  1. Like most here I'm delighted that Shug has signed till the end of the season, I said when he first signed that I think he could be Murray's most important signing and I still think that. I'm not entirely against giving Kirkpatrick an extension but was there any need to? Was he in danger of being signed by anyone else? I doubt it and even then it would have been at the end of the season where if we wanted to keep him we could have offered him a good deal. He's been a good player for us and I'm happy to have him but I just hope this doesn't make him relax knowing that he's not playing for a new contract, maybe that's taking cynicism to the extreme though. I'm a wee bit disappointed with how the McNiff saga has been handled. He's still only 22 but was never really given a chance under Murray (various rumours as to why that is). Yes, he did look out of his depth when we first arrived in this division but who didn't? I just feel with Murray and Ross both being defenders and with Graham and now McLaughlin in the squad there's plenty of experience there for younger guys to learn from, not to mention how ridiculously short we are in that area. Still, if Murray has moved him on to bring in central defensive cover then fine.
  2. You big tease! Who were we playing last night?
  3. I think he should be given a chance. If we're giving Marko a chance then McNiff is more than worthy as cover.
  4. Coleman will not be released. If he is, it says a lot about our youth development process. Hopefully Shug (Shug Shug Shug) will sign soon and we can stop worrying about that. Centre half is the only position I'm worried about.
  5. My last post said I'll give him every chance, it was only my opinion on the signing. I'm quick to get on Dumbartons fans backs when they're booing them at home but people are free to put their opinions on here.
  6. Yeah, I'll give him every chance but it doesn't fill me with confidence.
  7. The team sitting bottom of the league barely any better off than we were at this time last year have just deemed him not up to the standard they need to survive so forgive me for thinking that he potentially won't be good enough for us.
  8. A potentially excellent signing followed up with a potentially horrific one.
  9. Sounds promising and I can understand why Murray's gone after him. None of our strikers are very prolific, they'll get goals here and there but it's clear Kane knows where the goal is. If he's relatively quick I'm not too bothered if he's lightweight.
  10. This the boy Dundee were after and some Saints fans feel he's better than Stevie May was at the same age? Good stuff if true. A centre half or two in now and we'll be in good shape.
  11. I'm hoping we've known for a couple of weeks and Murray's already been out looking to seee who we can get. Unless Smith has been playing a hell of a lot of bounce matches I wouldn't be confident of him lasting 90 minutes.
  12. It's just not that important. If both of our centre halves can read a game then they don't need pace to make up for their lack of positional sense. If we can get a quick centre half who can read the game then smashing but I'd rather we had a footballer than someone who was quick.
  13. Or read the game well enough that his pace isn't too important, like Graham.
  14. Disappointing that Barry's going but not surprising. The travelling never seemed to affect him on the pitch but you can understand it probably tires him out. I feel he's been a good player for us even if was prone to the odd moment of casual defending. I guess today will be his last game so lets hope we get the win. It will be interesting to see who we get in but we'll need someone quick.
  15. This is true, it should also mean that they are in a better position to deal with the situation (being full-time) but I guess that remains to be seen.
  16. At this point last year we had 5 points and Cowdenbeath had 14, Morton's gap isn't quite as big to make up so they are far from doomed.
  17. You're 9 points from safety. In no way is that impossible to claw back. I agree though, I can see Shiels doing well and I think Morton will be safe this year (unfortunately).
  18. Megginson for me is very much a confidence player. There are times when he looks right up for it and puts in a good shift and other times nothing comes off for him and you can see he's affected by that. With MacDougall coming on against Raith and getting a goal, I'd hope that he can kick on from that and be more like the player he was last year. That should also push players like Megginson/Gilhaney/Kirkpatrick as their position in the team should not be as clear cut as it has been so far. With Fleming back in the fold now, I'd hope we start with him and Prunty against Hamilton. We must remember Garry came to us as a striker and he's never really had a run of games in that position. Getting Agnew back is far more important to us than anything else though.
  19. Yes, I've heard Ian Murray picks his team based their reputation. He's 34, how many 34 year olds do you know that still have pace? So you haven't been to every game since the Raith defeat. Starting to think we can file you in the "troll" basket.
  20. It's amazing that for someone who's been so shite, he's started every game that he has been fit for and been subbed off in 4 games (not including QOS where he went off injured, after beating a defender into a tackle and taking a hit), all of which we've been chasing a goal. Even more amazing is that out of our 5 wins this season, Hugh Murray has played in 4 of them. The only win we've had without Murray was at Falkirk. It's almost as if he's an important part of the team.
  21. What Consolidate said. I've honestly never witnessed him backing out of a tackle, why would he? His whole career he's had the reputation of being a hard tackler and now because he picked up a knock he's worried he's going to get injured again? He may not have had a great game on Saturday or in the last few weeks but our problems aren't with Hugh Murray.
