How do you manage to keep the same squads for the game

Is the assumption that no promotion to league 2 then, Brechin safe. Kelty and  Brora are hoping for reconstruction, which isn't going to happen

If we were able to hold a play-off (or any other game of football) safely then we wouldn't have this problem of deciding the season early in the first place.

Nobody suggesting this needs to be played now, but is there an intention to play one. If not i suspect that Kelty will remain in LL next season

  3. Sorry to hear about big Kieran.

Big game today and 3 points for rose would make it difficult for EK to make ground back up.

Also a big welcome back to NDP to EK keeper Aldo Martin, who last visited with Dumbarton.....

Think you're splitting hairs on my list's terminology. Ultimately their senior team has folded, closed-down, suspended, gone into hibernation whatever... but they hope to restart for 2020-21.

There is actually no such thing as abeyance or non-playing membership in the rulebook, IIRC. However, as with Duns previously, perfectly reasonable for the EOS board to rubberstamp them remaining as non-voting members for 12 months and waive obligations to participate in competitions.

Lets hope it ends differently to Duns, and indeed Kelso, who both initially hoped to return but were ultimately unable. Prospect of no adult football team in Eyemouth is a depressing thought. You've to go back a long way but Selkirk successfully returned after 2 seasons out of the game in 1986.

Hj did this have a bearing on their shafting by stirling albion ??

Play another record FFS, you seem to raise this every other day. Have you found that list of grants yet that everyone can apply for by ticking a box, or the clubs that exist on grants?

Finishing behind Broxburn really did affect you.

I can fully appreciate teams like Broxburn getting these facilities which are widely used and available to wider community, but the midlothian teams mentioned are grass pitches, which  are infrequently used and not available to be used by public, while now looking to close down a widely  used 3g facility.

What about them? You're making it seem like a bad thing that clubs who lease grounds have benefited from Councils improving their asset. Also, you imply that these clubs aren't self sufficient?

There's a lot of sympathy out there for Bonnyrigg's position, don't go ruining it by lashing out other clubs for no reason.

Point being made is that council spunked huge sums of money on floodlights  at these grounds which are for the benefit of the teams involved- not the wider community. Yet midlothian council is looking to shut 3g at poltonhall as it cant afford to replace the surface, Poltonhall is used by community, not like the other grounds mentioned.

You mean sometime after they got a big windfall like a cup tie against one of the biggest supported teams in the country?

The ground improvements at ndp in the last few years have been very impressive. A new changing facility, corporate lounge, terracing amongst many others. Well in excess of 100k spent, if floodlights  had  been a requirement before application had started, they would have been installed by now.

I also look at list of teams who have floodlights and notice most have had them paid for by local authority (wee rose an obvious exception) unfortunately as Rose own the ground, this isnt an option

There are 13 clubs in the East of Scotland league and around 60 in the East Region Juniors. The Juniors have an established league format, instead of clubs leaving the Juniors the East of Scotland league could be added to the junior format and all junior clubs offered senior status.Promotion from the Super league to the lowland league should take place and a decision as to which tier the present East of Scotland league should take. It seems to me that at present the dog is wagging the tail

Problem is that juniors are looking to join the seniors pyramid, not the other way round.

There seems to be a few major stumbling blocks for summer football.

I don't move my lawn between October and March because the grass doesn't grow. Pitches need work on them and need to be re-seeded. A full-time team can buy in a new surface - I would imagine that's beyond the bank balance of most councils and Junior clubs beyond seeing to the goalmouths. Parks being played on through the summer will not be able to recover. Councils love to shut their parks too...

The 'predictable wet weather' season doesn't exist here - games can be off at any time - there have been August wipeouts in the past. Without floodlights, any rearranged games cannot be played midweek in March and mid September onwards, which leaves mid April to late August as the window for them.

Clubs will be faced with fielding weakened teams in school holidays - currently it only affects the very start of the season and there are usually a host of trialists to pad line-ups out for the waste of time Sectional etc, not sure how much more of an impact it has in East league games. In a summer season, those missing players would be missing key games midway through the season - perhaps a big Junior Cup tie - or do we bar big cup ties from the holiday season...?!

We're looking for 30 league matchdays in East and West for next season. A season starting 1st saturday in March has 35 saturdays until the end of October. But what about cup ties? You're probably wanting to have the Junior Cup at weekends, so lets take 6 of those. Immediately, without postponements you're needing midweek dates to fit the fixtures in and that's without any other knock out cups considered.

If the season is shortened from the present June-??? (I guess when fixtures stop, wages stop, where possible) to March-Nov, are player contracts also altered so as to reduce requirements to pay them?

Playing  football every week on grass that isn't growing isn't  a great help for the pitch.

There are 4 months of the year where it is possible to make use of light nights for midweek fixtures and we don't play in 2 of them.

Make use of teams with floodlights- Bonnyrigg late last season had a fixture pile up, were still to play Penicuik, Broxburn and Kelty away from home, these games could have been played midweek under lights from feb- mid april. The former 2 were played midweek april- may.

Bonnyrigg finished last season on 10th june. Preseason started the 1st July. Players got 3 weeks off. Reality is players are taking holidays throughout the season and teams have to cope with that. I would think most people take more than just a summer holiday now as well.

A season starting  1st march and finishing end of October would have 35 Saturdays and 18 potential midweeks-   Last season Bonnyrigg played  15 midweek games

I would agree that summer football is not ideal. The existing set up of playing near 11 months of the year needs looking at. Any options need consideration.

Rumours and I must stress that word, “rumours” Iv heard recently -

-Proposals as regards to SJFA clubs going in at LL level or on par with tier 6 will be thrown in the sea without much debate.

-If there was enough West clubs Junior or Ams came forward to join tier 6 then EOS and SOS could be willing to help run and start a new WOS League at tier 6 depending on the interest.

-Junior clubs participation in senior Scottish Cup could be stopped. Money going out this comp to unlicensed Junior clubs isn’t looked upon too well just now by SPFL Clubs.

-The Amatuer association could be invited to come in at tier 7 and filter their regional leagues in below, where that would leave the SJFA clubs I don’t know.

At a rough guess, this sounds like an eos meeting. No word on who is looking to join?

Which is strange as the process only requires that the club must be licensed and that you win a play-off to go up - I can't see any other barriers.

So is it reasonable to assume that if this can be clarified then Bonnyrigg would reconsider the move?

I believe there are moves towards 2 promotion places being made available starting from next season.

I think you are reading too much into this statement.  When Bonnyrigg were looking to get their licence approx. 18 months ago, the thinking was that they would be able to stay in the juniors set-up, similar to Lithgae.  Moving to eos wasn't on the cards regardless of promotion to lowland league or not.
