  1. A girl I used to work with always wanted to be an actress in musicals or something. To be fair I heard her sing once and she was very good. However she recently posted this on facebook;

"Today I have said goodbye to one part of my life. However as the world works in weird, wonderful and mysterious ways, I have also today said hello to a new chapter in my life. I chased my reality not my dream as dreams rarely exist.... I am looking forward to my new and positive start, as of Tuesday I am Supervisor of Womenswear and Lingerie at Debenhams , I am so proud I have been given this opportunity"

I think this is the worst photo on the thread. Utter clowns. The lad on the left looks as if he's not really into the same scene, he's trying his best but he doesn't want to look like a total fanny so hasn't gone the whole hog, the way the other two have. He fails as he still looks like a fanny, and a total fanny by association.

  3. Will Doran even appear this series? Would have thought Oberyn (who's already been cast) would be the only one of the Dornish to appear this early, with Doran, Hotah and the rest coming in the following series.

I don't think he will. He doesn't feature heavily until Feast for Crows (that said Theon doesnt come back until Dance with Dragons yet was in the last series). I think it's difficult to bring too many new characters into each series as well without making it confusing. An hour an episode isn't long enough to explain things. I think we'll start to see a lot of characters, and maybe some storylines, being ommitted.

  4. Mace Tyrell maybe? I was hoping for Brendan Gleeson, but Gattis could work.

That's probably who it'll be then. I was convinced Gleeson had got the role, thought I had read it somewhere but must just have heard people suggesting him.

  5. It's the anniversary of the Battle of the Boyne.

Nice day for it anyway. If the Boyne had been in December we wouldn't h

Thing is the Battle of the Boyne was fought on the July 1st, albeit in the old style calendar, so it would make it the 11th in today's calendar. The Battle of Aughrim was fought on July 12th (22nd in today's calender) 1691, which was the decisive battle in the war.

I quite like questioning people who 'celebrate' the 12th on this, as more often than not they are pretty ignorant towards it. Apologies for being pedantic.

  6. Few of us heading along to The Specials gig tonight.

Got a spare ticket if anyone is looking for one. Face value.

  7. So, after a long wait I finally watched the first two seasons. I'm a huge fan of the books and held off watching for a long time. Some thoughts:

Most of the casting was spot on in regards to how I pictured certain characters. One I think they got badly wrong is Shae. I also don't like how they have seemingly altered her and Tyrions relationship. Won't say too much more in case of spoilers, but I will be very interested to see how the writers proceed with this...

Lily Allen's brother annoyed me at first as Theon, but he grew into his role.

I didn't like how they changed Jon and Qhorin Halfhand's exchange beyond the wall.

Not enough emphasis on just how much Catelyn hates Jon Snow. It's pretty explicit in the book just how much she despises him.

The actress playing Arya is outstanding. Perfect portrayal.

Love Iain Glen as Jorah Mormont.

Some pretty petty things I admit. Overall though, I think they have done a brilliant job so far of bringing to the screen some pretty dense and hard to film material.

I can't wait to see the reaction of people who haven't read the books to the

    Red Wedding

People are going to lose their minds

I nearly stopped reading the books after that. Gutted.

I started the books after having watched the first series, so a lot of characters I just saw as how they were on the screen. I'd still say I think it's been cast very well.

  8. I'm assuming the vote given to chairmen was a choice between Div 1 or 3? So it was always a certainty that the newco would be in the SFL? I would like some confirmation that this is now the end of the saga so discussions on restructuing Scottish Football can begin.

As Captain Sensible said, there is a good chance Rangers will be back, and even nastier and more arrogant than they have been. So I won't be celebrating this decision.

  9. TODAY'S COMPETITION

Okay - news about Rangers has gone on a go-slow; so it's competition time.

P&B Agents, your mission - should you choose to accept it, is to find out all you can about a meeting last night, (Monday, 21st May) in Chinaski's bar in Glasgow.

Those present were, Graeme Souness, Andy Goram and a bunch of business-type suits.

Were they forming a new bid for Rangers FC, was it a cell meeting for a right-wing, military coup on Glasgow City Chambers or was it merely a "who's got the biggest ego/willy competion"?

We need transparency here, people; we need names to be named and rumours to be rumoured.

There will be a top prize, (a virgin packet of 20 Capstan Full Strength, to be prised, at your own risk, from my cat's, extremely vicious, chain-smoking claws) for the best, or most original, ridiculous or, heaven help us, truthful answer.

    We need to be told!

Take a step back now, please....

    Because....

this message will self-destruct in 10 seconds!

I heard Andy Goram had a large glass of house red.

  10. I quite like la tasca, been a few times and always enjoyed it. Frankie and benny's is ok but wouldn't rush back. Agree that wetherspoons is terrible.

Not a fan of nando's either, people rave about it but I just don't get it. The serving system is awful and the food is decidedly average. Oh, and bella italia is also shite.
