  1. It’s a weird one with Connell. Quite clearly an extremely talented player but there were many games where i was unconvinced, particularly attitude wise. I do think he was misused when it came to how we used him. Too many occasions he was put in the holding midfield or “quarterback” role and maybe with his lack of physicality, it was set up for him not to work out there but like what’s been mentioned already, he tried wee stupid flicks in horrible areas of the pitch and tended to over complicate things which were responsible for a couple goals against us across the season Would I sign him? Yes, but only for the right price. Although his rumoured wages at Celtic are high, i don’t see many if not any team that will pay anywhere near those wages at this moment in time.
  2. Really liked him but was never fit. He’s quick, strong and defensively sound and I personally think if weren’t for his injuries, he’d of been a fixture in the side. Formed a great partnership with Charlie Fox at the beginning of the season until his eventual injuries. If you get a full season out of him then great signing but that’s a big if. He broke down 3-4 times in the first 10 minutes of games across the season
  3. Excited with that signing, a massive upgrade on the so called “wingers” we had last season. Also quite buoyed listening to Coyle regarding how he wants the team set up to be on the front foot and entertaining for the fans. The signing of Thomas certainly epitomises this. Will be a busy couple weeks regarding signings I’d imagine
  4. Big job indeed but hopefully a sign of intent that we’ve essentially decimated the squad. Exciting summer ahead
  5. He may well not hit double figures next season but his record in previous seasons at championship and spl level I wouldn’t say merit complete donkey status. He has his flaws but can still be an asset I’d say. Wouldn’t have him 1st choice striker next season though
  6. Queen’s Park 2022/2023 Goalkeepers 12. Calum Ferrie - 2023 17. Jacques Heraghty - 2024 Defenders 2. Jake Davidson - 2023 16. Callum Yeats** - 2023 ? Cameron Bruce - 2024 * 3. Tommy Robson - 2024 4. Lee Kilday - 2023 ?. Jason Naismith - 2023 Midfielders 14. Lewis Moore - 2023 25. Alex Bannon - 2023 * 22. Jack Thomson - 2023 10. Liam Brown - 2024 ? Dom Thomas - 2024 ? Grant Savoury - 2024 18. Callum Biggar - 2023 Forwards ? Scott Williamson - 2025 26. Gregor Nicol - 2023 * 23. Simon Murray - 2023 ** - Out on Loan
  7. I’m interested to see how Williamson fits into the plans next season now we’re in the championship. There’s no doubt if we remained in League 1, he’d of got a decent crack of it but will he get as many opportunities? A 3 year deal suggests there’s a lot of hope in him to deliver and from what I seen of him in the Glasgow cup, he seems a really exciting addition but it’s an incredible jump from cambuslang playing pot bellied defenders to legitimate seasoned full time defenders. I hope he’s eased in slowly tbh.
  8. Murray needs to stay for me. An incredibly infectious personality on the pitch and his enthusiasm particularly for the Dunfermline and Airdrie games radiated massively on the crowd. With loads of big games and crowds next season, I genuinely think we might see an even better version of Murray tbh. The big question mark is his knee. You’re really hoping his operation during the season has cleared his knee up entirely now and he can have a proper go of it next season. Even when things aren’t going for Murray, his sheer enthusiasm for running about the pitch and being a nuisance always makes him a threat to defenders. That’s something that frustrated me a lot with Bob Mchugh’s game that when things weren’t going for him, he genuinely seemed like a man down at times. I’m glad the management picked Murray over him. Although I still would like to sign 2 experienced strikers to challenge Murray for the starting spot up top next season Let’s not forget that despite missing almost half the season, he still ended up being our top scorer..
  9. There was always going to be some decisions regarding the squad that would split opinion. Doyle was a great captain and his enthusiasm on and off the pitch was great but it was the right time to release him I’d say. I just think he’d of been found out at championship level. Overall, I’m not surprised with the released list but I’m probably most sad about Grant and Quitongo. Would say it was right time for them to go but it’s just such a shame how injuries halted their progress. Grant was a rock at the back in the playoffs, you could tell how much he enjoyed playing for us. Quitongo seems the type that might need to do a Craig slater and go part time to get his career kick started again. Would imagine loads of teams would take a punt on him Interesting reading the players being offered contracts. Lee Kilday and Louis Longridge probably the most surprising? Kilday certainly capable but he’s another that’s been curtailed with injuries throughout the season. Longridge’s form dipped 2nd half of the season but maybe his experience as a squad player will be beneficial in the championship
  10. Really disappointing news. I never had much confidence in lesser being ready for the start of the season in the first place but to think that ochilview was the best alternative option ? Rubbish They talk about sustainable structures to attract fans to the club. Not a chance a 50-60 mile round trip for home matches is going to entice much of the current fan base to attend regularly, never mind any locals or children. The chances of having neutrals or wee kids potentially wanting to watch us next season in the championship regularly will have been hampered by that news. Hopefully this isn’t for the whole season but the vagueness of the statement regarding timescales suggests that we’ll need to make ourselves comfy at ochilview next season The club really need to offer a free bus or something similar as some sort of compromise
  11. Totally agree. Was hoping QP made a move for him in January after leaving Airdrie. Having championship status will put us in a really strong position to sign him if we want him I’d assume
  12. It’s hard and pretty much impossible to tell at this stage. At this moment in time, the current squad would be relegated from the championship. We finished 28 points behind Cove and ultimately we were largely underwhelming for large periods of the season I expect there will be a fair amount of turnover. Not really sure how anyone can really determine whether we’ll be able to assemble a capable enough squad at this stage but I’m really confident we’ll sign some quality players. Could have my QP tinted specs on but I’d imagine we will be a more attractive option for players in comparison to a Morton or Ayr. Doubt Owen Coyle would of came to QP without assurances of money to offer for players Loads of reports suggesting we’re signing Dom Thomas. Would be a quality signing and a squad of similar ability will do for me I’m just buzzing to be in the championship tbh
  13. How do you think the club are going to view the recruitment side this summer? Are we gonna be ruthless ? There’s certain players I’d of been happy to keep in league 1 but I’m not so sure in the championship So far we’ve got: Brown, Thompson, Williamson, Bruce, Ferrie and Moore(please punt) all contracted for next season as it stands. Fox, Robson, Murray and Lyon I’d be more than happy to give new deals to Then there’s Doyle, Kilday, Grant, Quitongo, mchugh, Longridge, Morrison, Gillespie and Davidson. Tbh I think we need to let all these guys go. Absolutely over the moon with their contribution to achieve promotion but we still need to be realistic about who we’re up against next season
  14. Read an article a few weeks back where Robbie Neilson was planning to assess smith over the summer and early cup games. Stated that he was planning to loan him out to a championship side next season if it came to it. Would imagine we’d be the front runners if he became available
  15. Yeah I think there’s a player there. I’ve been critical of him this season but he seems to have developed a lot more physically and looks a lot more powerful going forward. I don’t think you’d see him make that kind of bursting run to win the penalty at the start of the season. Far from the finished article and does have his hairy moments but interested to see what next season holds for him here
  16. Absolutely delighted to see it was Dylan Easton that gave away the penalty btw Great player but a constant pain. Begging for yellow cards throughout game and his pathetic dive to try and win a penalty. Although I do think he perfected his dive 2nd time about when he fell to the floor after giving the penalty away
  17. Mchugh has been largely underwhelming throughout his time at QP. Had wee purple patches of showing he’s a capable striker, but half the time he doesn’t look particularly bothered. Definitely would look to punt him this summer. His total record since he joined has been 14 goals in 65 games.. Would worry if that’s the level of recruitment for the upcoming season
  18. Pleased for Bruce and he seems promising but they really didn’t need a build up for that
  19. Seems like we’re announcing a new contract for a current squad member at 2pm You’ve got to assume with the timing of this, that it’s got be a big player. Absolutely begging for it to be Fox
  20. Aye the goalposts have changed now. We’re undeniably loaded with money and therefore we should quite rightly be aspiring for promotion in the Scottish third tier. Anyone that says we weren’t supposed to challenge this season are wrong
  21. Gutted with that. Thought Airdrie were there for the taking at 1-0 but a costly moment of madness from Ferrie burst that bubble. Annoying as Afolabi blasted the ball over the bar as he was taken out Tactically Coyle was spot on. We stopped Airdrie from dictating the game and as the 2nd half progressed, we got in their faces and won 2nd balls high up the pitch. I’d of said overall a 1-0 win would of been well deserved. Murray was a man on a mission tonight. Ran himself to the ground and smartly finished his goal. That’s exactly the Simon Murray I wish was available for most of the season as he’s clearly a massive asset at this level when fit and firing. Interesting to see where his future lies next season now Its a cup final now and it’s all to play for. I actually feel a lot more confident about our chances after tonight. We’ve shown with a fully fit side and a legitimate manager in the dugout that we’re more than capable of competing with these teams. Naturally still feel slightly deflated but the players should take a lot of belief and heart from tonight
  22. Agreed, I really don’t think Coyle would of joined QP in the first place without assurances regarding a substantial budget. We’re in a fortunate position to offer wages that many championship teams probably couldn’t Aye and there’s absolutely no doubt that we’ll be offering a fairly substantial wage to Thomas if it comes to fruition. If Thomas is the level of player we’re aspiring to recruit next season then it should be exciting whatever league we’re in. I don’t see a lot of the current qp team being around next season so I’d imagine there’s going to be a fair whack of money to play around with (hopefully)
