Although i can not normally see them the Friday night games seem popular and its a great way to showcase the Championship. Work wise it would be a pain for some to get to but its just the same for many as a Tuesday or Wednesday game. Definitely keep. The one thing however I would change is the quota of games, every team having to have 2 home games selected means that this weekends big game is not being shown. There however should be a maximum number of times an away team can be on.
The same argument can be made with regards to the Premiership games. Remove the home maximum but limit the number of away games that a team can be shown. This would result in better games being selected but we all know 2 clubs would veto this.
Radio wise it needs a total reset.

After about 36 hours of constant rain in Perthshire it seems to have stopped in the last hour
The grass at work is under water so i wonder what chance if any the 3 Perthshire games have of being played tomorrow.

My apologies for the tangent – but in the absence of a game last weekend to look back on I’d like to climb on my soapbox.
“THERE WILL BE GOALS, THERE WILL BE DRAMA, THERE WILL BE... VAR!”
Those were the literal words that introduced BBC Scotland’s flagship Scottish football radio show a couple of Saturdays ago.
That’s right, top billing given to a roundly hated piece of technology, despised by people in the stands but loved by pundits for whom it provides endless hours of controversy and tedious talking points without any requirement for research, insight or even really paying attention to the games they are covering.
Sportsound was the soundtrack to Saturday afternoon for me in previous years. The build up to every game, the team news, the anticipation building as you drove to the game or got on the supporters’ bus. Open All Mics was a great innovation – allowing up to the minute updates from every game as an alternative to a live commentary game.
Now it is a rabble. A complete shadow of what it once was.
The format barely changes week on week. An introduction touching on any of the week’s controversies – often topics that have been done to death online, in the news and on podcasts and other radio shows throughout the past seven days.
Then an extended interview with either the Rangers or Celtic manager, depending on which one is playing that afternoon.
Then a brief tour round the rest of the Scottish Premiership grounds and maybe one or two in the lower leagues collecting the team news, by which time 3pm is upon us and the frequencies split to a live commentary of whichever Old Firm side is playing, or Open All Mics.
Inevitably, you mostly choose Open All Mics, and very quickly wish you hadn’t.
Genuinely – a few weeks ago a large period of time was taken up with those appearing on the show talking about their Gladiator names. The nadir was when one said another would be called “The Tadger”. The kind of banter you’d get from an old boy in the pub that you try your best to keep away from. Shortly after one contributor at a Championship game was slapped down by Willie Miller for trying to give an actual update on their allotted match.
You’ll then be treated to Pat Bonner failing to identify any of the players on the park that don’t have a connection to Celtic, while you try in vain to get any real sense of what is happening at your team’s game, or indeed any other.
The issue, for me, is that there is a core of contributors who are wannabe controversialists, and others who are essentially having their season tickets to their team paid for by the BBC. There is a complete lack of insight, and if you’re not interested in VAR decisions being given top billing every week it is a tough listen.
It is understandable that the Old Firm are given prominence – at least to some degree – but I also feel its an insult to the intelligence of Rangers and Celtic fans that the producers seem to think they’re incapable of listening to a show with a broader remit than those two clubs.
There is a format there that works. Find the formula that fits it and they’ll be on to a winner.

I would think due to the now operating pyramid system, we would be starting from West Of Scotland league 3.
A new team would need to apply along with everyone else, if the replacement team in the lowland came from the East of South there would be no space in the West and the new team would be locked out.
Now if only that system was in place just over a decade ago.

A Clyde drop would spread terror through a whole host of clubs.
That terror probably already exists for all of the part time teams in Scotland , as you are showing even in league 1 you are only 2 seasons away from the trap door.
Perhaps its time that those in the league made it easier to come back with a 2 up 2 down or 1 up one down and a play off arrangement for the second promotion/relegation spot.

Quite the haul.
All of which was as Kenny MacIntyre would say "a long long long time ago" and is of little relevance now to fans of other clubs, while obviously being very important to the history of each of the clubs concerned, the number of people who go to games now and actually witnessed these events in all 3 clubs must be very small.

Kelty have thrown money at the team, the backers left this season to go to Raith.
There biggest differnece between us and Kelty is they had an established following, social club etc....we are no where near the size of Kelty as a club so a money man was the only way we would progress.
Kelty now have superb facilities for spectators and a sustainable club
Darvel have some changing rooms and grass banking, where is the stand as promised ?

No, there was talk of Gartcairn proposing it, going by a former player of ours. I personally don't see an issue with them proposing it and making it voluntary, it is my least favourite cup. I know from talking to other clubs fans they feel the same way.
The south challenge cup should be the best cup competition outwith the Scottish cup.
The turn out of for the games involving Perthshire teams in the first rounds was well up on league gates
It just needs some proper funding.

Kelty have lost their backer, so interesting to see how long they maintain their level for.
Clydebank have a belief they are a superior club to what they are, bear in mind they have won nothing.
The restructuring has been a failure this far. That may change in years to come however to date it has been a mess,
utter bollocks
The failure has been in teams from the west to get licences or win play off games . Add to that egomaniacs such as that clown from Darvel throwing money about to achieve the a cup win over Aberdeen and get him and the chicken man time on TV.
The clubs in the east have progressed without the need to throw stupid money at it, crowds are up, interest is up.
Maybe once some on the west lose their Junior mentality and west cost superiority complex they will see the benefit of the whole pyramid.

Dens should be like Highbury, just leave the stands up and build houses on the pitch.
its the other way around, however the two end stands were demolished

No, and unlikely to get it any time soon.
What are the issues preventing them from applying (Apart from the SFA themselves)
its one of the better facilities in the league. good area of cover and has floodlights.
From my days of running youth teams in Perth and at one point having to play in a Dundee league the changing rooms were adequate.

It was just one of those nights for Jeanfield.
One of the biggest attendances ive seen at the Riverside under the lights, like most i expected a home win but Luncarty rode their luck a bit in the first half but were much more in it in the second.
The game became more end to end and you could see a goal coming.
Jeanfield had the ball in the net deep into injury time but the ref did blow for a free kick just before the ball ended up in the net
Big celebrations in the away dressing room as the fans queued to get out.

Just heard that our esteemed ex-CEO is going to be on Off the Ball today...
Did they ask her any questions about the mess of the rebuild at Lessor and the Royal Box?

Did the topic of the total mess that Leeann Dempster oversaw in the building of lessor Hampden get brought up last week or was she just given an easy time.
That will cost Queens Park millions to sort out.

I have a DH Gate special as well as the real one. When you compare them side by side, it's obvious which one is the fake, as the material and stitching are poorer quality, but the fake one looks absolutely fine when worn out and about.
Fake shirts are rife within the crowd at Hampden. 99.9% of those Italia 90 Umbro green and purple training shirts you see will be fake. The only 'official' ones are the Score Draw ones without the Umbro logo you can buy at JD.
Or the originals from the 90's

Cant believe this tbh, certainly not from a Dundee United fan.
Struggle to see how theyd possibly benefit from expanding the top tier.
Both them and the Yo-yo club from the same street would benefit greatly from an enlarged top league as they seem to have a habit of dropping out of a league of 10 or 12 but would probably not do so in an expanded league of 16, 18 or 20.
There are other reasons why they would never vote for it but i can see why some of their fans etc might like the idea.

Huge shock the new system is a shambles…
I think I’m going to patch the NI game at those prices, and just attend the rest.
Id not say its a shambles but it just cannot cope with 1000s trying to buy at the same time.
I do reserve judgement however until we see how the app works and how easy it then is for people to get into the games.

After just over an hour of trying I was able to purchase for the 5 people in our group, almost the same seats as the last time which considering the number that were gone, im happy with
Glad I read about putting the names in after the seat selection etc on here
My concern was that they have merged my Debenture account and SSC accounts together now and they have 1 log in to the two separate sites. I had my debentures long before joining the SSC as I never used to go to away games and when trying to link up my friends and family my SSC number has been replaced by my debenture number for logging in. (no one could find me last night when we were trying to join up our accounts) .The points however have been transferred over and thankfully I was able to buy with the rest of the group as I tend to just use the debenture seats for club games now.

Would i be correct in saying the weekends results now mean that only Gretna or Edinburgh Uni can finish bottom of the league?

Are serious questions not being asked about McCall?
Considering the level of player he has as it disposal just now every time its a must win game his team has lost.
Perhaps his time as a manager is up.

Very impressed with my first visit to Dunbar. You knocked the ball about well but the Swifts gave up so much space, No 6 looks a player who can certainly ping a cross field pass.

Ok put it another way, I don't think the tax payer should be paying the wages of a professional Aberdeen fan that can't be arsed doing the slightest bit of research
They already do that for that total waste of air time that is the brain void of Pat Bonner covering the Celtic games

Whether you regard St Pauli as diddies or not seems to be missing the point. Which is that Willie Miller has a phone that he can spend 30 seconds googling a players name if he doesn't recognise you & would then be able to at least bluff you into thinking he knows a little of what's talking about. He can't even be arsed to do that.
I don't need the guys on the radio to know everything about every new signing but the bare minimum of effort for a job you're getting paid to do isn't actually asking all that much. He doesn't have to do this. I'm sure there's someone at NorthSound or the like (or more likely with Radio Scotland some barely sentient ex-pro) who'd grasp the chance to cover Aberdeen games with both hands.
A club who's highest league title is Bundesliga Nord 2 and is only famous for a brown kit and politics is by definition diddie

Im surprised no one else has commented on this but i had this on in the car driving back from an East of Scotland Premier league game on Saturday
Around 4.50 Kenny MacIntyre asks Willie Miller , how long to play at Tannadice. His genuine answer was "I dont know, i dont own a stop watch" to which they just carried on as if it did not matter.
Is he aware his phone can do this?
If he genuinely does not have a phone capable would it not be a worth while investment to buy a stopwatch or upgrade his phone.
Even if he forgot to start his stopwatch or phone, the betting sites tend to have a clock running on the game.
The other big mystery of the weekend was , where was Pat Bonner? he would have been class at Arbroath v Partick rather than Tam Courts who seems to have switched his name back from Thomas. His reporting sounded like they had just picked someone out of the crowd to cover the game.
