I think part of the problem here is that in my view we could easily do with another 5 or 6 players, there are issues all over the pitch. Rooney has been poor this season for example but that's almost forgotten about due to the other areas of the team needing strengthened. I'd like a proper central midfielder (ideally two) that can get on the ball and dictate play a bit but that's only going to work if he has options to pass it to that are not the players we have at the moment. If this was a summer window looking at what we'd done then would feel relatively upbeat but it's not, we need points immediately and it all just feels kind of desperate and too late.

Wright was pure class, I'd agree he was better than Dodds in his pomp. That goal Wright scored at Tannadice on the turn was sensational.

We might well have done but my memory of it is that things didn't really click with the three up front and we ended up lucky to get a point thanks to Torfason who at that point think everyone just assumed would no longer be involved. £100k paid for him!!

That would be my recollection on Wright as well @Radford Can remember there being much anticipation before a midweek evening game at Starks Park as Dodds, Wright and Ferguson all started. We were poor though and went one down, with late Torfason equaliser (sure it was a penalty). Hibs at home was the Saturday and think both Dodds and Wright scored, it was all looking very positive. Then injury struck and ultimately survival hopes, we would have stayed up comfortably with that strike pairing (and Ferguson too if required).

Not to go all Random Guy and pollute your thread Dundee fans but I don't think Ambrose was actually too bad for us. He had one of his classic error strewn catastrophes at home to Livingston but was more or less fine other than that. Certainly not our worst performing defender this season in my opinion. Takes a lot of risks as everyone will knows but we've got worse since he disappeared from the team. Obviously a variety of reasons for that though. Thank you.

Cleary is right sided is he not? Booth can’t be considered a viable left sided centre back option, regardless of how poor McCart has been. Doesn’t read like Gallacher can play there either.

We've signed loads of average players over the years, of course we have. Some turn out better than expected., others worse. Rarely have we signed a player though that leads you to fundamentally question the competence of the manager and the direction the club is going in as this one does. The initial signing was understandable at the time, Crawford has a pedigree in the league, we needed players etc, it was arguably worth having a look at him on a short term deal. It's been clear for some time that it's not worked, the manager not seeing that, or refusing to see it, is massively concerning. We've no time to muck about here, we are going down with a whimper as it stands. Being somewhat upset about that after the position we ended last season is perfectly reasonable, regardless of whether we we shite in the 80s.

Cummings is no Billy Dodds but it would be pretty tinpot to sell your striker to a relegation (not a derby) rival. Who would be Grant McMartin in this scenario, Christie Elliott? Jeezo.
