  1. That’s not a very good looking team imo. There’s question marks in every position. The fact we are happy to have James Brown as our right back says a lot to be honest. He’s fine as a squad filler type, you need those, but he shouldn’t be starting. He would be in our best eleven as it stands though and don’t imagine it’s a position we’ll be strengthening this window given all the other issues to address.

Trying to think of how we will line up game one v Hearts.

This is what I have at the moment:

                                 Sinclair

    Brown   Gordon     Considine    Gallagher

    Wright   McGowan      Phillips          Carey

                          Macpherson

                               May

I don't like the idea of Cammy being further up but, at the same time, it shows the difference in our team when we get some quality back. This has not factored any new signings so will hopefully rejig it a little.

The fact we are resigned to having Cameron Macpherson as a member of our squad is depressing enough for me, lets not add to that by playing him in an attacking midfield role.  Thank you.

  3. Hallberg has had long enough, we shouldn't be waiting around to see if he is going to sign or not.  I quite like him when he is played in the right position but he is far from indispensable.  Move on and shape the squad without him.

Clark having a setback, and with understandable doubts about Kane's continued recovery, means we look light up front again.  Clark, Kane & May all up to speed seems fine as the options but ideally we need somebody else I think.  Unfortunately there are a number of other priority areas needing addressed, Hallberg's position is not one of those if we are serious about continuing to play Ballantyne and to give Wee Max a chance.  Does Ferguson not also play in that area?  Plenty of options, albeit untested at the top level.

  4. The spectre of Crawford hanging about the place contributing nothing just provides a constant, stark reminder of the severe mismanagement of the squad we endured under Davidson.  I know money comes into it but to me just pay him off and get him out the building.  Lets show that we are serious about doing things properly from now on.  I can't watch another second of him dancing next to an opposing midfielder rather than tackling him or letting his man run off him all the time.  He's not alone in players I'd get rid of but we'd have very few left if we were properly brutal about it.  I'm not quite at the panic stage yet but the lack of activity over the summer has not offered any reassurance about anything.

Genuinely sad it's the end of Murray.

The decline was evident for everyone to see last season, no doubt about that but he's given absolutely everything for Saints evidently at the detriment of his own fitness. We cannot ask anymore than that.

I hope he gets a moment on the pitch on Saturday where he can rightfully receive the thanks he deserves. While I know he'll get that testimonial during a proper fixture is deserved as well.

Decline was evident last season but he pulled one further performance out the bag when it was needed in the home play off match against ICT. Lot of moments in that game but he was man of the match no question. Real end of era feel to him going, quite a unique style of player and not one we've ever been able to properly replace (or will do so). Opposition fans seem to really hate him too which is massive plus point in his favour. Cheers Muzz, been a pleasure.

Wasnt this why Robertson, then Flaherty, were hired?

To bridge the gap between the Browns and new owners?

Obviously huge question marks over Flahertys ability to actually manage it.

He at least has previous experience of doing it so don't think this will be an issue at all.  He is ideally qualified to lead a top flight Scottish football club.  Roddy can back him up where required.

If things on the pitch are not bad enough then have a look off it.  Grim.
