More players expected in as Ewings and Barr are out for the trip to Forfar.We can field a good 11 but the bench will be lacking in numbers.I imagine Kassarate, clark,and mccallum on the bench.The rest of the team picks itself.

A player i would like to see at SONS is Nathan Austin....maybe we could get him on loan in January should he not command a first team place with falkirk.Think he would link up well with berbathom and stevenson.

Its possible they might prioritise but in terms of the number of fixtures we have played only 2 full friendly fixtures so i think concentrating seriously on these cup ties should be deemed a priority.

Think all cups are important to us this season.As it stands we are more than capable of progressing from our LC group and should try to do so.I wouldnt like these ties to be treated as friendlies.

I think our first 11 is good and arguably better than last season.My point is that we will have a 16 player pool plus 2 development squad players which over the season i feel is not enough.I think right now in July we have a great chance to progress to the last 16 of the LC something which i would attach a high priority to.We are still the best PT team in Scotland on the park IMO.

What i wrote was not scaremongering just an appraisal of the current situation re the playing squad at the moment.Notice i put in big letters SO FAR as our signing campaign is not yet finished.Hope that clears things up.

I just feel the full time status of those clubs will matter in the end.As far as squad size goes i think we are probably the weakest in that area SO FAR.Depends a lot in who we get in and who morton , ayr etc get in between now and the end of august.

8th may be achieveable but it depends on who the last 2 players will be.Supposing we get the better of AYR what other team could we realistically beat over the 36 games???

Good reply Moonster and i agree with what you say.Remember i just passed on what i was told about the wages and player (lack of )offers .I mentioned avoiding the THREAT of administration not neccesarily meaning that we will end up there.Stranraer Stenny and Livi have been under that threat in recent years but avoided it.Im suggesting that this year we are doing the same.I think the action we are taking in terms of cuts is good and obviously necessary.

Yep the club got a boost from the new stadium in terms of income streams and crowds were averaging as you say about 1000, in the second division.Last season we managed the same but needed big away gates from Rangers and Hibs in order to do so.However its not just us as Morton have suffered a similar decline in the last 10years or so.Any ton fans with stats.

Theres no need for the harsh language....my intention is not to scaremonger but to analyse the current situation based on what ive heard(which may turn out to be rubbish re the wages) and to be genuinely realistic about the delicate state of affairs.I dont see it as scaremongering.Not my intention.

Just to respond briefly.....i dont have hard facts about wages or offers from other clubsat all, its just what i was told by 2 people connected directly with the club.If they were either exaggerating or not being accurate then fair enough, i was merely passing on what i had been told. Boghead ranter.........you must admit the current situation re the club does not look good, im also referring to the Herald piece about Brabco and Dumbarton fc being in a very unclear position.I dont think anyone can be sure of what will happen next good or otherwise, but i do get the feeling that Gilbert was a main player at the club and his loss may have a greater impact than many of us can imagine.I really do hope this is all a storm in a teacup and things will turn around.But the uncertainty is worrying.

In all reality it seems we are a club fighting to avoid the threat of administration....i feel a good run in the LC may be neccesary for us to have any chance of strengthening in January.The current article 'tough times for the boss' kinda says it all.Steve doing a good job to build a decent first 11 but thats about it.So hope i am wrong with all of this.

All of last seasons squad are playing for less money than last year ...none of them were offered deals elsewhere.Add to that the scrapping of the DS plus 4 players at least less than last season,we are being outbid by L1 sides for players all in all i call that a vast reduction.Not sure about Antonia leaving if that has anything to do with the status quo, anymore than GL's passiing.Just speculation on my part.

Cant answer you directly SP as i dont have hard figures.......but from Saints end it came out that his wages were being paid mostly by a third party.If you remember at the time IM congratulated the board for funding CK's return.So it wasnt paltry amounts that we are talking about as far as i understand.Many full time clubs were surprised at how we could almost outbid them for some players and yet now after GL's tragic passing we are being outbid by Alloa and Stranraer.....
