Looking at your last annual accounts you had nearly a million quid in the bank at the end of last season. Seems incredible that you have ended up bottom of the league despite having that money lying around.

Where might they have got half a million quid from I wonder....

Even then though 450k in the bank is a decent sum for a champ side.

We aren't in a position to wait for Ian Murray to do it either which is why I find it very hard to understand the clamour to go for him.

Why would we have to take 3 years like? He took Airdrie from 5th the year before he arrived to 3rd in his first season. They were then second last season only 2 points behind partick. This season they are comfortably in second once again. It's not like they've been shit for two seasons and suddenly come good. They've been there or there abouts every season under Murray so I've no idea where this 3 year rubbish comes from.

No, but everything points to an experienced manager rather than a rookie.

Miller could be another Gerrard but we, at this point of time, just can’t take the risk.

Even if he was a gerrard we aren't in the position of waiting  3 years for him to do anything  like rangers had to.

There’s so much to do that our Sporting Director should have done, but never bothered his backside about.

Our U18 side seem to have three lads that look as if they are made of the right stuff, but are probably a year or two away from being 1st team material.

Thing is, we have no pathway beyond U18 level, so the risk is that other clubs will now pick them off. Clearly, Holt has failed to put a proper structure in place, and Fergus for all of the buzz talk, isn’t exactly in the first flush of his coaching career, and the achievements of note seem to be pretty thin on the ground. The whole Holt/Fergus structure seems to have been built on sand. Just lots of buzzwords.

Bringing in an under 11 side that can't play anyone  was a huge cock up for a start. We'd have  been better off looking at starting up a b team that would include players from the under 18s and those out of favour .

  5. There's absolutely zero chance that any plan was in place for miller to replace Rennie at the end of the season. Rennie was appointed after interview for a start. He then chose miller as his assistant . Rennie had agreed to the 6 month contract well before miller came on board. I'm sure that the new bod realise that someone with experience is needed to replace Rennie and I'll be very surprised if that's not what happens.

Love how you are back to pretending you know nothing and are just guessing.  Subtle as a brick 😂

I've really no idea what his contract situation is. I can't see us paying compensation in our current climate but you never know I suppose. I certainly don't know who the next manager is going to be either.

Since the club have not put out an advert for the job and the importance of getting an early appointment. Suspect they have the individual they want and its HR due diligence checks etc taking place.

Could get an announcement any time.

They will leave Miller in charge to the end of the season so if its not him that's appointed its a fresh start untainted by this season.

Depends on whether the person is currently at another club or not I suppose. We certainly don't want another McKinnon debacle so I doubt if that was the case that anything would be announced till the season is over for that club. That could be a while yet given the playoff finals are middle of may if they are involved in them. If he's out a job then could be announced any time. I'd expect miller will go back to his media work at the end of this season.

I think we all know who we would not want, and maybe have an idea who we really would want.

I have my own bias on the “don’t want” front, but I don’t know enough about the managerial market place to say who I do want (other than Bill Shankly).

Whoever it is, providing she/he is not a complete space cadet, they have to be given the backing of the support, and they have to be given time…….and time probably means three windows, and probably four which would translate as two full seasons. Do we have the collective patience for that?
I really hope so, because I don’t think there’s any other way at this point in time.

The one thing is that in season 1, they have to do better than this season, and given the squad we have going into next season, that might be more difficult than it first appears (unless we can miraculously offload the vast majority).

We need to see progress and that's the main thing for me. A team giving its all would be nice for a change. I also still feel we should be aiming to get in the playoffs next season which would be a good start.

    When reading the following words;

The process of recruiting a new manager has already begun and we hope to be able to announce an appointment as soon as possible."

It would tell me that a decision has been made (see our previous coaches going back a few years). However, a good thing here is our board has substantially changed - doesn’t mean though that they won’t consider Kenny Miller (there might be those in the club who still can’t believe he came to Falkirk, so give him the gig, which will upset many).

Incidentally, does anyone else feel the BBC  pic of KM is a reminder of Alvin Stardust (minus the hair and charisma)?

It's not going to be Kenny miller.

It will all come down to player recruitment for me. Regardless of who the new manager is, we won’t be going anywhere if there’s a 6th successive season of poor signings.

The new manager will have significantly less resources available so will need to have good contacts.

Resources will depend on whether the fans back the new appointment and the players being brought in.  Hopefully whoever the new incumbent is he's one that gets the fans interested.

We can’t be thinking about the Championship though. The sole focus has got to be getting out of League 1.

Whoever we appoint just has to get us out of this league. Their record or wondering if they’re good enough for the Championship is irrelevant.

Of course but if  you have two guys  that have both done well in league one then I'd err towards the one whose got the far better record at a higher level. Plus Johnston's coming off a disastrous couple of years at queen's whilst mcglynn has been a success far more recently. It's not going to be Johnston anyway.

If people want a manager to get out of this league, then AJ has done it better and in a shorter time frame than McGlynn……..and both times he won a full campaign.

When we were one point behind them, it’s pure revisionism to say we were pish, and them being one point ahead were much better. The one deciding factor for me would have been home advantage. In eight Championship meetings at TFS, Raith won 2. There was 1 draw, and Falkirk won 5.

    McGlynn knew it too.

With Johnston though your going to have to punt him if he does get you promotion as his record in the champ is diabolical. Mcglynn has a decent record in league one and the championship.

  13. Even if the league ended in the way it did they shouldn't have been anywhere near us considering the difference in budgets the two sides had. His recruitment was head and shoulders better than ours whether it was youngsters like Gullan Armstrong and Henry or oldies like McLean and Baird.  He's won this league previously and had finished runners up in the championship previously and third last year. This year they are probably doing as well as their budget would expect them too in comparison to the other sides if you put aside the miracles being carried out by dick Campbell.  The whole goodwillie thing I'm sure he regrets as much as anyone at Raith but at the end of the day as manager of the club he needs to recommend the best players he can and then it's up to the board to decide morally whether it's the correct signing or not.A manager that has won this league and done well in the championship whose recruitment record has been excellent in recent years surely has to be one of our options if he becomes available.

The new squad cost rule comes into play in June 2022 so how could QP have paid a manager £250k per annum ?

I don't think queen's park will worry much about European football till they're out of league one to be honest.

McGlynn is probably what we need at this crossroads. With the recent boardroom changes not sure if he’s still as popular.
Car crash interview about GW then the immediate resultant loss of sponsors/RR ladies certainly hasn’t helped his reputation around the club.

Would like the club to sound out Ross (yes I know he’s still getting paid a kings ransom) with a view to a long term plan, can only say no.

Preference would be Wright and Liam Craig as player coach. He’s came unstuck at Killie but his SJ reign is very underestimated.

We pay a maximum of 80k for a manager when we are doing well. Having turned down 250k to lead queen's parks new project there is absolutely no way he's coming to us.
