  1. I think the odds on that possibility may have lengthened considerably in the last 3 months.
  2. There's a lot of heat and not much light in here right now. So I'll ask the question; did anyone actually attend the Council Meeting last week and hear the submissions ? I mean, the Planning Committee had already recommended refusal, just as they did recently when WDC turned down an application from Lidl to build a shop on the former Hiram Walker's distillery site - it happens FFS. And if there are any villians afoot, we all need to make absolutely sure we're targetting the right ones
  3. It's a choker and no mistake, and Davie Smith is certainly not a natural right-back, but somehow I'm happier with him and Boomer than I would have been with Sam and Liam Dick, if that makes sense.
  4. This is very odd, and I wonder if there's more to this, especially when the squad has been stretched.
  5. For far too long now Dumbarton FC has been run by reactionary old men who have little by way of grace or public relations skills. Today was just another hamfisted example, and it's to be hoped that someone can let these lads know the feeling of the vast bulk of the supporters. It's often been said that the fans at our away fixtures are much more vocal and enthusiastic than the home crowds - is it any f***ing wonder with the sort of creeping Jesuses who prowl the corridors at The Rock ?
  6. Really ? There is one Alistair McCoist who quietly but very effectively kept Rangers in The Championship, and he also has a long experience of working with Ian Durrant. Surely worth a shout, or even a Cry, no ?
  7. Sorted, and good news about Grant G. Fair play to So8 for financially sponsoring the private treatment.
  8. Anyone got the scoop on the club website - it's down at the moment ?
  9. No-one would deny that, least of all Simon Barrow and Tommy Hughes, but having received no response did you not suspect there may have been a communications failure and at least try to make contact with said individuals prior to a game ? I mean, we are a small club with a small support base and it wouldn't have taken much trouble to find them. These guys put in a mountain of work on behalf of everyone involved in DFC's affairs and it's really disappointing you've felt the need to go public here.
  10. You seriously begin to wonder what effect this has on the morale of the playing squad; it can't be easy trying to grind out a result week-in, week-out. As for serious flashbacks, you'd be entitled as we are right now firmly right back in Bonnyrigg territory. And until Brabco are off the premises we are a club heading in one direction only.
  11. ...Robert Thomson scores his second of the afternoon for Morton......
  12. I'm beginning to pick up a mild panic here over the playing squad, and when that mentality sets in anyone in a jersey will begin to do. Let's not rewrite history; Tom Walsh was a pretty modest performer with us apart from one great showing against QoS, and taking him on again would be a big leap of faith.
  13. Scent of Deep Heat with him and Nade up front.
  14. For the record this building is a former bank in Helensburgh. The SNP has leased the ground floor in support of the excellent sitting MP Brendan O' Hara, whilst the floor above is occupied by a company called Perry Golf which specialises in grand golf tours for well-heeled people, one of the few activities which will be left in Scotland once the Britnats are finished with it.
  15. Well, the sooner we know one way or the other the better. If he does go then it will likely be total rebuild, not a good situation.
  16. Craigy Brittain - Jim Chapman hated the special regard in which he was held by the fans. On the subject of tonight's news, I'm a bit puzzled by some of those not mentioned. Callum G never established a starting place, Grant G has a very long term injury, whilst Nade looks to be well short of Championship-level fitness.
  17. Looking at the league table QoS look to be the only club now marking time towards the end of the season, with everyone else involved in something or other. At our end, St Mirren now have real momentum, Raith have been in freefall and whilst Ayr look utter dross they are still hanging in there. Even allowing for Hibs erratic form, I saw enough on Saturday evening to suggest that anything other than defeat for us at Dunfermline this week will be a real bonus. A win would be wonderful.
  18. I'm surprised there's not at least a contact mobile number listed, especially in a holiday week with a ticket fixture.
  19. Exactly - WTF are we to make of this ? And just wait until the club is very handily placed on the Dalmoak Everglades.
  20. Everyone seems to be applying logic which could normally apply in a 'normal' situation. Has anyone considered that we may well now have a Manager and Assistant whose hearts are no longer in it, and a Board of Directors who are accepting of that situation because they have no money to either get rid of them or hire a new appointment ? In such an 'abnormal' scenario the games and results simply become ugly background noise until the situation is addressed.
  21. You may well be absolutely spot-on with that phrase, but not in the way you mean. It would not surprise me at all if they are clinging on to the Manager because they simply can't afford to pay him off, and he is unwilling to walk without some 'agreement'.
  22. I think the pretty muted response on here to the recent announcement says a lot about the despondency of the Sons support right now. Lot's of folk getting past caring
  23. I'm reminded of a comment SA made at last year's POTY Dance when he said that 'many people had advised him not to go near Dumbarton'. Now if that was true, and I've no reason to doubt it, then that rather hints at the way the club as opposed to the team is perceived in football circles. So, again, if that were also true, should that not be a concern for us all ? Is it an indicator of how DFC is being run ? Are all the problems in the dressing room and on the park ? And why do I get the feeling that the next Board meeting will be concerned with the Bonnyrigg fan who ran across the pitch after they scored rather than a playing squad which is completely shot thro in numbers, confidence and morale ?
