  1. Aye. They also said in last few days that they'd be in position to take Strain and Boyle from Hibs if Hibs chose to cash in. Worth bearing in mind that Twitter rumours were also rife that Gogic had signed for them two years ago before we did, that Michael O'Neill was the next Aberdeen manager and Blair Spittal had signed a PCA with us. Get the feeling they have plenty of supporters who are a bit delusional but if they were to sign on of our out of contract players, Gogic would probsbly be most likely as they will throw money they apparently don't have at players to avoid a repeat of their last time up.
  2. GK- Carson LB - Waters RB - Paul McGinn CB - Shaughnessy CB - Gallagher LM - McGrath RM - Henderson CM - Kwon (technically has returned to Celtic due to injury) CM - Magennis ST - Shankland ST - Main A real mixed bag with Calum fucking Waters being a proper low point. If it was active players not in Scottish football, we'd be challenging for the league though the defence isn't amazing. GK - Vaclav Hladky LB - Hayden Coulsen RB - Akin Famewo CB - Sean McLoughlin CB - Alfie Jones LM - Isak Thorvaldsson RM - Lewis Morgan CM - John McGinn CM - Kenny McLean ST - Ross Stewart ST - Anders Dreyer
  3. Oh dear. I clearly never said that. What I did say was pretty accurately summarised by @Torfasonso thank you to him for saving me the pain of having to rationalise my thought process once again.
  4. Thing is, if we do win those two games at home, there is a very outside but potentially real chance that we head to Parkhead on the last day of the season needing a result to overhaul Killie. Still a lot of variables before that scenario, though.
  5. He's the natural replacement in terms of matchday squad for Flynn. Inexpensive, and probably not expecting a massive amount of minutes, at least not next season.
  6. Taylor for me will definitely be in and around matchday squads next season on the regular. Sutherland too if we mange to keep hold. Kieran can't seem to get too much of a run and is still only 19. Perhaps another loan next season.
  7. Those of us who are of a certain age (ie under 45) generally have always talked about Tromso, Elfsborg, Feyenoord, Slavia Prague, Mechlen, St Ettiene and yes, even the H word with almost hushed tones of reverence. A generation that we were just a bawhair too late for. Stories of trips to places that those of us who went through our formative years supporting the club weaned on a Wednesday night in Brechin or an end of season 4-0 skelping off of Alloa, could only dream of as they felt like the stuff of pure fantasy compared to our St. Mirren supporting experience. That was the sort of stuff that happened to other clubs, not us. Not the St. Mirren of the mid to late 90s we supported. A generation of supporters who regarded trips in the early 2000s to places like Pittodrie and Tynecastle as total luxuries as we'd not grown up supporting a St. Mirren that played at these grounds. A St. Mirren where going to these places was taken as the norm rather than novelty. The fact that we are so, SO close to finally adding our own experiences to the ones that guys now in their late 50s, early 60s got to do as young men feels almost surreal. I get that other teams clubs are like 'pffft, Europe, been there done that' but there have been times, decades long spells that European football wasn't so much a pipedream as it was simply something that just could never be achieved. I have said before that seeing us there just once will be enough and I stand by that. Of course I want us in Europe on a regular basis but if you'd told me in the days of going to Stirling Albion having to win to essentially not go part time that we'd just get one crack at Europe in my life, given the utter shite we were always finding ourselves in, I'd have happily accepted.
  8. Was interesting that Dundee had an unwavering determination to play the ball out from the back at goal kicks today, particularly in the first half. Especially as they looked so uncomfortable doing so because of the height and intensity of our press. The few times they did try and shell it in the first half, Gogic ate it up. As poor as they were, a lot of their errors were forced upon by us playing so high and so fast. Olusanya is an absolute nightmare to defend against and he never, ever lets up. It's some turnaround in the guy in one season considering he had most of our support laughing at him when he came on vs Hearts in late 2022 due to how completely lost he looked and ended up punted to Arbroath off the back of it, where he also looked lost. Now, if he's not anywhere in the squad you'd be genuinely concerned.
  9. Robinson said post match that everyone he wants to stay has an offer on the table and some have said they won't re-sign. I feel Gogic is the one that's most up in the air and not settled one way or the other. He was ridiculously good today.
  10. He gave Hemming a full on bollocking for giving his shirt to a child in the crowd post match. Zach gave him verbals fully back, though. The guy was an overzealous dick who nearly had a fit at Hemming because after he jumped over to hand the shirt over, a couple of supporters approached him for....brace yourself for this....a selfie.
  11. If we finish 5th, the first game is played in the same week as if we finish 4th as we'd play in Europa League rather than conference league if we were 4th. The difference is if we finish 4th, we are guaranteed another tie if we lose as we'd drop into the conference league which would then be during term time.
  12. Big part of the day was the fact that after an hour, we needed to freshen the side up and we had someone of the quality of Baccus to call on. I've looked at many many St. Mirren benches down the years and been dismayed at what we had to call on. Being able to introduce a boy with the quality of Baccus was brilliant. We're going to miss him.
  13. The Killie game is one where if we win, we're looking at being 3 behind with two to play. It would be great to be in a situation we head to Parkhead on last day with an outside of reeling Kilmarnock in but we have our work cut out and need bit of fortune elsewhere to get into that situation.
  14. Shameful levels of graciousness in this thread. Swithering between pleasantly surprised and disappointed really.
  15. I think we can all agree that St. Johnstone being emptied would be the ideal conclusion to a wonderful season.
  16. I'm absolutely burst physically and emotionally after that.
  17. In all honesty and without picking on Dundee specifically, it's nonsense that there isn't a cash gate announced well in advance. A few folk, esspecially the older generation, get irritated at the whole online ordering process. A pet hate of mine in the post covid world is that clubs now actively seem to make it a more complicated process to order tickets - Hibs being a prime example along with Kilmarnock who demand a valid email address and phone number for every person in the party whose ticket you order, leading me to have to enter my details repeatedly to just push through the system. There should always be an option as standard to either walk up, place money down and walk in, or buy a ticket on site to walk in rather than such a facility only being advertised 36 hours before kick off after negotiations. And before anyone starts, I also fully include St. Mirren in that as our process of attracting walk up fans isn't great either. Our ticket office hours are very limited and on matchday the ticket office is always queued out. I heard before that it was a police Scotland recommendation to only have ticketed turnstiles but surely it always makes sense to have at least one manned cash turnstile for those who wish to walk up. If Dundee had announced this at the start of the week, there almost certainly would have been extra folk who would have committed to going on the Saturday compared to on a Friday morning when many will have already made other plans. Again though, we are similarly awkward, a prime example being stupidly releasing away tickets for the Killie game in sections when Kilmarnock routinely sell the full away stand out even when they're pish, much less comfortably 4th in the table.
  18. There's definitely a shout of 2k plus. We've probably sold most of the allocation of tickets out and the announcement of a cash gate should add a few hundred more in the away end. So you're looking then at about two thirds or three quarters full?
  19. I love that through this entire saga, the club who like to big up their self-proclaimed virtues of 'class and dignity' have come out looking the most tinpot of all by asking for fees back over a postponed game. No idea how they thought this would be a good look on any level.
  20. Always been a fan of his and he the right attributes in that he's a good attacking full back who can play in 2 or 3 other positions if needed and a big unit of a guy. Perfect age at only 27/28 too. He's pretty much a stereotypical 'Robinson signing' on paper. He's also about 4x fitter than Strain and you know you're getting 90 minutes out of the lad.
  21. We do have an option on Elvis. Problem is though, he's not shown anything in either an attacking or defensive capacity that shows he's cut out. For a wing back not to look strong in either sense worries me and it's absolutely ludicrous the sheer number of times he lets his winger past him, there's no strength whatsoever in his tackling. I'd maybe keep him as backup but wouldn't be at all fussed if we let him move on.
  22. Absolutely not for me. Very talented player when he's on it but an injury prone passenger. He wouldn't fit in a Robinson team at all.
  23. Hemming isn't signing a PCA as he isn't out of contract for another two years at Boro. My preference is that on the whole, he's done a good job - better than I expected him to - but I don't like a first choice keeper being a loan deal and I don't think we should be sinking a lot of money into signing him permanently. He's done a good job but his ability with crosses gives me the absolute fear. I think if we're going to invest in a permanent goalie there's going to be better out there than Zach though I wouldn't be devastated if we reached an arrangement with Boro that saw him coming in full time with a low or no fee required. Strain and Baccus are 100% gone. Robinson said as much without naming them specifically yesterday when he said he has players who have already indicated they won't be extending their deals and you can't imagine he's talking about Dunne or Grieve in that context. You could potentially add Gogic to that list too. We will most certainly bring in 2 centre halves to replace the two (Dunne and Gogic) likely to leave and two CMs to replace the three (Baccus, Kwon and Flynn) that will depart. I'd imagine Fraser Taylor will take Flynn's place in the squad. Replace an old guy in the middle with limited first team minutes with a young guy in the middle who is now ready for some first team minutes when needed and relatively low wage to boot.
  24. A fair summary, we can all but put it to bed with a win tomorrow. A loss wouldn't settle anything though I honestly feel it would be disastrous mentally for us. But with a point in it and three games to go, it would still be all to play for though Dundee would have that massive psychological edge on us.
  25. It's not just the fact that incorrect decisions are made. You will always have debate and interpretation of incidents leading to some degree of inconsistency but it's the almost farcical manner of the ones they get wrong. Aside from the red card and failed appeal described above, the handball at County which the SFA plainly admitted they totally missed because they were looking directly at the incident but never saw it as they were looking for a shirt pull and the double hit for the penalty vs Aberdeen were both comically bad.
