Coming in to the last week of the domestic loan window. any rumours of player movements?
Hopefully the SFA, FIFA and UEFA will stop keeping transfer windows a secret from Ayr in the future, sneaking them in has killed us over the last couple of seasons.

mum not sure what age the keeper coach is but it might be an option to have him on the bench for emergencies and bring in an emergency loan if Albinson gets injured0 -

It'll be a hard road back for Arbroath this season but other than that, it's too tight to call. With other teams showing a marked improvement and the 7 teams above them now cutting each others throats every week, they need a good run of results that look a long way off currently.
I think Dundee United, Raith and Partick are the only teams currently that can feel safe. The teams that emphasise this are Dunfermline and Morton, both have seen runs of results in very different directions and neither have seen a gap build.
From Ayr's point of view, we have been a lot better since Brown took over, wins against Queens Park and Airdrie, throwing away the game against Dundee United thanks to Albinson chucking two in and a free hit against Rangers, it has been night and day to Bullen, who was clearly lost and out of his depth. Brown made a couple of selection errors on Saturday but wasn't afraid to make the changes, Bullen would most likely have stuck with them, certainly for a lot longer.
We shifted a lot of shite in the window but the replacements haven't shown up much. We still have only one semi-fit right back who on his day is less than average. We lost Mutch on Saturday, probably for the season so we are at the mercy of Albinson and his growing list of calamities. If we get a few injuries or suspensions in certain areas then we could be in bother.
I am more confident that we will finish 4th to 7th currently than I was under Bullen. Two games against Raith and Thistle will hopefully show how far we've come or have to go.

I see Willoughby as a straight swap for Dowds rather than McKenzie although I’ve not seen enough of him to base that on anything. Looking at his scoring record, he seems more of a centre forward who hits purple patches rather than a forward who does the shovel work like McKenzie.
With two in the Middle, McKenzie does a lot of helping out, especially with Chalmers and Murphy.0 -

Today was the first day since Brown took over I was concerned by his line up.
Bryden was a gamble, Tomlinson deserves a chance but perhaps off the bench for now and having a team that can’t accommodate a player like Chalmers is set up wrong.
First half we dropped out of things for long periods and looked very flat, Murphy was the only creative force. We defended ok for the most part and the midfield put in plenty of graft but we didn’t look much like creating anything.
Chalmers coming on Changed things, Sanders made us better at the back as well. I hope it was more of a gamble by Brown rather than he believed Bryden and Tomlinson were the answer today. Both out of position and he made the changes early so I don’t want to be critical of Brown or the players but less of that please.We managed the game well after Airdries second goal and showed composure that was missing in the Bullen era, we’d have shat it when they went to 3-2
Sanders made a difference but I am not sure the Christmas loan players are much of an upgrade on the players we had.
Chalmers and Murphy’s inventiveness got us through today, along with Dowds finishing. Amartey was fine, verging on crap. Everyone else played well. We need to play Chalmers and Murphy every week. McKenzie and Dowds as well.
If we drag out results that keep up 3rd to 8th for the rest of the season and get some business done early, I’ll be happy enough. Dowds and Chalmers are a must and getting them signed up now would set us up well early for next season.

Been really flat going forward, Bryden hasn’t contributed much and Dowds, apart from the goal hasn’t held the ball up at all.
Plenty of energy but we don’t look like we are comfortable going forward at all.0 -

If I remember correctly, Darren Henderson was subbed/sent off and Tam Woods skelped him when he walked past the Ayr bench and got carded.

Yeah, he’s never giving us the benefit of doubt on any decision.
During the Campbell money era, he spoke about two incidents with referees that always stuck with me.
One was at the old Love street, Stuart Kean was brought down on the edge of the 18 yard box in a last man challenge and the ref waved play on. Money went daft to the point the ref went over to speak to him. The referees explain was, if I’d given the free kick,I’d have to have sent the boy off.
The second was a ref who came in to the changing room before an away game against Dumbarton, he came in and asked Ayr to change out of their home kit to allow Dumbarton to wear their away kit which was white. I can’t remember why. Ayr were already stripped and Money told him not to be so daft. The referee shouted to him, you’ll get f**k all out of me today then and flounced off. He sent Barry Nicholson off for a last man challenge 10 yards in to the Dumbarton half.
He also refereed a game at Somerset against Peterhead, I can’t remember what happened but it involved Eddie Forrest and a penalty I’m sure.0 -

A reminder for the uninitiated, he has referereed 27 Ayr games and we've won 3! A whopping 11% win rate with him as referee.
Not only is that a statistical anomaly but he is a certified DKB to boot.
You could discount any in the last year, we barely won any regardless of the ref.
The first game I remember him officiating was the play-off game against Airdrie when he sent off Longridge after 20 minutes for his first challenge that looked a yellow but he was straight out with the red as quick as he could.0 -

Depends. You get referees like Stevens that manages to ruin every game. You also get referees that are so naive that they ruin a game by giving free kicks every time a team asks for one. They are almost always the new batch we get every year.
You’ll always get mistakes made by referees and you have to accept that but some just don’t help themselves.

Bullen set up home here and immersed himself in the club and it was whipped away from him quite quickly so I have sympathy for him wanting to keep involved in the social aspect of it. Probably a lot of players and staff are still in contact with him. If you’ve ever been made redundant and all of a sudden don’t see folk you spent 8 hours a day with every day, it’s a bit weird.

On the QOTS child hooligan. There has been a rise in these tadgers in recent years and as someone who is old enough to remember the last wave of casual culture…..they can f**k off. All it will do is stop families going to games and stop older children in their formative years being allowed to go with their pals
A bunch of 16 year olds, coked up while cosplaying as a football hooligan is fucking tragic. Even worse when it’s a guy in his 50s or 60s battling with them.
