  1. Spong on the bench? Could argue he was motm last week and now he’s dropped? Risky but guess you’ve got to go with the manager’s judgement
  2. Given that we have been largely honking this season, it would be almost rude to not include some of our own. Based solely on matches I’ve seen against us. Dabrowski- Raith Steele - Arbroath Williams- Partick Thistle Tizzard - QP Reading- Ayr Hepburn - QP Longstaff - Inverness Chalmers- Dunfermline Tilson- Dundee United Wighton- Dunfermline Bird - Arbroath
  3. An 18 month contract is just about acceptable. Anymore than that and you’re verging on daft. It’s a risk given his injury record not just in recent times but the entirety of his career but we’re in a position where we need to take a couple of risks on some older heads to help us in our current position. The quality of Welsh seems unquestionable, just hoping we get a sustained period of him on the pitch and not on the sidelines
  4. Wee bit older than I’d of liked and the injury record concerns me a lot but it’s an experienced centre mid which is needed for guys like Spong and Turner. Even as a squad option, that’ll do for me in our current circumstances in terms of depth and inexperience
  5. I see Connor smith has returned to hearts from his loan from a Scunthorpe. Would take back in a heartbeat. Can play multiple positions in the attacking third Could be utter nonsense but I was told he wanted to come back to queens in the summer but beuker said no to it
  6. Regardless if Thomson is out of contract or not, had a wee search and it seems like Carlisle are fairly loaded now due to their new owners. If there’s any substance to the rumours, it seems like they’d have no issue bidding for him
  7. I’m convinced he’s out of contract the following summer. Signed an original deal until summer 2023 and then signed signed a 2 year extension on top of that in summer 2022. Would be just as bad to lose him as it is to lose Thomas. Thomson could comfortably play at a higher level, got all the attributes. If anything, I think he could do better than Carlisle
  8. What a huge disappointment that deal was. Unlike certain loans that were total duds like your Mcbride’s, longstaff’s and Euan Henderson’s, I do think Hepburn had some talent on the ball but he was far too lightweight for championship football. Started off okay but really fell away after the red card at Airdrie and was rarely seen afterwards. I don’t think I’ll ever get excited again signing a player from an elite club. Thought I’d learn that lesson from Longstaff but was tricked into thinking Hepburn would tear this league apart
  9. I know his name has been mentioned to death by a couple of posters but I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised now to see us offering Wotherspoon a contract. Worked under Davidson and if he is indeed the assistant, played with Liam Craig for a good 8-9 years at st Johnstone. Pretty sure his deal at Inverness runs out some point next week. Hope we’re looking into that
  10. I see the article says that Davidson will be assisted by Liam Craig. Will be interesting to see what happens with Nuijten
  11. Sounds a pretty incredible bit of business potentially. Would curious to know how much we’d get straight away before the add ons
  12. Tbf I don’t think we’ve got endless funds when required but I do think there’s going to be more money available over the next 12-18 months based on the Davidson appointment. A guy who had won the double with St Johnstone and had supposedly turned down the opportunity to go and manage Dundee in the summer ? I doubt he’d be attracted to the worst team in the championship with limited funds without assurances that he could enhance the squad. He’s got a reputation to rebuild. Not saying we’ll go mental but I think we might be less rigid than we have been the last 12 months
  13. Daily record now reporting Dundee United aren’t interested in Thomas, with Raith and Thistle still interested. Cant see thistle affording a fee for him and don’t Raith have an abundance of attacking options. Do they really need him ?
  14. It’s not the most glamorous looking appointment but the more i think about it, the more the club maybe needs this type of appointment. We’ve appointed various ‘projects’ as managers over the last few years and have failed pretty miserably. Veldman came in as pretty exciting and forward thinking guy but within 4-6 weeks, everyone could see he wasn’t up to it We seriously need a manager who can give us some sort of stability for a couple years. At the end of the day, I take far more satisfaction from winning games of football than trying to play nice entertaining football and losing consistently. If it means the football needs to be slightly more pragmatic, especially in the immediate short term then I’m all for it Would Davidson of been my first choice ? Probably not. I’d of been more enthused with Bowyer or Courts but for a team joint bottom of the championship, I’m not gonna turn my nose up at a cup double winning manager Lets been honest, we were never appointing someone with a perfect CV in our current predicament
  15. Worries me that Thomas, a player who has been well known for a long while has all of a sudden been alerted to other clubs mid season. A part of me thinks he’s maybe asked to leave ? Who knows Hopefully just paper talk after last nights win on the tv
  16. Not the type of transfer news I like to see at all. Contracted until 2025 and probably on a decent wage. Just me that can’t see teams actually paying a fee for him ? Please don’t give me another Simon Murray 2.0 moment
  17. Scott burns reporting that Callum Davidson is the favourite for the job. Thoughts ?
  18. Hi Spartans fans- Been a couple murmurs on the qp forum that we might be signing Rhys Armstrong from yourselves ? Based on absolute nothing than a random post from someone but would be curious to know how you’d feel he’d cope with the step up if true?
  19. Think had we not won that tonight, we’d of been in serious bother (still are tbf) but what a difference it makes just experiencing a win. Mad how it changes your outlook on the upcoming fixtures now We deserved that tonight. Aye Dunfermline were down to the bare bones but we’ve played teams with many injuries (Morton particularly stands out) and made a complete backside of it. It was a proper team effort and maybe it isn’t pretty on the eye for the neutral. However, I’d take winning in the most horrible fashion over playing neat stuff and losing consistently at this point in the season Paton was excellent up top and Spong was fantastic in midfield. If only the guy had some pace and he’d not be at this level. For a wee guy, he’s incredibly strong in the tackle and is more or less very successful in the vast majority of his duels. Really liked the look of Mauchin tonight at right back. He struggled against Fitzpatrick on Tuesday but it was his debut up against the most inform winger in the league in fairness. However tonight he was brave taking on his man, got to the byline on numerous occasions and defended well. Will be interesting to see if he’s trusted against Raith next week Hell of a lot more work needed to stay up and even though I sense a stronger togetherness in the squad under Nuijten compared to Veldman, it’s imperative we still go and appoint an experienced manager going forward, alongside some key experienced signings
  20. Joint top scorer in the championship but just not cut out for this level apparently
  21. Still more than capable of screwing this game up
