I definitely don't see this being straightforward, maybe the announcement today gives the Raith players a kick up the arse. I'd be very surprised if we're home and hosed with ten minutes or more to go.

We need a strong performance tonight. Not just to get to the play offs but as a signal of intent for play off ties. Nobody should need a kick up the arse once they make it to the play offs but so often we've been woeful in them.

I suspect, though, that this evening will play out as you suggest.

That’s it down to 2 if my maths is right.

Dundee are top on 59. Inverness on 55 have played a game more so can only reach 58.

Partick are on 53 but because Queen’s Park and Dundee play each other on the final day, one of them is guaranteed to reach at least 60.

Correct. Worrying that it's taken an hour to work that out tbh.

Is Archie really faced with disdain in our support?

Speaking personally, I still have a lot of respect for Archibald for what he did for this club, both as a player and as a manager. He should have probably walked/been sacked before he was during his stint as manager, but for the majority of his 5+ years he was really good in the dugout. Most people I speak to feel the same.

Britton and Rough's legacies at the club aren't remotely comparable to Archie's, imo. Britton was a legend, but there's only so long you can make a mess of things in completely different ways before you become intolerable. A shite performance as a manager can be forgiven; subsequently turning the club into a shambles off the pitch and continually getting promoted for it, before latching yourself onto the despicable Jacqui Low despite the majority of the fanbase's open disdain for her really wasn't a great look for him. Alan Rough is an entirely different one again, in that he doesn't really give a shit about Partick Thistle and we've just been a vehicle for him to stay relevant over the past couple of decades.

If Kris Doolan goes in either the Britton or Roughie direction in the next 20 years, then maybe that will tarnish his reputation, but I'd be willing to go out on a limb and suggest that he's nothing like either of those types of character.

Not necessarily. Depends what "one year rolling contracts" means? Some people would have it that it means every single day when you wake up you have 365 more days of employment but that's a fairly odd way of doing things as it effectively just means you're committed to paying a year's salary to anyone you sack. It more likely means that there's an annual renewal date (say June 1st) where it becomes a new one year deal unless terminated by whatever termination clauses there are before then.

In any event, even a 365 days contract probably has a break clause which may provide for less than one year's notice on dismissal.

    I hope you're right!

If we’re still paying them full wages (via them being on ‘gardening leave’) I don’t really understand why if our only replacement for the foreseeable is the legend but inexperienced Kris Doolan, we didn’t just keep McCall & Co til the end of the season. The Doolan thing is a massive gamble that I’d say is extremely unlikely to result in promotion (despite the club maintaining that as the aim for the season). Doolan and McDonald surely have commitments to the academy also that need fulfilling eventually.

I don't know if they are on Gardening Leave and I wish the club would make the situation clear. If it is true then it means that there is something more vital to spend the Ibrox money on than paying off the failed management team. That is alarming. As is the fact that we are replacing a manager who has 901 games under his belt with one who has managed 0 professional games.

Looks like a bit of a mess. Big budget that you couldn't afford and a management team who failed to do anything with it.

Waited until you got the funds from the Ibrox game to pay McCall etc off and now you have to go with an interim manager because you can't afford a new management team this season.

It is a mess. It's by no means clear whether the Ibrox funds have been used to pay the triumvirate off. Two carefully worded statements have stated that they have been 'relieved of their first team duties'.

    Highlights below.

Shows the penalty incident clearly and shows it was the right decision.

We learned that you can't be wasting so many chances and get away with it, especially to a side in the league above. We also had plenty of warnings about allowing Partick to shoot from just outside the box and ultimately they equalised that way.

Didn't realise at the time how bad Hamilton's miss was! Yikes.

Oh aye, get the ball balls/girls trained better! Quite a few times there were two balls on the pitch yesterday.

Free kick would have been the right decision. The lad did well to dive into the box to gain an advantage.

This is a good gauge of things, good to see Thistle 10th ... morton at 17th seems fair also

Basing this table on points per game (assuming table is adjusted to 3 points for a win), Thistle are 11th and Morton 21st. Morton fans will be pleased to know that St Mirren drop to 20th, just 0.0027477 points per game above them. Should St Mirren lose their next 3 games and Morton win their next 2, St Mirren would drop below them.

Has anyone had an reply or even just an acknowledgement from the club after contacting them about passing your details to the Trust?

I appreciate it's only Monday afternoon and they sent the email out last thing on Friday but considering the deadline they set is Wednesday I thought they should be on the ball with confirming your details won't be passed on.

I emailed Mr Britton and received a reply that day.

I mean, if only the £20million striker they had on the bench came on and did something...

In all seriousness, Gio is a very likeable character who may well have a top career in management and the knuckledragging mouthbreathers will be calling for his head - but it's the utter shitebags in the Rangers squad they should be aiming their anger at. Doesn't matter if you have a group of technically superior players on the park but if they can't match the fight and spirit the opposing team sitting in has, yer fucked.

That's enough of that. GIRUY bigotted twats.

Eloquently expressed. Think I can get on board with that.

I don't often go to away games but bought a ticket for the game at Ayr today. I was less than pleased that as a football fan, I was in a group exclusively chosen for compulsory mourning.  It's probably unlikely that it will suit me to go to this game when it is re-arranged.

The decision for the absurd cancellation of all games in Scotland today was made by the Scottish Football Authorities. It will surprise nobody that Doncaster and his cohorts adopted a craven approach of appeasement and disregard for supporters' interests - they have history of this with broadcasters and the Old Firm.

Perhaps our PR Guru Chair and the Jags Trust guys have been lobbying the Authorities but they have been strangely silent. However I am a bit disappointed that TJF has not expressed a view. I am not a TJF member but am persuadable. However the main purpose of fan-based ownership is surely to speak up for the supporters...or do they agree that cancellation of games was appropriate?

This is not a decision that impacts solely on Partick Thistle. As it affects all football supporters nationally and throughout the UK, it should be national supporters associations that speak out.
Have the Scottish Football Supporters Association made a statement? The Football Supporters' Association in England have and they have the clout to make it into the national papers. I'm not sure what impact a statement from PTFC or TJF would have.

There would have been a lot of pressure on the football authorities to postpone the games and they have obviously buckled.

I don’t agree with the decision and think a more poignant tribute would of been a minutes silence. Down south I think they are playing the national anthem at next game but given the political divide up here that would just cause issues. You just need to look at the farce at Tynecastle last night to see that.

Statement from The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport:

“There is no obligation to cancel or postpone events and sporting fixtures, or close entertainment venues during the National Mourning period. This is at the discretion of individual organisations.

“As a mark of respect, organisations might wish to consider cancelling or postponing events or closing venues on the day of the State Funeral. They are under no obligation to do so and this is entirely at the discretion of individual organisations.

“If sporting fixtures or events are planned for the day of the State Funeral, organisations may want to adjust the event timings so they do not clash with the timings of the funeral service and associated processions,” it adds.

“As a mark of respect, and in keeping with the tone of National Mourning, organisers may wish to hold a period of silence and/or play the National Anthem at the start of events or sporting fixtures, and players may wish to wear black armbands.”
