  1. Also just wanted to say I am buzzzzzzing for the game on Saturday. Hopefully a good turn out and get a few more bodies on the bench to give us a good chance of getting the win. 4/6 points from our two fixtures would be excellent and set us up great to go to Easter Road then EEP. 2/6 or 1/6 and it puts a lot of pressure on the game at EEP to prevent us playing catch up really early.

  2. Also pleased with that signing. Crucial depth and good pedigree at this level.

It’s a real shame but Mathews just doesn’t look like someone that can be relied upon to be fit. I see his contract is up at the end of the year and I would think that will be it for him at the Rovers unless he is fit and playing for a consistent period. We all get frustrated by the injuries we have - but it becomes self-inflicted if you extend players who have long injury records. A real shame as I like Rossco and want him to do well. But I don’t think we can gamble on his fitness again unless he goes 6 months fit as a fiddle.

Think that leaves a ‘proper striker’ loan (one of those hit or miss gambles) and a loan at full back to go. But I’d imagine these will be a few weeks away once Scottish Premiership and english lower league squads are more finalised.

Hibs could be out of Europe by the end of the week could they not if they lose to that Andorra team again?

Aye, this is true. But very unlikely they will be out this round - would expect a home win on Thursday. If the unlikely happened, I do wonder if the clubs would try and shift the game. I suppose that would depend on whether Hibs start selling anything (tickets, hospitality etc. before this Friday).

I’ll be hoping Hibs do shit the bed though on Thursday as 1. It opens this slim possibility but 2. Mostly, it would be funny as f**k.

  4. Not as polished as I’d like it but on my iPhone. Looking at the groups and second places:

Stirling on 7 - away at st Johnston. - we finish above Stirling if saints win or win on pens.

Partick v Spartans - both on 6 so guaranteed to be above.

Hamilton and livi both look set to win and get to 10 and 11 points. 1 runner up likely here. Unless Hamilton lose to cove or lose on pens AND we win by 2 clear goals.

Morton home to Edinburgh city so look set to win easy and get to 9 (and currently 2 goals better already). 1 runner up here.

Dundee can get to 9 in second. Home to Inverness on Sunday. Same GD as we are (+2), so it who scores more if they win.

East fife on 7. Away to Motherwell. ‘Well win or pens win and we are above them.

Forfar currently on 9 (+4) st Mirren on 6. Game is st mirren v Forfar. If st Mirren don’t win, we are good. If st Mirren win by 2, we are good.

so that means that we need the big favourites to win in a few places and need an upset, likely at Hamilton OR to outscore Dundee. Going to be very close

Travel to Annan - trains fucked unless strike action called off.

Last paragraph on this update about the reduced timetable:

‘The significantly reduced timetable on 20, 22 and 29 July will mean North Wales, Shrewsbury, Blackpool, Stoke-on-Trent, Macclesfield and Edinburgh have no Avanti West Coast services.’

    Link: https://www.avantiwestcoast.co.uk/travel-information/strike

Edit to add: trains do run down the west coast from Glasgow central direct to Annan. But typically for the whole of July all trains between central and Kilmarnock are replacement bus! (Further edit to add: some of the replacements are direct 40m services - others go round the stops between central and killie).

I know folk will be doing there own homework but just in case the above from me let folk think that the bus fuckery between Central and Kilmarnock means trains all the way are not an option at all.

It possible to use the train up and down starting in Kirkcaldy/Edinburgh. It’s just a b*****d. It’s Edinburgh to Queen Street, walk to central (10 mins max) Central to Carlisle, Carlisle to Annan.

p.s. This doesn’t apply this time but just FYI in case it’s helpful for folks. If you use the scotrail app, it always tells you to use a bus between Queen street and central - which is fucking mental. It also means that it buys in about 45 mins for you to travel from queen street to central - you need 10-15 mins. So if ever having to change between queen street and central it’s always worth doing a search from central to your destination, as you can usually get a quicker train that the app tells you as your ‘planned journey’.

From Rovers Twitter. 2000 home end tickets sold, 1200 away end.

Probably get somewhere between 3500-4000 overall then. TV money means that we in effect have a much higher ‘crowd’ of (fag packet calculations) around 6500. Excellent for a league cup group game in July!

And to be honest 3500-4000 is not bad considering. Out of our group of 6 season ticket holders only 2 can make it: 3 are on holiday and 1 is ill. I imagine most groups (home and away) will be seeing a fair few drop offs due to holidays etc.

The injury thing is just something I’m having to block out. Thinking about it genuinely is infuriating and disappointing in equal measure.

Hopefully we can sneak a win on Saturday, and then coast through the games against Albion and Annan. Still (thankfully!) a full 3 weeks from league action.

  8. For me we need 2 defenders minimum (one a starting centre half) and a central midfielder. Having just Brown and Mathews to play the classic/deep CM role is far too light for the season.

Murray will know this, and it may be these players are loans rather than signings. So we may be light going through July and August. For that reason, Brown being injured is a massive pain.

  9. Aye get the subway to town mate and there will be loads of places. The Ark would be my best shout as well.

Also just a note on how shite it is that Scotland are not on free to air for the people that live here in. Absolutely shite, and should be available to everyone in the country to watch - not on whether you can afford a subscription or have the money/ability to visit a pub.

  10. That was one of the worst in stadium ‘build ups’ for absolutely sidelining the fans and any organic atmosphere.

The music was still pumping for a few seconds kick off for f**k sake!

Every single day I’m more and more grateful I support a shite team and football is still actually just football.
