Like you I have never felt that the local council have taken much of an interest in the affairs of DFC. Indeed they have often seemed to be a stumbling block. If the Council are happy to ease Brabco's way it makes their current investment in Clydebank's stadium all the more galling. For the amount that they are spending on that they could just about buy out Brabco's interest in DFC and then run the Rock as a community stadium.

There is no investment in a stadium for Clydebank!

Holm Park which is council owned will be upgraded for use by the community which will include Yoker Athletic and Clydebank. Most of the cash will be spent on putting down a 3G pitch for use by everyone in Clydebank.

The problem with your current stadium is that its not available to the community.

I`m sure if you went to Sportscotland etc they`d part fund a 3G pitch for the stadium which would make it more of a commumity asset.

Fair point, yes. Wilson's "trust me that won't happen" guarantee just won't cut it on that front.

Thats the scenario id be most worried about!

They could pull the same trick that happened to us and say the big bad council wouldnt let them build what they wanted so they`ve been forced into selling the stadium site for housing to keep the club alive. You`ll be left with a groundshare agreement at Cappielow and they`ll be off over the horizon with their pockets full.

  3. From owning your stadium to becoming a tennant doesnt sound like much of a deal to me!

From an outsiders point of view you guys dont need a new stadium,so why jeopordise the future of the club by chasing some pipe dream by people who are only interested in lining their own pockets.

Hopefully the golden share will stop anything from happening and someone with the club at heart will buy it from the Brabconians!

  4. Worrying times for you all.

The main question i'd be asking is what will happen if the new stadium doesn't get the go ahead.

The people involved seem to have little/no interest in the club so you have to wonder how they intend to get their money back or indeed turn a profit on their investment.

Good luck and keep asking awkward questions!

  5. Surely Dumbarton will take 12 off of some diddy Junior team?

Seriously though they knocked us out of the Junior Cup through there a few years back 3-2 in a howling gale. The pitch has a big slope on it but its not end to end like you`d expect its from one side to the other!

The only cover in the ground is for home fans only so if its raining take a brolly.

I see you lads still can't distinguish between jokes and serious comments.

Just to confirm and to suck the fun out of it all, it was a joke.

A wee smiley or wink at the end of a sentence would usually suffice!

Clydebank - offended by everything, ashamed by nothing.

    Precious little souls.

What have we got to be ashamed about?

We are a fan owned and run club who were done over by crappy owners and have gone about resurrecting our club the best we can.

Apologies if it came across as disrespectful, but most of the subs we brought on wouldn't get near either of our respective first teams.

Ours were 3 trialists; a guy from Clydebank Juniors, a guy who played for Strathspey Thistle, and a guy who couldn't get in a woeful Cowden team last season along with two youth team players. McCallum's had a few starts, but still has yet to fully convince and Ryan Clark who only made his full debut on Monday night.

So aye, your subs were almost certainly better. Certainly Agnew, the 11 (Mcloesky or something?) and Kemp.

There`s no club called Clydebank Juniors?

  9. Joel has many deficiencies but lack of pace isn't one of them!

Don't know who you've been watching KF?

Ran away from the Dumbarton defence in the friendly last season and we'd only been training for a week.

I hope he comes back to us.

Good luck to Dumbarton for the season ahead hopefully catch a couple of games ðŸ‘

  10. Goalscoring for a part time club in an almost full time league will always be a problem.

Nade did well but wasn't there long and has gone?

Darian McKinnon was playing in Dumbarton for years and you didn't sign him so excuse me for being sceptical about your scouting sysyem!
