Just a quick thought I had last night and I don’t know if anyone can be arsed to do the stats or anything.

Are we better off playing a CB at LB over an attacking full back.
When Harry Milne got injured at the tail end of last season shifting Holt out to left back seemed to give us a bit more security and we went on a bit of a run.

I do love an attacking in form Harry Milne and if him and Fitz could form the same partnership as Lawless/McMillan it could be deadly. However, I felt like having Wasiri cover that position the last few games we weren’t shipping as many goals. Maybe our formation and the way Doolan wants to play doesn’t suit two forward thinking full backs.

On his current rate of improvement, Wasiri is just about ready to be cutting inside and fucking goals in from 30 yards, a la Phillip Lahm at the 2006 WC.

With a near fully fit squad, we could also have the option of playing a back 5. It might not suit Lawless and Fitzpatrick starting in the same team, but could allow us to cover more areas of the pitch and I could see Williams being capable of stepping into DM to allow us to rotate between formations when needed.

  2. Man United's performace was like a confused hybrid of Walter Smith's Scotland hanging on for dear life against France and some sort of shite John Hughes attempt at Total Football.

You could make an argument for Ten Hag if they looked like beating last season's 75 points total by even a point or two, but it's patently obvious they're getting nowhere near that or the top 4.

Liverpool away on the 17th looks like the shame game that will do it for him, especially if it follows Bayern pumping them out of Europe.

  3. We seemed to get progressively poorer as the game wore on, at least in terms of keeping some kind of pressure on the Airdrie half.

That's understandable due to having to end the match without a striker and a knackered Fitzpatrick up front instead, but I felt McInroy showed poor retention of the ball when he came on and the ball kept coming back to the (largely impressive) back 4 due to the lack of quality shown in midfield.

In the first half we saw some excellent combinations between McMillan and Lawless, but I though the Airdrie left back did well in limiting any end product from that side. Fitzpatrick was explosive at times in the first half and Diack, at the very least, matched the kind of presence we're used to from Brian Graham which is some turn for a boy making (I think) his first professional start.

I'm enjoying Williams more every week at left back. Granted we've had a favourable run of home games against the dregs of the division, but we've looked a good bit less vulnerable down that side since he came in and the way he rolled off challenges today was beautiful to watch. From Piccolo to Pirlo.

  4. We had more round pegs in round holes than the game at Hampden and Fitzpatrick in current form takes us to a different level. Williams and Alston look to be finding some form now and it makes our squad feel a bit stronger than it did a few weeks ago.

Queens Park look like some crap tribute of Steven Pressley's Falkirk. They might as well go all out and appoint the gobshite himself.

  5. For the last 6 months I've been doing one set per exercise, picking a weight where I'll fail anywhere between 6-12 reps. Once you can do 12 reps really slow and controlled, you can move up a weight.

I've found this has increased my strength like nothing else has and I'm able to lift weights I could barely look at about a year ago. Each session you'll usually go up in either weight or reps and I'm usually in and out of the gym in about 30-45 minutes.

E.g. for chest, I would do nothing more than a set of incline bench press with dumbbells, followed with one set each of flyes and dips. Now and again I like to throw in a drop set.

Mind you, I've practically eliminated cardio and calorie control in that time and have lost whatever definition I had image.png.85b5d0968486be77a43bc64c6427eb7c.png

The St Mirren Twitter admin would have a busy summer with the amount of ex-buddy John Mcginn posts.

My mate reminded me at the pub the other night that I'd played a few games for Scotstoun Boys Club when I was at school.

"Oh aye, I completely forgot about that."

I imagine that's how John McGinn feels about St Mirren.
