've achieved domestic and some Euro success with many home-grown players - who were often sold on to big teams later. The same blueprint Scotland used to work too. But the mass import of mediocre foreign lads into Scotland has been a mistake. In Scotland, the big two did it, and the other teams followed as best they could. Turns out Rangers couldn't even afford the players they bought and Celtic are lumbered with some expensive duffers. And yet managers always say they're short of two or three players. Makes you laugh. Scotland is potentially a huge talent pool. It's either laziness or poor management that sees a solution in expensive imports of dubious quality. Don't bother about the inane comments, some people are never happy unless they are spiting bile. It seems to enrich their lives in some, as yet, unknown way. I blame the parents
  5. Auld Heid, I'm not sure it's so much about the demise, more about the sense that a bit of justice has been done. Other teams have been punished quite harshly in the past for tiny administrative mistakes, and yet, in spite of a catalogue of pretty serious offences, the authorties seemed unwilling to discipline their cash cow. Doncaster seems to have no idea what sport is really about. He only understands figures and some of those seem to have been made up on the hoof. It's also the end of the stranglehold on decision-making that the big two have had. Surely this means we'll see some change to league structure, a fairer distribution of cash, and an end to the tedious 4xtimes-a-year fixtures? It's a sad day for real Rangers' fans, but a chance for reform, and who knows, maybe a chance for a new club to emerge - without the ugly non-football bagage of the past.
  6. Not sure the clubs who are already seeking admission to Div. 3 will be too happy if Green's XI (has he 11 players?) are given preferencial treatment. I've heard say that any new club seeking admission needs three years of audited accounts.
  7. At least Green admits he's only in it to make money. He's been upfront about that. Not sure he knows what he's actually bought though. Maybe the liquidators can still sell off the buildings from under his nose? After all, there’s a lot of very unhappy people who are owed a lot of dosh. And does he have a team or even an SFL licence? And are FIFA still miffed about the court case? A mess. Whatever, I'd be much happier to hear 'Ilkley Moor' (and see a bit of Morris dancing) at Ibrox than to hear some inane chanting aboot a sash
  8. Good post. Too many threats from fans and club spokesmen and too little facing up to the reality of the situation. Perhaps a new start will also help the club distance itself from the sectarian element that seems to just use Rangers as a vehicle for carrying on some ancient Irish feud. Gie us a break. Get the Saltire flying at Ibrox again and let’s just concentrate on football from now on, preferably in a lower division. If the club just re-emerges as a mirror image of the old I expect a part of the silent majority, who are tired of the club being associated with non-football stuff, will just drift away.
  9. Great thread. Bit off topic, but I'm considering a few days in Paris to catch the start of the French Open, and hopefully Andy's matches. Anyone know of a decent hotel, motel, or the like, near Roland Garros? A recommendation? Cheers
