  1. Last run tonight before sunday. A gentle 6 and a wee bit km in about 34mins. Absolutely battering down the whole time which wasnt very enjoyable. Both knees were actually a bit sore during it - I'm hoping down to the dampness over the last couple of days. Anyone else get this?
  2. doing Neil McCover half rather than GSR. Looks like a tough-ish course so just planning on under 2 hrs.
  3. Weather looking good for tomorrow, so a long run tomorrow morning methinks. 13 miles ish.I'll count that as the training for the Neil McCover next sunday.
  4. Ive not really managed any long training runs before the half in a week and a bit, but done loads of 10s amongst other runs so should be fine. will keep doing that till the thursday before. Tollcross Parkrun (Cheap unashamed plug) this saturday.
  5. Killer old son. At least you gritted your teeth and completed it. Well Done Jack.
  6. Yeah Woodhead park in Kirky. About 1km (or slightly more) from Lenzie station. Run starts at 9am which is a fairly early IMO. It says a lot about the field when their prize giving is 'shortly after 11' !
  7. the neil mccover half is the same day. a much quiter affair with a fast field, Im doing it and expect to be in the last 10/20% of runners
  8. I'm doing it. One of my favourites - pretty flat apart from the hill described by diamonds at about 4k, but its not a long or steep one at all. A PB potential one. Generally well organised, albeit getting busier year on year.
  9. You done well at that if that's your prep for the race, bishy. the course record fell by a country mile yesterday. Amazing the conditions yesterday compared to today. I done the Stirling 10 and was decidedly average - wore my waterproof but wished I hadnt after 5 minutes in - despite the high wind and rain it wasnt actually that cold. I was soaked and roasting! Nothing like a right good soaking to tear yer nipples to bits on a run. Ouch.
  10. Sorry to hear that. you were probably right to skip it though, as youd have been pissed off at your performance. It was pretty windy and I ended up getting called into work yesterday evening and didnt get home till 4am this morning, so was shattered. Ran out of steam half way in. reckon I was 51.40ish. Grr.
  11. Sounds like me last week. feckin colds. grrr. Looks like it will be cool and windy for the bella on sunday. cant wait.
  12. I start off by admitting to having a cold, an eye infection and hating hot and sunny weather...so lets just say my experience at the Paisley 10k wasnt a good one and I was uber grumpy. Under normal circumstances I might have enjoyed it but the above plus lots of wee organisational niggles on the day made it rubbish. It was a pretty poorly organised event IMO. Anyone else think so or an I just a crabbit auld git?
  13. Paisley 10K pack arrived today. Just as a cold kicks in. Meh. Went out tonight anyway and it wasnt so bad, so hopefully I'll shake it off before sunday.
  14. Was a lot cooler and pretty rainy this morning at Tollcross Parkrun, but still made for a good run. Just good not to be running in the high temperatures. Another PB this week (for Tollcross), Sllightly tempered by the fact there was a kid just in front of me at the end and I couldnt bring myself to overtake him in the last 30 metres! I'm too soft.
  15. Managed my first lap round Strathclyde park (tiny bit shy of 6k) in under half an hour in 12 years -i was 29 the last time well happy with that, especially as it was pretty hot - 22 according to the car thermometer. Cant wait till its a bit cooler - can see me dropping off another minute or two. Dundonald 10k wednesday then tollcross parkrun saturday. Enjoying seeing the times come down.
  16. Yikes. Been doing too much in this heat and humidity this week and I'm utterly knackered. Had various runs the last few days and hit parkrun this morning and totally crashed at it. Worst.time.ever. I really cant handle heat at all. I find my performance really struggles in heat big time. how is everyone else?
  17. Aye, I'm planning on doing that as well - got quite a programme planned before the october half marathons. Wouldnt dream of doing a longer distance before september due to the heat mentalness potential. In as much as I love warm sunny weather I just cant run in it and find running in the freezing cold quite easy.
  18. Aye the heat is a killer and a lot of folk are off on hols. I was out thursday night and could barely get over 3k before I had to stop for a walk. Had to stop 3 times all in all. 28 degrees when I started and 27 by the time I eventually heaved my fat arse round the run. Even at Parkrun we have numbers down a bit. Only in the 30s at Tollcross this week and last week.
  19. Anyone else at the Balfron 10K today? Quite a tough course. First 3K downhill with a good wind behind us. Great stuff....unfortunately its an out and back run. so last 3K were tough. Nice run though. Booked a space on the penicuik 10k a week on saturday. Looks like a beast. http://penicuikharriers.org.uk/10k-road-race/
  20. http://www.parkrun.org.uk/tollcross/ New Tollcross parkrun confirmed to start 4th May. Its a tough wee course.
  21. 51.27 for me today, which is almost 6 minutes better than my previous best. Really pleased with it. Sub 50.00 is definitely achievable this year. Which I'd be over the feckin moon about.
  22. I missed Saturday morning based 1 ) on the weather 2 ) being knackered from loads of runs 3 ) doing a long run sunday Glad I missed it but Sunday's run was also cancelled due to lying snow (which melted soon after it was cancelled!) so feeling guilty about a run free weekend.
  23. Half marathon today. Still a little over 2 hours, but still happy enough.
