For all we looked the better team for a large part of the match I can’t remember us testing the keeper even once. Twelve corners and none of them were remotely threatening. If you don’t score you’ll win nothing. As for Stenny they are an odd one. That’s three times we have played them and not once have they looked up to much. Yet they keep grinding out odd goal victories. A bit like us in the first half of last season. Big difference being that Stenny look as if they’ll keep it going and they have no one putting any pressure on them

Hope Rovers got good money for him. A proper club with a great stadium. Give me them any day over diddies like Bonnyrigg and Kelty.
What makes Albion rovers a proper club and Bonnyrigg not?

An interesting take, and I hope you're right. I'm not sure I'd be so optimistic though.
As you well know there is no point in going unless you are (blindly) optimistic

That will be the same Jackie Baillie who opposed the running down of the Vale hospital while her party were in charge of West Dunbartonshire, Holyrood and Westminster. Encouraging to have her on our side

I have no idea what our budget is but I’m struggling to see how it can be one of the better ones. Our owners put nothing in. Every other club will have directors who contribute. We have no shirt sponsors. Every other club does. Our crowds are not the best in the division. So if our budget is in line with our income how can we be one of the highest?

First words out his mouth “I thought we were very good”.
What planet does he live on?!
Watch this video on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/share/v/Uvmf7MaLyayRzRXj/?mibextid=KsPBc6
He thought Declan Byrne was excellent for 60 minutes?!
Stonewall pen and the ball two yards over the line?!
The wee things are just not going for us?!
He's absolutely batshit.
It did look like a penalty and it did look like the ball was over the line in real time

I suspect this shows that our subs coming on with 10-15 mins to go are actually weakening the team instead on providing fresh legs...there's no one on the bench who is anywhere near a game changer
Farrell’s substitutions tend to be the same or similar week after week. You could set your watch by some of them. And invariably they weaken the team

Correct, so a half-season ticket was £110 or £55 split between two, meaning you effectively could buy a ticket for £77. Loads of them will have done that. It's the only explanation, really.
If Rangers fans are stupid enough to pay £77 for a ticket I will happily take their money. However I'd be annoyed if existing season ticket holders missed out because of that

Coronet at top signifies a local authority arms IIRC but it doesn't seem to be those of Dumbarton, Dunbartonshire, Dundee, Forfarshire etc.*; indeed it looks quite generic. If uninscribed maybe some "badge competition" (i.e. 'friendly tournament')/5-aside contest/etc.
*that said: Dumbarton also won the important Scottish League Charity Cup in 1890-91, and the Greenock Charity Cup in 1889-90 and 1890-91, during period your ancestor was playing there - while Dundee won Dewar Shield (the Cup-Winners' Cup of Aberdeenshire, Forfarshire, Perthshire & Stirlingshire) in 1902-03 and 1904-05Yeah I’ve looked up all the possibilities. He played for Dumbarton Episcopalians before Dumbarton so could be that. But it is gold Has his name inscribed on the back as well as a hallmark. But maybe you got a gold medal for minor tournaments back then

It was the 10 teams who were in the Premier at the time.*
Celtic didn't play for some reason, so Airdrie were invited in their place to make up the 10. I presume they were top of the 1st when Celtic declined, so got 1st invite.
*Yes, Dumbarton were actually in the Premier in season 84/85, believe it or not.
And Sons were in it again the following season when we beat Manchester City 4-0!

The simple lesson there is just never get your hopes up
But that’s the whole point of supporting a club like Dumbarton

It looks like he was with Troon but I can't see how often (if at all) he played.
Doesn't look as if he's played this season or even been on the bench

I'm the exact same, although I'll get my tickets tomorrow.
I'd add as well. There's a 0.01 percent chance of us creating one of the greatest Scottish Cup shocks of all time. It's about as likely as winning the Euromillions. But it's still a chance. It's just 11 men against 11 men at the end of the day.
I didn't go to Oswestry because I didn't think it would be worth it. And I regret it to this day. If I missed us somehow managing to beat Rangers in a competitive game I'd be kicking myself for the rest of my life.
It's the hope that keeps us all going to games. Personally I just don't get the attitude of fans who say they won't go. You're going to support your team, surely they need it all the more when we could be outnumbered at a home game.

I used to go to with my old man to the wee newsagent, under Dumbarton East station on a Saturday evening to get the late paper with all the day's football results/reports.
The Evening Times pink I think it was.
Was that the one where the reports didn’t quite go to the end of the game?

Back in the 60s (and 70s) - as I recall it - every league game in Scotland was covered by a report in the Sunday Post. (And probably other papers.)
Not only that but there was always a decent write up in Mondays papers. As a young whippersnapper I kept a scrapbook of Dumbarton cuttings. We obviously weren’t one of the bigger teams but got good coverage in all the papers when we were in the old first division

There are games on in the top two divisions as, apart from Arbroath, that is their full time jobs.
Your doubt about many normal people working today is probably wrong. There will be many people working today certainly I know more people working today than those who aren't.
The idea of rearranging your game at Stranraer for tomorrow in such a short time frame was silly. Time to move on mate.
There are games on in the top two divisions because they know they will get crowds. We’ve had games in the lower divisions on 2nd January for forty odd years, ever since 1st January fell out of favour, and those games tend to get bigger crowds than the corresponding Saturday games.

I doubt many will be working. Today is a public holiday, that’s why there are games in the top two divisions. Seems odd that leagues one and two had no games last week or this week

Full card in the premier and championship tomorrow yet nothing in leagues one or two. Would it not have made sense to reschedule the Stranraer game for tomorrow?

I've just heard him say the budget is gone for goalkeepers and he'd like to add a centre back and wide player but that's probably dependent on how much profit we make from the Rangers game and/or if he can move folk on. A rather worrying listen if I'm honest, despite Stevie's talent of putting a positive spin on things.
How can the budget be gone for a goalkeeper but available for a wide player or centre back? Is it divided into different areas of the park?

Looking at the league table the remainder of the season could now become a slow grind.
Stenny could well motor further away, and fair play to them, and that would leave only the play-off places to contest. Spartans have surprised most people and I don't expect them to collapse. Peterhead and ourselves have been blighted by injury and inconsistency but unless Bonnyrigg go on a run, and they would need even more penalties for that, we should both have enough to secure a top four finish.
And then the lottery of play-offs. Edinburgh City are pretty nailed on to come straight down and it looks like our old pals Annan will be in the mix. None of it is very enticing and I expect the attendances and interest to now reflect that.
And a merry Christmas to you to
