Of the two, Airdrie’s pitch looks much better on the telly. Has anyone on here experience of playing on both and can let us know which, if either, is a more suitable surface for a decent game of football

Having walked over both for club media the pitch at Airdrie felt far superior, how it plays i cannot comment.

As both teams have zero UEFA club coefficient would that mean we'd be more likely to draw a tougher team in that first round, or does Scotland's collective coefficient's high standing currently lift us above those teams in seedings?

You take the Scottish collective coefficient so who ever becomes N4 will as it stands be a seed in R2, it all depends who qualifies in the next month

This site gives you weekly updates as it all pans out https://kassiesa.net/uefa/seedco2024.html

Out of curiosity, what would happen next season if Buckie win the league again? Will something be in place to allow the runners up to take their place or leave it as Team 42 v LL? Will Buckie be penalised for not participating in the play offs or a ban from the Scottish Cup?

I would imagine they will take the steps to make sure this does not happen again, but if both clubs do not have the licence nor follow the rules the play off which will most probably be against Edinburgh City wont happen.

  4. The Brechin statement is wild and is being widely slated by their own support.

it will be interesting to see what the SPFL does now with those in its membership who have failed to move on from entry level.

Nothing would surprise me more than some of the teams being removed from the league and replaced by B teams as there were no licenced teams to take their place..

  5. This point last year i was very enthusiastic about the whole thing  but that's gone down to zero just now. The reality of past finals, the NI game and Saints making football shit to watch has me thinking we will be home finishing bottom of the group.

  6. Kinnoull survive for another game after a 3-2 win over Luncarty last night.

Getting the first goal put Luncarty on the back foot, before they equalized just before half time. With Luncarty then starting the second half stronger Kinnoull hit twice and despite another headed goal the hosts claimed all 3 points.

These mid week Perthshire clashes have not always gone to form this year, Luncarty won at Jeanfield, Kinnoull also came close at jeanfield and now Luncarty drop 3 points at Kinnoull.

  7. TBF Kinnoull had a great run to the end of last season and were minutes away from winning the EOS first division title before Dunbar got a late winner. The subsequent change of manager at Jeanfield which resulted in the Luncarty manager going to Jeanfield and then the Kinnoull manager going to Luncarty made the start of the season hard and was far from ideal.

Short term the EOS First division is the right place for Kinnoull, with a great season they could repeat 22/23 but most seasons they should win more than they lose at that level, even with more of the late entrant West Lothian clubs progress up the EOS.

  8. The above will never happen

Firstly you are relegating 12 teams out of the SPFL , the clubs will never go for that

Then there is is the issue at tier 6 - Why are the Midland league teams and South of Scotland teams relegated from tier 6 to 8 in one go ?

Also the issue of the Highland league being shunted into a play off yet the lowland league getting direct entry as pointed out above.

Just seen this re: positioning of crowds.

Noticed on Saturday - Did St Johnstone spread the Killie support across the Main Stand and 2 sections of the North Stand on Saturday rather than just house the whole support behind the goal? Bizarre if so.

Kilmarnock sold out the main stand and then were given more blocks in the North stand

The away disabled platform is in the main stand and the disabled supporters wish to be with the rest of their support so that section is always sold first. if we did it the way you have suggested the experience for these fans would be significantly reduced.

  10. Tranent 1-1 Albion Rovers

What an excellent advert for the Lowland league, an end to end game on a good surface for this time of year with two sets of passionate fans who were able to stand next to each other under the cover last night.

The game was in the balance right until the last kick of the ball.

Tonights Tranent v Rovers game is on after a pitch inspection. Elsewhere in the capital Civil Service Strollers v EK is off.

Excellent , still need Tranent and EK to complete the Lowland league for now. That decides the choice of game tonight.

Makes sense considering we were relegated and had McPake's full squad of duds all still tied up for another year. Bowyer really was given a dud hand.

    This was all expected tbh.

The gamble paid off in that Bowyer got the team up, funded by a loan of 2 million at 1% per year from Dark Blue holdings. This makes sense as Keys needs the team to build a stadium for as part of the wider development and its the only way they can realistically ever make a profit on this.

Some interesting notes in the details as posted on the club website

In the going concern section there is mention of the losses for this season being similar but then an improving from 24/25

A supplier Mr G Strachan settled a £192,000 invoice by way of a share issue in February of this year . What has he been doing thats worth 192K?

Thanks, wasn’t aware of the depth chart, that’s a lot of keepers. 😀

Its one more than it should be just now as we started the season with Ross Sinclair who then was injured just after Dimitar Mitov was signed to be competition for him. Hes superb and without him we would be in the relegation play off spot for sure. With Ross out Dave Richards was signed as an experienced back up but has yet to play. Mitov is now the Bulgarian number 1 and i doubt we will be able to hold onto him for long.

Jack Wills is 21 and out on loan at Queens Park and then Craig is on loan with Cowdenbeath, the Under 18s keeper could be who you get next but if he follows the path Craig did they will put him out to a local East of Scotland team first then lowland league.

Saw on Twitter this morning that Craig Hepburn has signed a 3 year extension with St Johnstone.

Great news for Craig that he has this sorted out, I fully expect he will continue progressing up the leagues, unless St Johnstone will want him in the first team squad, perhaps as back up.

I think as it stands Craig is the number 5 keeper so i doubt he will be in our squad next season. One for the future.

A polis car then turned up... probably half an hour after the event!

The odd thing was the staff were defending the lads not having seen the amount of waste and mess they were making and 3 times called the man away from the kids.

i felt sorry for the 2 lads who looked about 18 who were sent out to clean up the mess of condiments and food they had smeared over the surfaces that the staff cannot see from the desk.

St Johnstone at home in the Scottish Cup as well, when they scored with the last kick of extra time after Clarke had gone up and got his head to it. They went on to win on penalties.

Probably my all time favorite Saints game. Went to the game expecting nothing but we put in such a good effort.

The DJ has the music at full volume from about 45 minutes before kick off and off all the lockdown games i was lucky enough to "work" at this felt the most normal.

Gerrard went mental when Ranger scored and we had the media posts typed up with all the cup stats from that season when Clark headed the ball onto Chris Kane's foot and we equalized.

  17. I went along to this to see the new Meadowbank

its not as bad as some have made out, we were in the back row and able to stand up so the whole thing did not seem miles away.

The crowd was a lot bigger than i has expected, i also think that was the case with the catering as by half time they had ran out of everything bar tea and coffee (with complimentary biscuit) but we could hear them then say they could only offer black tea or coffee not long after that.

The game only really came to life near the end

The Edinburgh ultras were in the McDonald's opposite the stadium after the game just making as much mess as they possibly could until a local challenged them. They were all mouthy in the restaurant but legged it along the road as he chased them as they all left at once. Probably the highlight of a wet night.

  18. We have been doing the end of season announcement at half time at St Johnstone for the last 10 years plus.

The club asks for a list of names of those supporters who have died in the last year and they along with former players and club staff are included in the a list in the middle of the match day programme, with the request being made around 2 weeks before the last game.

When my mum died in 2015 we put her name down for that but i would not have asked for a minutes applause etc

  19. There was a lot of mud in the spectator areas on Wednesday night and a few did slip or fall on it, Its the first time I have realised how much work would need to be done there if they did get a licence and move up a level.

He could literally have turned around and looked at the big screen which would have said.

TBF if he was in the press box you cannot see that at all.

Advantages its nice and warm but you don't hear any of the atmosphere and feel a bit detached from the game.
