  1. Of course they had to act. We were staring at the very real possibility of relegation or more likely finishing up in the play off spot in exceptionally poor form with a huge chance of going down.

I don’t for one minute fully blame Houston but he carries the can, likewise with Hartley (not that I feel he should be removed any time soon).

The players were taking the piss out of Houston & the club/fans as soon as they knew he was retiring. It didn’t change when Hartley came in either as the stench of failure was blinding in that dressing room.

Without Hartley’s intervention in January, Christ knows how worse last year would have been.

Folk gave Miller a standing ovation at Livi last January/February. I sat on my arse & my hands stayed in my pockets. Don’t deny what he did for us as a player in his spells but he and many others last year took the piss out of us. Houston’s name fitted into the GTF chants but it could easily have been most of that squads names.

Houston got rid of Baird, McHugh and McCracken from the playing side, with a Vaulks, Leahy and Danny Rogers away too.

All 6 of these guys were huge characters in the dressing room and well liked. Baird, McHugh and McCracken had to go (playing wise) but their influence in the dressing room would have been sorely missed.

A happy group of players (dressing room) can make the most average squad play well above themselves. Which we had.

We’ve went down a completely different route now and have to give it time.
  2. Which would be the last time he had a full season at this level, when his team won the title. Greasy, permaseething, obese mess he may be, but his record in management isn't bad.
If the current stack ringers at Falkirk aren't up to much then he'll rage quit in November though.

Can’t really argue with that to be honest.
  3. Doubt the lad will be on a lot of money. He will have been spotted and probably have performed well in the U23s down south and they felt he was worth a punt.

The fact he’s only here for 6months suggests it was a punt.

Hopefully he will get up to speed with the game here and prove his worth as I don’t want to see any player fail at our club.

At the moment he just seems to be like a frightened wee laddie.

  4. Everyone is entitled to their opinion of course, but don’t expect it not to be criticised when you’re booing at half time of what is effectively a pre season friendly.

You see the fuckin tool that left at 8.15. 30 b*****d minutes into he game unreal.

The walloper element was typified on Saturday when the ball landed in the crowd. We were 1-0 down and the ball was allowed to land when it could have been caught or punched down. The fella just took his time throwing it back.
  5. biggest let down in 35 years has been loy. I don't normally have high expectations of players coming in however we knew him well and what he was capable of. we had been good the season before and the thought of a front line of loy Austin sibbald and hippo did get me excited. creativity with speed and experience. just a real shame the way it worked our for all parties

biggest surprise for me without a doubt was stainrod. sure he had pedigree but to be honest I'd never heard of him till he arrived. let's be honest we played at a dump (our dump) of a stadium and played in the second tier in Scotland so why would anyone that good come to us? when I saw him he was old overweight and couldn't run. how wrong was I? not just the amazing goals he scored (I was at Perth for the 57 yard kick off goal into the wind and rain) it was his pi$$ taking on and off the field his trickery and the opposition looked terrified of him. didn't know what he would do next. to top it off we actually won the league. without a doubt my favourite season and a half of watching falkirk. closely followed by watching crunchie latapy and the McCall season with Coyle and Samuel

    Loy?? Loy???

Burron O’Brien, Paul Wright and Derek Ferguson are way ahead of him on that list.

  6. Perhaps so, and that’s quite re-assuring too. However, I don’t think he filled the team with unknowns from the English lower leagues.
It’s an exciting time, for sure, but our performance next season could go to either extreme given we know so little about them.

He filled the team with journeymen which could have completely backfired.

Let’s just wait and see. I looking forward to this season more than I have since we came down.
