And we have a little more clarity with just two matches to go...

With the win over Ayr, DU have a point total that Raith can only match, and a 36 goal lead...it would unmatched be insanity if they lost it now.

So, DU have won the league, and Raith are second.

Partick and Airdrie round out the playoff spots, with Partick very likely to take third due to a 3 point and 10 goal lead.

So that leaves the relegation playoff spot, because Arbroath are already confirmed as through the trapdoor.

Morton are safe, just. Dunfermline are effectively safe and Ayr are almost as secure.

That leaves ICT and Queen's Park fighting it out...ICT with the slight advantage, but the run in is perhaps slightly in Queen's Parks favor. It will be very interesting to see how teams approach these last few matches, as despite being either secure or pretty secure, 5 versus 7 is worth about £45k.

And that concludes today's League Table for Dummies chapter.

I would have thought that was the case, which makes it even more puzzling why the medical team strolled along the touchline as if they were on a leisurely stroll in the park, at which time the poor guy was out cold on the ground.

Hope he was ok and made a full recovery.

I asked my son about this. He's just completed his training as a St Andrews volunteer first aider. The main reason why medical staff don't run is that it causes an adrenaline rush which can impair reasoning and judgement.

I know the weather has been crap and we're below a canal basin but as said there's no groundsharing this year.

Also the womens, reserve and youth teams don't play on it (one women's game before Christmas apart), we don't train on it, and we went from 6th Jan to 10th Feb without a game on it yet it turned into a bog.

Can't even blame Gerry Britton anymore, f**k sake.

As for the game I have no confidence in us keeping out set pieces for 90 minutes so Morton especially with the long throws is not a good matchup, plus our keepers are selling a goal a game so we'll likely need to score 3 to win.

Also shown up in the last couple of weeks that not getting some kind of cover on the wing in January was an error, we've been lucky that Lawless and Fitzpatrick have been fit and firing for most of the season but they were both rubbish on Tuesday and Lawless hasn't been great for a few games now. The only replacements are strikers or central midfielders stuck out of position.

Maybe we could put one of our keepers on the wing. They must be good at something.

I definitely don't see this being straightforward, maybe the announcement today gives the Raith players a kick up the arse. I'd be very surprised if we're home and hosed with ten minutes or more to go.

We need a strong performance tonight. Not just to get to the play offs but as a signal of intent for play off ties. Nobody should need a kick up the arse once they make it to the play offs but so often we've been woeful in them.

I suspect, though, that this evening will play out as you suggest.
