  1. Don't want to get in the way of the Falkirk v Dunfermline stuff that seems to dominate this thread but that's Michael Paton confirmed with ourselves. Reports from Pars fans seem positive a few pages back. If you have anything bad to say about him say it now or forever hold your peace.

Got a lot of time for Paton. 3 goals and 13 assists in our league 1 winning season. Great player, with great distribution. Of course, he seemed to have a telepathic relationship with the Moroccan Prince at times, which helped. He was able to deliver pinpoint crosses onto El Bakhtaoui’s head or foot.

I genuinely hope he does well for you. Seems like a really decent guy and was unfortunate with injuries, in his time in the championship. Maybe the move to part-time is what he needs just now. As has been mentioned above, he’s not going to race past defenders, or go on many runs, but he’ll have the best distribution in that league.

Perhaps a very similar player to Ross Forbes, who I also think is a brilliant player for that level, which could leave you with a very immobile midfield. We know all about that having played Wedderburn and Paton together at times last season, and been completely overrun by everyone.
  2. There's definitely a player in there if you get him to click. Highly questionable attitude though.
Houston actually paid money for him.

This is more positive than Falkirk fans’ assessment of Aird, who did very well for us. Think this means he’ll fire us to the title...

In all seriousness though, pleased with this bit of business. Fans don’t tend to dislike opposition players, unless they’ve played well against them. Ok, he dived and won a penalty. Cardle, McMullan and Falkingham have been terrible for doing that for us, in the last few years. Unfortunately, it’s part of the game these days.

After the way our club ‘grassed him up’, it’s maybe a surprise he was happy to sign for us. If he can put that behind him, there’s absolutely no reason our fans shouldn’t.
  3. What's your likely line-up?
    -----Beadling--Thomson
    Connolly--Higgy--Longridge
    -------------FEB
That's v decent with plenty on the bench when others are off the boil.

Been playing more of a 3-4-1-2 or 3-4-3 lately, with J Longridge and Williamson as wing backs.

Hippolyte signing is in line with our signings so far. It seems clear that the biggest problem we had last year, was an inability to hangs things. He’s made sure that our different options in each position aren’t like-for-like replacements and actually offer something different.

For example if Beadling and Thomson aren’t working in a particular game, Craigen can offer a more attacking threat. If El Bak and Longridge aren’t able to break a team down, Hippolyte might make a difference. We’re a lot more flexible than we were last season. I think that makes us a better team overall.
  4. In reality who knows. It was what was rumoured.
Bottom line is if it were ever true it's evidently nonsense now given Vincent signing.
Would like to see FEB sign for us. Still short up front.

Evidently, it was nonsense all along. We got Vincent in January. It’s more likely that McCann is a bit wary of letting FEB go, as he invested a lot of time into his development and is disappointed that the club are likely to be making no money from the sale (even a loan would see him out of contract and leave for nothing next summer).

It also wouldn’t surprise me, if they were holding onto him until they got another striker, or to see if anyone can offer them a better deal than us. That’s fairly standard procedure. They won’t be in any hurry to offload him, particularly given we’re very unlikely to offer any sort of substantial fee or, in the case of a loan deal, cover his full wages.
  5. Injuries. They do tend to happen to professional sportsmen now and again

Yes, but having 6 players out before you’ve even played a game is a lot. Murdoch, Robinson, Smith, Beadling, Thomson and Ashcroft all missing, for the second game in a row. Assume Vincent will be available from Saturday.

Good to see McCann get another goal. Could be a real asset in the future.
  6. If the interest is genuine and Dundee are interested in a deal, I would have thought a deal would be done by now - Dundee go on a training camp tomorrow. If there’s no news today/tomorrow, the deal’s dead. Dundee have signed a new striker already and haven’t included Faissal in either of their squads for friendlies, so there’s no concern of them needing to keep him, until they sign someone else.

If Faissal’s on the flight tomorrow, he’s not coming here. We need strikers in ASAP and can’t afford to put all our eggs in one basket again, for El Bakhtaoui.

  7. Has he not been at pre-season?

Transfer window doesn't open until tomorrow so he wouldn't be registered as a pars player but that's the same with all the new signings.

It's possible his Sunderland contract was until end of June instead of end of May that's the norm in Scotland but I don't see them having much issue with him arriving early.

Transfer window opened on June 9th. Otherwise Durnan, both Longridges & Devine would have been listed as trialists.
  8. So do you think he has dropped his wages to sit on the bench at dunfermline?

Yes. That’s exactly what’s happened. He’s accepted a deal, on less money than he was on at United, and will provide cover for our midfield.

Willo said in his interview, he was only offered a coaching role at United, but he wanted to keep playing. That doesn’t mean he expects to start every week.
  9. Why on earth would you "fade" the badge on the away one? That's what really just makes the whole kit look like it's faded rather than deliberately that colour.

Agree with this. The badge being greyed out makes it look tacky. Full colour badge, would make the badge stand out - making it a decent Pars kit. It’s the badge I’m struggling to accept with that kit.
  10. One of the Shift Engineers that works with us. Was in getting him and his laddies Season Tickets.
Obviously he'll be getting punted round the place given he's not cut the old proverbial mustard at Dens. Think Hearts had shown some level in him before.
I'd take him back but given the financial prudency currently in place at EEP then I can't see us paying him what he'd want.
He was supposed to have been offered round £1,500 a week with us before he left.

Either you’re making this up, or your mate is. He’s been in France for the last couple of weeks - he’s been uploading Instagram stories every single day.
  11. Last year, we signed McManus and M’Voto from Raith. These guys had recently been relegated from the championship, having been unable to see off Brechin City, over 2 legs. M’Voto in particular was shocking in those playoff games. Now, people are disappointed those players are leaving.

With that in mind, I think we have to give the new boys a chance. On paper, these are much better signings, having played at a higher level.

The signings of McManus, M’Voto, Aird, Robinson & Craigen (probably more as well), were mocked by fans of other clubs. AJ made them work. Wait and see what the new guys do.

  12. We need to finish above at least one of of County, Thistle, Utd, Caley and Falkirk to reach the play offs, the rest of the teams are dross. Games against these teams will be hugely important and I hope AJ has learned how to change it in our favour when the shit hits.

Surely we need to finish above at least 2 of them? If 4 of those 5 teams finish above us, the highest we can be is 5th...
  13. Pretty standard for players wages to drop when they go down a division tbh. There's no chance he'll have managed to command the same wage that he would've been getting at a premier league side, the differences in budget are fairly well documented. I'll be shocked if we've been in competition with any Premier league, or championship clubs for his services.

Given we wouldn’t match County’s offer to McManus or Clark/Aird’s offers from United, it’s highly unlikely we’re breaking the bank for Devine. It’s much more likely that, having suffered a rough patch, and playing in front of fans that were picking on every mistake he made, he just wants to get his career back on track. It’s very common for players to take a pay cut, in an attempt to do so.

Unfortunately, he obviously hasn’t spoken to Nicky Clark or a few of our other players from last season, to find out that even scoring 21 goals in one season isn’t enough for some of our fans.
  14. Yeah, but consistently good or bad, that's the question?

Consistently average, would be my honest opinion. Fairly competent defender, but lacks pace and gives away needless fouls/picks up stupid cards. Talbot will always give 100%, which is why he was a favourite with our fans, but is a mid-table/bottom half championship quality player.
