  1. My friend said the exact same thing. We may well lose games, but we've got to be up there to get the opportunity to test ourselves in competitive games against the big teams in the first place. There's no reason at all why we can't be competitive up there. We can play AND grind out results. We have earned our place in the top group on merit, we deserve to be there.
  2. I thought last nights match was a masterclass in defensive organisation. The defence was superb. Porteous in particular was very good. The offside trap was on point all night. I had the fear they would score up until the last few seconds on injury time. A good, gritty, organised performance that got us the result that we needed to get promoted. Promotion and a playoff secured AND we get to play with the big boys next time. Credit must go to Steve Clarke and the players for achieving promotion and showing such resilience after a disappointing summer.
  3. Gordon Strachan identified that Scotland's footballers were genetically inferior to other country's footballers, so the current squad were created and artificially aged in a secret laboratory underneath Hampden Park.
  4. Austin MacPhee looks like the dead Foo Fighters drummer.
  5. I don't remember him being particularly awful, but he was definitely a signing we should have never had to resort to. He had been retired for about three years before he signed for us. Truly grim times those were.
  6. People for whom English is not their first language tend to speak better English than native English speakers. Just my observation of having met many people from other countries.
  7. Fond memories of watching both teams play out numerous 3-3 draws. Ayr 3 ICT 3
  8. We could probably fill a couple of starting elevens. Tommy Tait basically played for us for free, so I won't slag him for that. In terms of starting every week and being utter guff, I'd probably say David Dunn was the worst. He was a "winger" who couldn't do anything a winger was meant to do.
  9. Tbh me calling him shit was probably a bit harsh, as he had a couple of good performances. It is understandable that there would be a clamour for a player who had played well in a couple of games to play in a team as awful as the one we had back then. However, he was not good enough to play like that consistently. He was nowhere near the worst player we had back then though. He's still only 36. I thought he would be older than that.
  10. Did we sign Doyle the same time we signed Graeme Brown? IIRC, some local celebrity financed those deals as Barr had stopped funding us by then. I remember being buzzing we had signed Brown. He looked a good signing. Unfortunately his time with us was plagued with injuries and he only managed three goals in his season and a bit with us.
  11. There's a kebab shop in Ayr and one of the people behind the counter looks like Southgate.
  12. You'd think a 3-3 draw would be a cracking game. This wasn't.
  13. Did he not have two spells with us? I remember he was released then later returned briefly.
  14. Someone has been playing sillybuggers on Doyle's wikipedia page. I knew he had not scored ten goals that season - especially because we scored a ridiculously low number of goals that season. Stewart Kean was our top scorer with 7.
  15. Is your avatar moving or am I having some kind of seizure?
