  1. Eighteen quid is too dear but if Sons were playing well I would pay it. But, and I hate to say it, we are truly grim to watch right now and if it were free today I still wouldn't watch it.
  2. Maybe we need to see the wins at Montrose and Falkirk as unexpected bonuses on the evidence of what's happened since. We have too many problem positions to avoid again being in a relegation fight, and it's hard to watch.
  3. All the bigger indictment of Dumbarton then. We are a shambles, an utter shambles from back to front.
  4. And of course we are still waiting for Simply Red's prediction to come true. Happy days.
  5. I'm hearing that McGeever's injury may not be a quick-healer.
  6. By my reckoning the last time Dumbarton finished a game with eight players was on August 20th 1991 when, would you believe it, the opposition was Airdrie in a League Cup tie at Boghead. For a bonus point who can name the ex-Sons player who scored the extra-time winner in a 2-1 victory for the Diamonds ?
  7. I'm just watching Sunak on The Andrew Marr Show, The good news is that there will be no further fuel crises, the guy is oily enough to lubricate the entire country.
  8. The refereeing was abysmal but that wasn't the reason for Airdrie's winner. That was down to a goalkeeping error plain and simple, unfortunately a recurring feature. If you doubt this, check the reaction on the highlights of Paul Paton who thought he had just saved us a point.
  9. So, you come on here peddling a rumour, then when challenged to justify it you bottle it
  10. Well you tell us friend - if you come out with stuff like this and don't back it up we'll need to regard it as mince. Your call.....
  11. Putting aside the fact that the Peterhead commentray team said that the weather conditions had deteriorated going into the second half, the main difference for me was that the Blue Toon had players capable of carrying the ball along the ground to get upfield - Payne in particular - whereas we all too often resorted to hoofball. In a game where we needed Duthie and Wilson to get down the wings, they were largely peripheral to the action and we can't afford that. Secondly, the goalkeeping coach really needs to work on Ramsbottom's kicking from ground; it's bad enough normally but the second half on Saturday was an exercise in repeated madness.
  12. Johnson giving all sorts of takes on the phrase 'special needs' in that picture. Holy f**k.
  13. I understand your cynicism, but there comes a point at which news management and obfuscation cease to cut it and we are now rapidly approaching that situation. For even the most ardent Brexiteer, when their household budgets are shot thro and life has become a whole lot harder a tipping point emerges. But it won't be that which will do for Boris Gump, it will be the Men In Grey Suits in his own party - there is no political machine in the UK more ruthless than the Conservative Party. Getting rid of him won't of course improve anything in itself, but it could be the point at which the British public begins to resent the dominant greed, corruption and market-is-king political philosophy of the last 40 years. It's just a shame the Labour Party is a craven shambles under Starmer.
  14. Surely it can't be long now before the Black & White Minstrel Show is back with us. George Mitchell, Dai Francis and John Boulter, your country needs you !!
  15. Of course it is, it's the commencement of the full Americanisation of UK health and social care. Just don't get old or ill and you'll be fine.
  16. Can we look forward to an inspirational pre-match speech from the Chairman ?
  17. 36 appearances since season 2014/15 for a club which has bungee-jumped out of the league hardly inspires confidence.
  18. I'm wondering if Faz can conjure something before Tuesdays' deadline. Orsi's workrate has been superb but hr badly needs a strike partner. Worth trying Schiavone from the start if we don't sign anyone ?
  19. FTFY. I take absolutely nothing away from Queens very deserved victory today but at least let us recognise that at this level cash, and a decent amount of it, can buy you that quality - yourselves and Kelty are the obvious current examples.
  20. How did the lad Schiavone look when he came on ?
  21. Maybe we'll become possibly the first club in Scottish League history to have the opening home fixtures in two consecutive full league seasons postponed due to an unplayable pitch. Still, goal celebration music....
  22. Well yes, but those who agreed to this ground share on a pitch which has had problems for years will have to take responsibility for any further deterioration should it happen. Dumbarton Rock's post also highlights what an absolutely basic spec of a facility was built down there - you can bet the new owners will use that to their advantage.
  23. Indeed they can, but after the initial frisson of bravado has subsided the UK would almost certainly pay heavily for that course of action, both in and outwith the EU.
  24. I'm happy to be contradicted on any of this, but it is my understanding that the SFA is generally content to accept the recommendation/approval of the clubs themselves; in other words the clubs can effectively be marking their own homework. That may be OK in most cases but the presence of Andy Hosie in Dumbarton's affairs is far from perfect, such is his business track record. Unfortunately it appears that the same Mr Hosie has apparently been the main source of funding for the club until recently which probably explains why the club Board has kept very quiet, presumably hoping it all goes away. That may now no longer be a realistic option, never mind any failure of management. As for Heaney, for an experienced journalist he has broken one of the golden rules - HE has become as much the story as the shitstirring article he wrote.
