  1. So, Sons insiders and other experts, I hear that Murray was interviewed today for the St Mirren job from a usually impeccable source but in these strange days of unfounded rumours and wild speculation, can anyone confirm or deny this?
  2. You can't just leave us with a comment like this.
  3. I seem to recall that we have had some full time players, within our part-time status over the years. I think Pat McCluskey worked on the Sons Pools at the time to take his time and income into full time equivalent. I also recall Murdo saying that he trained each afternoon at Dumbarton with some of the youngsters (may not have been full time but was returning in the afternoon for further training). Sometimes he was on his own and used to bounce the ball off the boundary wall to sharpen his reactions. I am sure there will have been more.
  4. Nice article. I have left a comment on the blog page.
  5. I'd still be happy enough with 8th. Although we are playing really well just now, injuries, suspensions, fatigue and loss of confidence after a few poor results could all still make an impact on the rest of the season. Anything above 8th is a bonus. Or am I being too pessimistic?
  6. If the issue is restricted only to parking in a cul de sac, surely it is no beyond even the whit of Dumbarton Council to think around that, such as closing Castle Road at Castlegreen Street, making the buses park on the Common and then either instigating a one way system or letting the traffic take case of itself, or similar.
  7. I see we have signed Michael Miller from Celtic on loan. Can play in defence or midfield.
  8. Hmmm. Dirty tricks methinks. Never forget that in the 40 years I have followed the Sons, this thread is the only thing that has ever worked!
  9. I think it is mutual - we both think we can take points off each other and benefits us both to have other part time clubs in the division.
  10. You cannot touch or change or renew this thread!! it is singularly responsible for our upturn in fortunes.
  11. Iwelumo said in an interview the other day that he went to St Johnstone on condition that he plays with Stevie May rather than replaces him. Of course, it is not his decision whether the club sells May or not but I assume he was given those assurances, at least until the end of the season.
  12. Aye, very sad for everyone who remembers him and were of that generation. Nobody who was there can ever forget that goal. I was discussing it this weekend with some of us who were at that game. We were 2-0 down, start of the second half and that started the comeback - we went on to win 5-2.
  13. He's only 20 for pete's sake - let's give the lad a chance. At such a young age I suspect he has not been signed as a first team regular. He has also played for the Scottish U17s and U19s so he must have something about him and something that can be brought on with good coaching. Whether Dumbarton is the right place for that is another matter.
  14. I was going to say this as well. I remember it well. Carlisle said afterwards that if Kenny had scored in that game they would have paid double to get him. I think he signed for £40,000 which was a decent but not spectacular amount, in those days.
  15. Hi SON shine,

I am in Surrey, near Reigate. Not exiled really, still got lots of family in Dumbarton, Renfrew and Glasgow.

Were you originally from Dumbarton, or from England?
