  1. Training for London was going good until last week. Tightness and soreness inmy right leg has stopped me from doing any running. Been to see a physio and also foam rollering in the hope that it'll ease off and allow me to get back out. 18 miles is the longest I've done at the moment. I'm meant to have done 20 this weekend then taper from there but that is looking unlikely now. If 18 is the my longest run, should that make a difference, if I rest for this week then try and get back out next albeit not doing long runs?
  2. First run in my new Brooks shoes today. Nice 5k around in 27 mins. Hard work continues towards the London Marathon in April. Also doing the great winter run in Edinburgh tomorrow.
  3. Done the Men's 10k in Edinburgh today. Really enjoyed it and also a good course. Done it in 49:22 shaving over and a half minutes off my 10k PB.
  4. Good into the London Marathon through the SSPCA. The Mrs does a lot of work with them so thought it was a good idea to raise money for them. Been running a lot since the summer and done a few races. Done the great Scottish half at the start of Oct and got the men's 10k in Edinburgh on Sunday. Hard work begins again in earnest for the running and fundraising.
  5. Round in 1:51:40 today. Really happy with that time. The run was a top experience and the atmosphere was brilliant. Enjoyable course too and a top day all round.
  6. Thanks for the info CR, looking forward to Sunday now, hope it's a good day. I haven't got a time in mind, I just want to go out and enjoy the route and the run. Good luck everyone who's taking part.
  7. I'm doing the half marathon next Sunday, so looking forward to that. Doing 10.5 tomorrow, then a few easy runs next week to get ready. It's my first time doing the GSR and was just wondering what the course is like?
  8. Went out for my first run last night after getting back after holiday. Was just a 5k but wanted to start easy before I build it up again before the half marathon. The only problem today, is that I've woken up with really sore tops of my feet. I've never had this feeling before and was just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what it could be? It's sore when I'm walking around at work, so hoping it isn't going to impact my running too much.
  9. I done my first park run on Saturday at Portobello. 24:54 so it's a time to improve on. I've recently done a couple of 10k's and finished both in just over 53 mins. I'm off on holiday for 2 weeks, but I'm training at the moment for the Great Scottish Run in October. I'm up to 6.5 miles in my training for that at the moment. Will me taking 2 weeks off affect my training for the run? Also should I just gradually build up the mileage again towards the race day? I've heard good things about the run too, so looking forward to it.
  10. I'm trying to get back into running again after being away on holiday for a month. Put a bit of weight on, so just trying to ease myself back into a decent training programme. I managed the Edinburgh marathon and was in good shape and didnt have any injuries. But since I have started again, I have been having problems with my left shin getting really tight and also the top of my left foot is really sore when I'm running. I also play basketball and I don't have any problems like this when I'm playing, it only happens when I'm out running. Has anyone got any idea or any tips about this? Once I get started and running again, it will be alright, but it's just trying to get over this initial hurdle.
  11. I just got back from Australia last week after my trip loved every minute of it. I was only in Sydney and Brisbane, but still found loads to do. Would recommend the jet boat around the harbour in Sydney, great views and its great fun. I also done the bridge climb, was about 250 Aus Dollars, but that was worth every penny. Darling Harbour is good, would also head to the various beaches near Sydney as well. Train and Bus travel is pretty cheap. Would also say head to Manly, you can get the boat from the circular quay, which takes you over there. The beach at Manly is amazing and the whole place is great. In Brisbane, it's not as touristy as Sydney, but still a good few things to do. If you get a chance, do the tour of Suncorp Stadium. One of the best stadium's I have been to. I managed to go to State of Origin, but that's only on around May-July time. Would also say head to Australia Zoo, we got a deal where we got picked up in Brisbane and taken to the zoo and brought back, was about 100 dollars. The Zoo is a great day out. Also head to South Bank in Brisbane for a chilled out day, at the beach and the parklands. If you want a night out, head to Fortitude Valleys, loads of clubs and pubs there. We didn't get a chance to head up/down the Gold Coast, but only heard good things about it. Have a good time and hope you enjoy it!!
  12. I've got tickets for origin game 3 at Suncorp because I'm in Brisbane on holiday then so hoping for a QLD win in game 2 to make it a decider! Can't wait for it!
  13. Absolutely different class tonight. Even after the short interruption caused by the power cut. Even managed to get a set list so I'm buzzing! Great night and the new songs sounded brilliant as well live!
  14. I love the Blues Brothers. One of my favourite films ever. Music is great and the whole round film is class. I'm no sure how many times I've watched it but love it every time.
  15. Great start already. I'm not one for watching series like this. But I'm totally addicted to this. Great TV
  16. Just been for a 6 mile run. Was horrible. Rubbish weather, felt rubbish just wasn't enjoyable. Not the best tonight. I've got a slight niggle in my right thigh but I'm also having problems with my IT band beside my right knee. Anyone got any tips on anything to help either of these problems? Still can't believe it's a week on Sunday until the marathon as well.
  17. Done the Edinburgh Run in 82:52 quite happy with that after struggling with a wee injury the past few weeks. Thought the course was good and the set up was really good as well.
  18. I'm currently in training for the Edinburgh Marathon at the moment. This is my first marathon, so just seeing if any of the experienced runners have any tips for it? I have done numerous 10k's and 2 half marathon races before as well. I'm following a training plan at the moment and training is going well at the moment. Done 13 and a bit miles on Saturday in 1 Hour 55 mins. Also signed up for the 10 mile run in Edinburgh at the end of April so looking forward to that as well.
