And with this post, we may well have arrived at the crux of the issue at the bottom of this case.
The constitution settlement at this time is indeed important - nae crucial, in fact.
Here's where we differ, though:
1 - It's not worth celebrating; (it's worth remembering, but not celebrating)
2 - The way that this event is 'celebrated' is embarrassing;
3 - Very few of your 'brothers' will be 'celebrating' for the reasons you mention - for them, it's all about getting it up Roman Catholics, because, for their own biggoted reasons, they hate them.
This.
Everyone I know who are involved in the "celebrations" as you put it, are only there to get it right fuckin up the Catholics and most ordinary members of the human race by saying look at what we can do.

"Defending Protestant civil and religious liberties"It's quite funny how protestants were the ones who got burnt to death by Catholics, but Protestants are the bad ones and the bigots. People are outraged at the OO for defending Protestant civil and religious liberties, talk about being bigoted....
You talk some shite.

Scots philosophers were among the leading lights of the Enlightenment, as you probably know - not that it's got anything to do with orange walks, mind!
It appears we as a nation were more enlightened in the 1700s.
Seriously though this practice is embarrassing for me as a Scotsmen and I think the vast majority would agree with me.

And we are still to see the effects in 2013I think it kicked in around 1750.

Well that’s just silly. There is a well-trod path from The Reformation to The Revolution of 1688 and then to The Enlightenment. This is a good thing.
The OO celebrate one part of that chain. Best wishes to them.
And when does this kick in in Scotland?

In Scotland, the majority of general public are opposed to Orange Marches, as shown by research carried out by Glasgow City Council in 2001 (based on a representative sample of 1,000 adults) which revealed that 53% of people were in favour or strongly in favour of banning Orange Marches, with 16% undecided and 24% in favour or strongly in favour.[10] It is accepted that matters such as national days are marked by parades by other organisations (whether religious or representing other groups) such as the Scouts and the Boys' Brigade but apart from one-off anniversaries such as centenaries, that tends to be the limit of such activity. This is in stark contrast to Orange Walks which - in some areas of Glasgow - can be heard/seen almost every weekend during parts of the summer months. The Order's public position on its "rights to march" is therefore at odds with more generally accepted views about public demonstrations and/or right to free speech. Consequently, but also due to disproportionate costs,
there have been moves to restrict the number of marches, for example by Glasgow City Council.[11]0 -
There is nothing wrong with a OW in 2013 Scotland.

Are they not making a special effort this year and next in opposition to the referendum? They'll be bussing 'em in from NI.
That happens every year tbh, but for sure they'll make even more of a big deal about it.

People who find Orange walks offensive need to get a grip, IMO.
Answer the question ffs, you think there is absolutely nothing wrong with a OW in 2013 Scotland?

So you are against another religion and their beliefs? You're a bigot then, simple as that.
Its painfully got fuckall to do with religion you ignoramus. I actually know most of the Ardrossan winton flute band through school and I guarantee none of them go to church on Sundays
Your post is testament to the problems we have in the west of Scotland frankly.
At the end of the day, your all supposed to be Christians, no?

You are not being serious.
Are you?

I don't think they should be banned but I wish they would f**k off.
ARe there more or less of these than in decades gone by?
Exactly how I feel mate.
I would imagine there are more nowadays than there used to be, not a weekend passes down here where there isn't one, the joys of living 2 miles away from Kilwinning

If Orange walks are so outrageous, why have they not been banned?
In your opinion there is absolutely nothing wrong with it? You don't think its incendiary and possibly offensive to Catholics in Glasgow.
For the same reason Anjem Choudary is allowed to protest soldiers funerals.

Not trolling.
Just don't understand the hatred for the Orange Order.
I don't particularly like them, but I don't hate them either.
So there's nothing wrong with it at all?

Nothing wrong with an Orange walk.
Obvious troll.

How many people will be attending these Walks in total?
Is Glasgow big enough for 57 different ones? I'm not really familiar with the overall layout of the place, is it the case that every Scheme has it's Walk.
Too many for a modern Western democracy.

I was disappointed with Prometheus, I went in expecting Aliens so I think that played a part.
But overall it's pretty poor.

It's as if they want people to buy Playstation's.360 version to come on 2 discs, both versions to require mandatory 8gb install.

Yeah I think I'll probably start from the first book, not sure how it will be given I know who gets their head cut off etc.Nah, you would need to begin from book one as there is plenty of other characters that are not included in the tv show. They are really good books as well.
I reckon it will be good to put faces to names though.

I realise as I type this that's it's probably a stupid question.
But given that I've watched the whole series so far, is it an absolute necessity that read the books in order, or could I go on to say the 3rd or 4th book straight away?
As you can see I'm anxious to continue the story.

It does.Watched the pilot yesterday, i thought it was great. Hope it keeps it up.
Easily one of the greatest tv shows of all time.

Battleship is an abomination, truly awful.Watched two films this weekend, Premium Rush starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Battleship. I honestly don't know which one was worse.
Premium Rush 2/10
Battleship 2/10

The book is absolutely fantastic. I love how it's stories from all over the world, I've heard the film is only from the American point of view. Before seeing the movie, I decided to start to read World War Z. Being a fan of The Walking Dead, I was keen to get this book. I wasn't disappointed and really enjoyed it from start to finish. The book is set in a report/interview style which I was worried about but the writer manages to nail the different styles nicely. It gives a good run through of how the pandemic starts and spreads and how people would re-act to a zombie outbreak.

Yeah I absolutely loved it, the ending took me a while to get used to but I guess it was the best way to do it.I have. It starts to get going at a fair pace half way through book 2 and ends up really engrossing. The last book in the series tends to divide opinion a bit but I loved it.
I've heard he wrote another called 'The Wind Through The Key Whole' I haven't read it though.
I agree, midway through the second it picks up, but I also enjoyed 'The Gunslinger' it was much simpler than the ones that came after it but its a great short story.
Supposedly they are looking into making a movie.
