I was born in 1990 so Ayr United have been absolute horse-shit for most of my life. This is THE team of my generation, definitely the Ayr team I have enjoyed watching the most. We should enjoy this as long as we can because we never know when it will turn to shit again. Who would have known when we played in the 2002 League Cup Final that, two-and-a-half years later, we would be watching players who weren't even good enough for the Juniors playing for Ayr?

The "cash in" mentality is exactly why we have not competed at this level for a long time. You don't get to stay at a higher level if you sell your best players just because you get offered money for them and you might lose them for nothing at the end of the season. A good performance in the league and a decent cup run this season will be worth a lot more than whatever money is being offered for Shankland - even if he does leave for nothing at the end of the season.

I actually thought it was the worst book I've ever read. Full of vacuous characters, needless violence and endless lists of stupid shite such as whatever people are wearing. It's the work of a mentally disturbed individual trying too hard to be "shocking". I'm about 3/4 of the way through Crime and Punishment. Enjoying it.

There used to be a Prog thread on here but I can't find it. Either it has disappeared or I cannot read. Anyway, I love a bit of Prog Rock. Genesis, Marillion, I.Q., Pink Floyd, Dream Theater, Yes, Rush, Camel, Porcupine Tree, Gazpacho etc. Gazpacho are well worth checking out.

During the majority of my time supporting Ayr United we have been in the third tier. The Hibs game were we won 1-0 with Roberts goal and the aforementioned Hearts game were the best nights of my life at that point as well.

Exactly. Shankland is obviously not going to be playing for Ayr United forever but we should just enjoy being able to see a player like him playing for us. It's been a long time since we had a player of his calibre.
